Uh I hope that's not beer!!!!! You are never supposed to do that. Alcohol thins out your blood making you bleed more during the tattoo procedure which in turn pushes the ink out of your body leaving you with a faded looking tattoo that will need to be touched up.

I have tons of tats. I have always read and heard that you shouldn't drink. I actually did a Google search before I made the post to make sure someone else had heard it. I actually quoted a local shop in my post. Hopefully it's not true.

Alcohol CAN make you bleed more IF you are an alcoholic and have been drunk ALL DAY before you get your tattoo. A beer or two during the tattoo wont hurt anything.

Most tattoo places tell you that simply because they dont want you walking in drunk saying "OMG PUT SO&SO'S NAME ON MY ASS" and then being unhappy the day after -- not to mention, no one wants to tattoo a belligerant asshole.

Just want to add my tattoo guy was my "boyfriend". All of my tattoos were done at his house by him and not by someone who would worry about my drunken actions rather than how my tat turned out.
