i dunno i dont think you would be able to get it done. Lots of people will either back out or just not attend or acknowledge this. ITs worth a shot though.

This idea is good on paper, but unfortunately it won't settle anything IMO.

You know why? Because there is already bad blood between some shops and this will only make that boil fester. If somebody wins, the losing side will have a million reasons or excuses why. That will then turn into yet another pissing contest.

The only real fair way to settle it is to take it to the track. The track doesn't lie. The track doesn't care who lines up with who, the lights and clock don't lie. You either win or lose. Clear, precise, and definite. Always a winner and always a loser each and every time. A dyno can be manipulated so many ways it's not funny.

Some shops could care less about internet drama 99% of the time. This would possibly be the same. The shops have really nothing to gain and a whole lot to lose if they do it.

You wanna settle all this drama? Do a good ole fashion call out. You don't like somebody, call them out directly. If they have the nads, they'll take you up on it and you TWO ALONE go at it. Go to the track, run head to head, and settle it once and for all. Get called out and you don't wanna run, then you have to deal with the backlash. Eventually people will stop talking shit because they know they'll eventually get called out in front of everybody or get their asses spanked and made to look stupid. As the saying goes, "there's always somebody out there faster than you", so therefore eventually ALL the shit talkers will meet the bottom of their shoe.

A lot of people talk shit simply because they never have to back it up. You wanna stop the shit talking? Make them back it up or shut up. Simple.

i agree with that 100%. however, i dont like a track day. the reason being is, will my car beat MM supra, or BG evo, or AAPs supra? HELL FUCKING NO. would they lose to me on the street with street tires, maybe, well maybe not the EVO. I mean those are all 10second cars, it woundt be fair for them to runs against a 11second car. they are all Turbo cars im NA. youd have to have classes at the track as well. but you get what i mean, classes level the playing field.

Jaime you and i both know that people will make excuses at the track too. we'll hear
    "my axel broke"
    "my launch was messed up"
    "i trapped higher than you"
    "my tires arent sticking"
    etc

i said we should use a NEUTRAL site for dynoing. there wont be any manipulations if there is third party dynoing for us. Plus this is meant as FUN. shops may disagree or had bad pasts, but we are all adults, im sure we are all mature enough to meet at a place shake hands and have a fun day. leave the shit talking to the internet.

if it's a track day.. it should be run Auto-x style (since we don't have a road course).

Or make it a points type event..
    1) collect points for dyno comp
    2) collect points for drag comp
    3) collect points for track/auto-x comp. <--- the most exciting one and most like "street" driving

All great in theory, but alot of the shops aren't the ones talking shit so even if you never saw so and so post on IA there would always be their cheerleaders on here stirring the drama.

    I like this idea.

    shows which shop can tune/build.

but then all thats useless if ya can't drive.

Also would be a lot more fun.

let's take it to the next level and add another 2 classes. show (someone has to like show cars right?) and drifting.

the smaller or more specialized shops will get a 0 in a few catagories.. but it will show who is the over all the best "tuner" shop.. and who has people that can not only build cars but drive them....

one shop in particular stands out so far in my mind for this.

agreed on the auto-x thing, that way you have the true racing of beating people int he turns and not in the straights because the cars like evos/stis and such are not made for the straights.

and there may be a shop that for example , doesnt build drift cars or drift themselves. so they may score 0 in that area, but im pretty sure (not to call anyone out specifically) the the same shop that may have a drift car, doesnt likely have an amazingly powerfull NA car..

those are good ideas as well. i know we dont ahve a DRIFT car, but i know Batlground doesnt have an all motor car either. Knowledge has a 8 cylinder turbo and a a few road race cars, but i havent see or heard of any 4 sylinder turbo cars they have making over 600 like ISP. so it would be pluses and negatives

Thats a good idea, and i think it shuld be a good advancenotice for the invitational so maybe the shops can hustle and build a car for a certain class...........

i think it would be a lot of fun. i think if you did a poll, most people wil lsay WHP numbers and 1/4 times are what determines a fast car. NOT DRIFITING or AUTOX-ING.

drifiting is excessive, it doesnt prove anything, fun to watch, but i dont think it takes any more skill than AUTOX-ING IMO. but i have never drifted.

This is a cool idea, but I agree with vteckidd, drifting doesnt prove shit, its all show, I dont think having a show is a good idea either, b/c we are talking about preformance shops, not body shops. This really wont prove much though, people know which shop can build fast Supras(AAP), people know that ISP can build fast Hondas. Whats the point to prove?

if i were to pay a shop for my stuff to get done there i wouldnt only want it to be functional but to also look decent. if im going to an event like this i would like there to be as many shops cars there to represent their shop as possible just because they arent the fastest in the shop doesnt mean they shouldn't be represented, the more cars the better chance something will appeal to the people that are there. EG:I personally have never seen anything from AAP and I would love to see more then 2 of their rides..

