How do you calculate that "less than 1%"? Seems to me that a lot more than 1% don't know what their favorite candidate stands for - on either side. Its not just one party's supprters.

There are 1,000's of people in America that don't follow politics so they vote on what moves them.. Some because Obama is Black, Some because Romney is White, others because something stands out like "Healthcare", "War", "Citizenship", Abortion, Gay rights, Religion etc...
and they choose the person that benefits them the most. They don't know everything each runner up is either for or against so you could do this poll on either person.

I think you're grouping intelligent people into two camps and it doesn't work that way. Intelligent people overwhelmingly vote socially liberal and fiscally conservative. Unfortunately none of the candidates really fit that description, and Romney is way off that mark.

The title of this thread could very well be the title of just about every one of Sinflix's posts. He doesn't want discussion, he wants to beat you over the head with his views until you submit.
He has gotten a bump nationally. I do question most of the polls' methodology though. From articles I have seen many of the pollsters are expecting 2008 like partisan turnout and that simply isnt happening. Even if the dems do manage '08 numbers, I think it is completely ignorant to think that GOP will not greatly increase their participation, especially in the bright red areas of swing states.
In the end though, you are right in that Obama is likely to win. The sitting POTUS holds a huge advantage when coming up for re-election. There have only been 3 1 term presidents (not counting VP's that ascended) since the turn of the 20th century.
Pretty sure they're still doing landline polls. If that's the case, I believe that's a pretty heavy GOP demographic (people who still have landline phones), so I think the prez takes the margin of error. I call an Obama win with 300 electors.
Gallup and Rasmussen do land line and online. The actual numbers of dems or GOP polled isnt the only factor though. Every pollster uses a different method for accounting for turnout. Some pollsters are expecting '08 level turnout for dems in general and Obama in particular, which even their own polls dont back up. It only takes a 1 or 2% drop for the dems and a 1 or 2% rise for GOP, which many polls are already calling a fact, to turn several states red at this point.
As far the end number, Obama could easily end up in he range of 310, but there is also the possibility that Romney pulls that many if he pulls Ohio, Florida, NC and Virginia early in the evening, before polls close on the west coast. Because of the way Ohio has been trumpeted as the king maker in this election, a loss there could actually influence late Obama voters to give up and stay home resulting in a Romney win in a state like Oregon or even Hawaii.
Yeah, the media army has been using every opportunity to sway voters. Piers Morgan cant go 5 seconds without talking about how great Obama is. Obama could take a piss and Morgan would be on the news going "look how presidential he shakes his penis after urinating, now thats a president"
