I've owned a few Mustangs in my lifetime so I can't honestly say that I dislike the car but I just don't think that I will own another ever again.....

However, I do like the look of the new Mustang....
I think it is the best looking Mustang when compared to any of the more current generation models.

Ummm well I obviously dont hate mustangs so I answer the opposite of the question. The main reason I like the mustang = bang for the buck. I'm more of a Chevy/old muscle car lover, but I fell in love with fox body mustangs because A.) I love the way they look, and B.)They outperform ANYTHING for the amount of money you put into them.

    solid truth!

but naw, i think its just the persona people get about mustang overs. every car has a certain owner that is either an idiot or a ricer, its always a different story when you meet a good group of people with the same type of car just like it for what it is.

thats why i miss my 03 GT!

Ya I thought about putting a disclaimer on it, but I assumed people would realize I meant in just all out racing, not racing down a mountain or around curves lol... Mustangs can be turned into track monsters, but ya... there are alot more effecient cars at twisties.

They use a lot of newer GT's for the Koni Challenge I thought?

Ford is producing the FR500s for racing, and they are being campaigned in the Koni Challenge as well as other series (iirc). The biggest problem with Mustangs in general for road course is the suspension geometry. It's really tough to get a car to turn when the front and rear roll centers are as goofed up as they are in Mustangs. The cars can be made to handle, but it's usually pretty spendy.

Actually I passed a SHelby today, i passed a Shelby 2 days ago. I see quite a few FR500 Cobra's running around. I see Roush's and Saleens the least.

REMEMBER Nemisis, "Shelby" DOESNT mean FR500 Cobra.

i can understand what he is saying, let me debrief you.

Let's go back in time, to a better time, when there were no ricers around.

    Ahh here it is! 1965

1965 was the first year for the shelby mustang to appear on the streets and only about 500 (+/-) models (gt 350 model) were made for street use.

just for example if every state were to recieve the same amount of GT350's there would be 10 of these in each state which would be very uncommon to spot one driving on the streets. Also in the next two years of production there were probably 3,000(+/-) models made and sold. Also in the year 1967 (i could be wrong) the GT500 emerged and i know there were 2000 or less of these made.

Now a days there are mustang models which include; standard GT, shelby GT, hertz shelby gt (500 models), shelby gt500, roush stage 1 (just cosmetic), roush stage 2 (cosmetic and suspension) roush stage 3 (cosmetic, suspension and supercharger), roush blackjack (most rare model), roush 427 (which is stupid and has nothing to do with c.i. and is the hp rating), saleen (cosmetic and minor performance, i/e and probably suspension), saleen parnelli jones mustang (my favorite model, 500 made i think, comes with 5.0 built motor rated @ 400 hp n/a), saleen supercharged, saleen supercharged extreme, ronaele 350r, ronaele, 450r, ronaele 550r, and special order ronaele 750r.

    mustang gt

    shelby mustang gt (baby shelby)

    hertz shelby

    roush mustang (stages 1,2,3)

    roush blackjack

    roush 427r

supercharged saleen mustang (looks the same as regular saleen, extreme supercharged has CF diffuser and larger wing)

ronaele mustang (only differences in the 350r~750r is hp and side strip "badges"

    saleen parnelli jones mustang

which all of these models as you can see makes the mustang "over played" imho. they are still "rare" models but are no where close to being as "rare" as the original gt350 and gt500, which is probably why they are orginals.

hope that is a serious enough answer for you, yet i do not hate on mustangs, i like them. just sometimes i think they are too played out.

i actually did leave out that edition which is called the mark III edition mustang but they are a peice. we had a few of those here at GPF. they are the mustangs with the faded paint scheme (ex. silver to black) ulgy bodykit (exhaust through the rear bumper with little tips lol) and ulgy 5 spoke wheels (split style).. like mine

edit: some mark III editions are V8

just because people want to produce versions of the car doesnt hurt the rarity.. half of those models normal folks will never see on the streets. Times have changed mustang is too popular to be sold in such low Limted numbers like back in 65. And its the onlyreal succesful muscle car left.. soo u have to expect companies to jump all over them and produce 20 different versions.

yes you are correct here, people have to make money, yet all of the version do hurt the "muscle car view" (i guess thats what i would call it) in my personal opinion. however i LOVE muscle/american cars and this is probably why i am against a few of the models

but i will take a parnelli jones mustang any day of the week

i remember some kid pulled behind me one night up 85..while i was boosted. I was like YES a GT...so he pulls up next to me and I just started laughing. I had my windows down andhe was just starin so hard and he that one-arm-locked-on-the-top-of-the-steering-wheel-im-a-bad-ass-pose as he passed me. lol. So i hit him with the BOV.

but i will take a parnelli jones mustang any day of the week

how does it hurt? any succesful muscle car always has many versions..

from the base model with no luxuries with the best motor option
to the model that comes track ready.

    and the many in between!
