the use of this word is what, in my mind, helps keeps racism going. the "double standard" or "reverse racism" is found because yes it was a term used in slavery, but slavery is over. the African American community as a whole seems to want not to be equal but to be "better" than the whites as if that is what they deserve.
for example
reparations- pay a RACE for injustices committed over 100 yrs ago. in that case, can white europeans get reparations for the injustices committed by the british? and is the a.a. community also asking the african nations who inabled and fueled the slave trade for reparations as well? no they are asking "White America" as it was called.
NAACP- regardless of its intent at founding this is a racist organization now. to promote the advancement of one race is to ignore the advancement of another. sounds like discrimination to me.
the use of this word and other cases of "taking something away from whitey" or making something unique for a culture, or focusing on one group instead of all is why there is still a great divide in this country. was slavery wrong? absolutely. but to blame it on everything is a cop-out and such. being white did not provide me with food and shelter. i did.and thats how it should be. we should stop worrying about the well being of one or another group and focus on the whole. and by saying this is an exclusive word (N1gger), or this is our music(rap),then its just the whole cycle of trying to make one race superior to the another. just like in the past with "this is my bathroom, you have that one." in fact, most things wanted by the a.a. community, was simply putting themselves back under a race, i.e. affirmative action which was basically i cry of "we cannot compete with others, they are better, please provide us with something". whatever happened to "best for the job?"i think when everyone stops looking for some angle to get something without work, racism will disappear from mainstream society.
i fail to see how any intelligent person cannot see the gaping hypocrisies in the whole slew of race-based requirements for anything. as for the question, it is bull**** that one group can use ANY word and others cannot. THAT IS YET AGAIN SEGREGATION.
ps- no i am not racist, but im tired of the whole"injustices made us this way" arguement. black's were not the only group ever mistreated or segregated, yet seem to be the only ones not willing to become stronger by itt
