I'm not really into the whole global warming conspiracy bs. The way I see it is that some people just pick a position and stick with it no matter what. Some people just want to be right, or have an "enemy" to hate. Some people like their tribe, and don't want to bother learning about the other tribes out there.

For some reason, any old opinion, so long as it's a strong one, has some validity.
Doesn't matter much what the reasoning is behind it. "I have faith" or "I believe" is good enough for a lot of people.
