How many other cars that you have driven can do that stock?

Thats not what im talking about, but nevermind. So you had an exhaust huh, catback or full turboback? How many pounds were you running back then? 60ft?Originally Posted by Ruiner

was wondering when u were gonna chime in....Originally Posted by Ruiner
Well, the cat is connected directly to the exhaust which is one piece, so turbo-back if you want to be accurate about it. However, it still had 2 out of the 4 cats, so it wasn't a full "straight pipe" setup. I still had the two "pre cats" in the car.Originally Posted by Maniaç
Now, I was running 19" HRE wheels as well, so they added rotational mass over the stock, 18" hollowspokes. More rotational mass = reduced acceleration. Whatever I gained with my exhaut I lost with my wheels.
I was running stock psi in the rears, so 44-46psi or so. I still cut a 1.79 60ft on that 12.29 run.
I was also running stock boost, which was right at 0.7 bar (~10psi), peak.
I also weighed in around 3,420lbs with 1/2 tank of gas and luggage in the front boot at the time.

So all you had was a catback, cool thats all I wanted to know. Also, didn't know thw 911 came with four cats on its exhaust system. Thanks for that info.Originally Posted by Ruiner
Bigger rims, equal longer gears. With your exhaust im sure you gained around 10-20whp, im sure 19' rims wouldn't have taken all that power away. And they do lose some acceleration, not a huge noticeable diffrence though. Now, I was running 19" HRE wheels as well, so they added rotational mass over the stock, 18" hollowspokes. Not bad.I was running stock psi in the rears, so 44-46psi or so. I still cut a 1.79 60ft on that 12.29 run.
That's stock? Damn, turning up the boost would have helped alot, im sure.I was also running stock boost, which was right at 0.7 bar (~10psi), peak.
Ok, extra info. Lolol.I also weighed in around 3,420lbs with 1/2 tank of gas and luggage in the front boot at the time.

Wrong on the "bigger rims = longer gears" part (in my case). I kept the SAME diameter on my tires as I went from 295/30/18 to 315/25/19. So, even though I went with 1" larger wheels, I shrunk down the sidewall on my tires in order to compensate. I had to do this as I was AWD and Porsche's AWD system is VERY sensitive to the diameter of its tires. I had to stay w/in factory spec or else I would risk frying the center diff. My gears were still exactly the same as they were with the stock wheels/tires.Originally Posted by Maniaç
As for the gains with my exhaust, who knows. It really wasn't that much as I ran close to those times (on a hotter day) back when I was stock (but I had a leaking diverter valve at the time, so I couldn't get full stock boost).
The boost could be increased, but you couldn't just use a boost controller to do the job. It would need a full ECU flash/reprogram in order to get it to work.

Intresting. So you could fry your diff just by having larger wheels on it? Seriously? Lolol. Damn.Originally Posted by Ruiner

Oh I know that, with most boosted cars now a days you can't just install a boost controller and rasie your boost up. Not just Porsche. Everything starts with your EM.The boost could be increased, but you couldn't just use a boost controller to do the job. It would need a full ECU flash/reprogram in order to get it to work.

Subarus are the same too, you have to have the right size tires on all 4 corners or it will really destroy the CD

If you had a great than 1% difference between your front and rear wheel's rotations per mile, you could have issues.Originally Posted by Maniaç

QD wishes you would have both died three years ago for skreet racing.
It has nothing to do with the width. It's the diameter (or circumference) around that matters. THAT is the measurement that you must keep in mind.Originally Posted by Maniaç
If your tire normally has a diameter of 28.5", then it doesn't matter what size wheel that you use, as long as the tire has a 28.5" diameter (how tall it is), you are fine.
Your speedometer is based on your tire's circumference.

By far the best tire size calculator on the net. You can put in your stock sizes and compare. You can "go up" a wheel size and try to match that to your stock sizes, etc.Originally Posted by Maniaç
