Cant make the analogy.

So a measure to enact tougher penalties on DUIs and car crimes, or "Alcohol control" or "car control" if you want to call it that, is not analogous to enacting tougher penalties on gun crime, or "gun control"?

This would be like the government taking our cars so we cant drink and drive.

I suppose if you believe the government and all the powers that be, including lobbyists, is interested in some type of all encompassing, unilateral civillian weapons ban, which we're not seeing at all.