Oh and as far as drifting , belive it or not there are A LOT of people that like drifting, I know and Kabir don't and thats fine but I would MUCH rather sit and watch drifting then sit and watch a dyno contest, thats just me. Also this should be about what a customer would want to see and decide what each shop has to offer, i wouldnt take a car to shop A to have it built as a drift car because that isnt what they do, they specialize in NA cars or they specialize in road racing or whatever the case... but i could take that car to shop B and C. just my oh and Admin, i know you are about tired of hearing our idea's lol..

Maybe judge the cleanliness of the engine bay but thats it. So what if a drag or drift car has a dent in the quarter panel, is that gonna make you not wanna go the that shop?

I would rather watch drifting that other people dyno also, but what the hell does that have to do with choosing a shop? If you are gonna build a drift car you choose the parts and get the shop to install it.

1/4 times don't mean anything to me personally. Yay.. you can build a 1300HP monster that goes straight and can't stop, what good is that? Ideally the true measure would be lap times on a road course, but that is something we can't pull off.

yeah i dont think drifting should be a aprt of this.

many epople will go to the drag strip

many people wanna show of dyno's and a clean installed engine bay

how many people here will go drift their cars?

im also guessing finding a good place to have a drift comp + insurance + all that jazz would cost quite a bit. but a regular autox shouldnt be that much and drag is like 15 bucks.

i know..that's why i said "i personally". I attend auto-x's and road races.. i don't find the drag strip entertaining. If you just wanted to compare people's intrest levels, maybe we should check attendance numbers for a big event at commerce compared to a LaMans race at road atlanta. Then it's apples for apples.

I should have clarified on the show part, i just meant somewhere for shops to put their cars where we could see what actually went into them, and how professionally (visually atleast) they were done instead of having them roped off where noone could get near or see them. there are 100 ways to cram a B18 into a civic, all i care about is how well that is done if that were my car of choice.

not everyone knows how to build a car so choosing parts isnt that easy for them, i know what it takes to build a drift car, i know absolutely nothing about building a drag race honda, so i would call ISP and talk to the guys there instead of just "choosing a part" and having a shop install it. when you are building a 600+ hp drag car or a 300 hp drift car it isnt as simple as just "choosing a part" and going from there.. well, it that is if you want to have any success with it.

to be honest even that isn't fair. it should be based on a percentage of this site being as this site is holding it..

you are forgeting something, and its the same thing that alot seem to be forgeting. each "sport" or form of racing was developed for each specific thing, there is rarely a jack of all trades type car. the fastest dragsters in the world cant auto cross (man that would be funny to watch lol) and although the best auto cross cars could drag they dont do it very well.. it's all relative to the racing you are interested in. that is why i would like to see it expose alot of different sides of the same shops, because they may have something that makes them better at a given thing then the next one so on so fourth.

you are very very right.. So how would you propose finding what shop builds the best all-round car? Or is that not what this is all trying to prove?

i would say almost every shop in ga has a car that can qualify for a dyno day or a day at the strip, thats why those are the two most popular events... shit i would love to shut down and do a mountain run w/ shops but we gotta be realistic, most shops build for one thing that is to make high hp and go fast.

i think this is an awesome idea all of the shops can come out w/ thier cheerleaders and see where they stand, instead of only 1 or 2 shops showing up, thats why we call them all out its braggin rights... there is only a few shops that are probably car specific like EPG or Tophat(seda guys) but who cares bring what you build. I would love nothing better than to see Mainstream pull a 12sec run w/ an all motor civic against a ISP runing a 10sec... 10 is better than 12sec but check out the motor setups... or ISP hatch vs. Batlground evo or MM Supra vs. AAP supra etc, etc, etc... there are tons of shops and tons of us in the scene. I think this is perfect so shops can show off what they build. Every shop deserves braggin rights, but if you don't race you can't brag

Drifitng proves that you can slide a car around a track. It doesn't prove anything else.

Dyno=You have to build a good motor to make good numbers.
Drag=You have to build a good motor to withstand racing, you have to make good numebrs to run good times, you have to drive well to get a good time, you have the car setup well for the best possible time.

Show=proves you can waste a lot of moeny to make a car a useless piece of shit. Wow, you spent a $120k on your Civic for doors and hoods that open the wrong way. It doesn't prove anything for a performance shop. No real performance shop should even deal with bodywork and that crap.

Drifting might be more fun to watch for some people, but it doesn't prove your abilities as a shop.

They are guys that like to come say this shop is better than the one you are helping. Talk a lot of smack, and then the shop ends up getting beat by a home built car.

AAP will win the drag if they bring the Supra.
