Serious Topic: Why do you hate the Mustang?

I don't hate the Mustang. I actually kinda like the new ones with the right stuff on them.

Of course, if I was going to buy an American car, it'd have to be a rumbling V8. I can't afford the gas for one tho.

thats why i got the V6. I put out more HP than they do (not right now of coarse) and i get 27-30 mpg on the hwy

The did. It was called the Cobra in '03-04. It had an IRS suspension but the decided to go with the solid axle in 05+ b/c they were more concerned with drag times than road courses

wrong they axed the irs because of cost and weight.

Oh, I can understand the logic behind opting for the V6. It's just the traditional mindset and perspective of "American Muscle" that would force me to get a V8. I know that if I got a V6, I'd never be happy with it.

one key main point and Ive driven the car is the suspension. Sure its fast but why a solid rear axle?Why not some independent ****?

whats with the comparison of the 350z? wtf? my car is not no mustang. i do like mustangs(preferably 03-04 cobras) but come on now, comparing it to the 3fitty is just insulting. i used to have a mustang(99 gt vert) i loved it, that torque is just addicting, and they do mod pretty easy. i like the new s197 mustang but its way to big. imo. my s196 felt much lighter and more nimble.(it was) but the new ones look sharp. Mustang>civic anyday. i would love to see the difference that suspension made on your's NEM. enjoy

Also, there were 12 different Mustangs in my school parking lot all driven by girls. There were three more driven by two guy students and a teacher. At the time I drove an E30 and everyone of them wanted to race me because I had a BMW and they drove the ''all-mighty Mustang''.

when I was in highschool, I had a 92 5.0. I was never one of those that thought I was all high and mighty because of it though. It was a pretty sick car for a middle class high school student though, there for, a lot of people thought it was pretty bad ass. Haha, have you ever gotten sick from drinking even if it's because you didn't eat something that didn't settle right before hand? It's kind of like hating the drink and not wanting to drink it again. I don't know, poor analogy but it's just something that seems to stick with the car itself because I know people with BMW's and such and they aren't as bad to me, hell my first car was a BMW. But 99% of the time Mustang drivers are dumb/jerks/domestic ricers. I don't mind if someone who is a decent guy has one, I won't openly just bash his ride because he doesn't make it be a god among others. Nemesis has always seemed cool to me so more power to him and modding his Mustang.

Ok so I know its probably going to be a serious stretch to get a serious response out of the people here, but here goes.


So Ive owned my car for about two weeks now and I absolutely love it more than any previous car that Ive had. Im only 24, so saying that, I havent experienced a ton of vehicles. But Ive owned a WRX/300zx/etc, and driven many other high end vehicles a time or two. Yes, I know there are many cars out there that are amazing. However, Im talking about one certain car. Now, being completly honest, I ragged on the new Mustangs all the time, especially the V6 models. Mostly because I always saw women driving the base model sixers or maybe with the Pony package And I drove a friends auto V6 and it was a horrible experience. I vowed to myself that I would never own one, and Id stick with my Subaru. Now, the GT and previous year model Cobras, Ive always had a little respect for them because they are the true breed of what a mustang should be. Poor on gas mileage, rough ride, but having that special "V8" charm. Now, Ive never had the pleasure of driving a stock platform S197 GT, but when I went out to purchase another vehicle, the ones I had in mind were an Audi TT, Audi A6, VW GTI, Newer WRX, etc etc. I test drove all of them and they all had their special qualities I liked. However, it wasnt the "OMG I WANT" factor. Now, about to give up an the Mustang GT being the last one on my list to test drive, I gave it the benefit of doubt and took her out. Now mind you, the car isnt stock suspension wise. I took it out and was amazed and how stout the car felt, the lack of body roll, the feeling of actually having some "meat" in the rear (no pun intended). I fell in love with another domestic.

So here are some things Ive noticed about this car, coming from a few different import/domestic platforms:

1. The new GT has tons of aftermarket, even from import companies.

2. The fan base/forum base/etc is pretty large, which is to be expected.

3. The interior is decent, but who buys a Mustang for luxury anyways?

4. Personal opinion: I think the car is beautiful in the looks department, of course that will vary from person to person.

5. For under 21k dollars, I think you get a lot. (Personal opinion once again)

5. The car is more respected among others, more so than certain imports. Again, this will vary.

Now, with that being said, here is my question. If you dislike the vehicle, please say why? Dont just say, well I dont like it because its a Mustang and my grandma had a 96 base model V6 and it took a **** after 2 weeks. I want a serious educated response. And keep the comments civil, I dont want this to turn into a flame fest.

It's the drivers...but I am amused by the drivers and I don't hate the car because of it. I laugh everytime I see some guy at a car meet revving his mustang like he is "the shi.t" and the "fastest of them all" as he tells people he has an X-pipe and flowmasters...and sometimes even gears and headers. Its funny, the car inspires its inexperienced drivers to think they are the are on top of the world, when they're bolt on V8's are only trapping 103. I actually like the car even more because I continue to walk away from them new and old (N.A V8's with bolt on's) and tell them inline-6, mostly stock as they continue demanding i'm turbo or something....I do love the Mustang car however, I was almost an owner and will be eventually if I get the money for a 71 mach 1

A Mustang owner enlightened me about this and challenged me to go around asking GT owners who were revving.

I dont like the quality feel. They feel cheap. And the drivers, NOT ALL, but some Mustang drivers usually are a little cocky. And for me personally I am more of a handling guy and making Mustang handle can be done, but they weigh a bit, and it is just not THE car to have for it. But it can be done.

I like the power from the V8 ones.

I dont think I really HATE Mustangs, mostly the dumb drivers (SOME...lol gotta protect my words) more then anything else always pushes me away lol.
