Welcome to the site. A former Spec V owner myself, the only advise I can give you is not to boost it. It costs so uch to do that you might as well go buy a boosted car new. You can spend 5 grand on it and just match a stock srt-4.

On the other hand, all the basic mods (intake, exhaust, jimwolfe technologies balance shaft removal kit, Energy suspension motor mounts<<<<must have) all benefit the car greatly. I would keep it NA and make it an autocrosser. They are damn good cars at Auto-x

If you insist on boosting it, here is what your options are:

Turbonetics just made a very nice kit, that seems to be safe, and produce impressive #'s overall. Go to their website, and read up about it, there are also quite a few topics about it on both www.b15sentra.net and www.TheVboard.com just search Turbonetics, and it should come up. IIRC you are looking at mid to high 200's on whp/wtq, at I believe...8 pounds? You will have to verify all of that though, but like I said, just hit up their website, and they will have all of the info you need. They also have really good customer service, so call if you have any Q's.

Another option is to do what is refered to as the "VQ Swap" meaning that a VQ35 6 cylinder motor is put into the Spec V replacing the stock 4 cylinder QR25. This is going to be a hugely popular swap here shortly once people start finding out about it, kind of like the SR20 -> 240sx. So far, there has been about 4 or 5 successful swaps, the man doing it is named Travis, and you can find him either at TheVboard, or at B15sentra. The great thing about the VQ swap is a semi-bolted VQ Spec V, with drag radials and proper suspension set up, is capable for low 12's if the driver knows what he is doing, 11's with juice! Not to mention, it is EXTREMELY RELIABLE since the car will not be running any type of forced induction (not enough room in the engine bay) and the VQ is also a potent and strong motor! This is my personal reccomendation to you. IIRC it runs about 8 G's for everything which seems pricey, but a decent turbo set up would run about the same (after everything, i.e. upgraded fuel system, internals, etc etc), and be more risky on your overall fragile stock motor. QR's were unfortunately not really meant to be boosted, though if you know what you are doing-(very important), and can maintain it with knowledge and $-(lots!) they are fun as hell due to the extreme torque you will experience (bye bye honda's lol JK)

The final option you are looking at is a supercharger kit released by a company called Revolution Autoworks. They are a small company that has both a 3.8 psi, and 8 psi Supercharger kit that also puts down impressive numbers. There have about 3 or 4 cars running around with these on, and customers have so far been pretty impressed with the built quality, and horsepower #'s. This, IMO would be a safer alternative to a turbo kit, especially if you went for the 3.8 psi version, not to mention IIRC these run about mid to high $3's in price, which is very reasonbale for what you would be getting out of it (mid to high 13 second car, low 13 if you can drive)

That is really about it. There are more companies making things here and there, but those 3 are everything that are worth a damn to be straight up with you. Please becareful, there are so many things that can go wrong when trying to boost the QR. I hate to say this, but if you bought this car thinking you could slap a turbo kit on without spending money on building/fortifying your motor, you made a big mistake, these motors are known to blow at as little as 5 psi on stock internals. Even with a built motor, they can blow at anything past 8, esepcially if you do not loctite your Butterfly screws (if you do not know what I mean by this, you have A LOT of searching to do my friend!) So assuming you HAVE to boost it, here is what I would do if I were you:

SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH over at b15sentra, TheVboard, and MySpecV.com (there is a guy I know named Gurov there who knows his shit, and he is the Forum Admin, really nice he is) After you have searched, and read and learned about everything I just told you about, you need to make a decision thinking about long term effects it could have. Yes, you could boost your car now on 8 psi and probably be fine for a while, but it will greatly effect the longevity of the motor, and probably eventually blow at THE WORST MOST INCONVIENT TIME when you need it the most, so keep all of that in mind. If it were me, I would save up, spend the $8,000 on the VQ swap and have a bad ass 6 cylinder spec v that can eat stock Evo's and Sti's (STOCK...mind you!) so ya, I hope this helps man. Just remember, search those forums, learn about your car first, otherwise you will fuck yourself in the longrun. If you have any Q's let me know, I obviously don't mind helping out another Spec driver!

PS I didnt proofread due to being tired so sorry if it does not flow well

I actually disagree my friend-(I know I sounded very negative about them in my long rant, I just read it for the first time, and it sounded way more negative than intended!)

For the money, there is no way you can find a better deal, not to mention, they DO have great potential to be very fast, which in turn makes for a unique car that you don't see on every street corner. I personally think some engine fortification is needed to run boost (I am also paranoid though ), but many guys are able to run 6-8 pounds of boost with no problems at all! I just was trying to give my .02 cents on how I think that is very important to make your motor strong before running boost, I would hate to see this guy blow it and then having to pay out of pocket because he lost his warranty.

Considering I paid 17 even for my brand new Spec V in 2005, that included power everything, rockford sound+sunroof, 6spd manual gearbox, and a car that can beat most in its class off the lot, I am very happy with it! I do not regret my purchase by any means, and am glad to be driving a car that is great in stock form, but can also be made into a beast down the road with proper modifications.

Once again, I apologize for what appeared to be me bashing Spec V's in my last post, I have not slept in like 2 days, and should have proof read that message before posting it!

Hey Specsteve... it sounds like a deal when you get here. But your drive should be 17 hours tops. I have made the drive to ATL --> Denver (and vice versa) more times than NE1 on the planet I bet.

If you can smell them, then you MUST be in the car w/ them.. which makes YOU old and smelly. And we are talking Spec V... not to be confused w/ the other models.

J that is good to hear man! I mapquested it and it said like 22 hours, which sounded a little long to me! Where do you normally stop at? I was thinking like Columbia, MO, it seemed like a decent halfway point. Or do you even stop? I get the vibe from you that you probably drive straight through lol.

Also, to the guy that said Sentra's are for old people....

J is right, every model (even the se-r, sorry guys...auto=no fun) besides the Spec V is bland, boring, and has no beef. Though, I would like to see what you are driving, and between either J's car, or my car, I bet we could give you quite a run. Spec V's are spirited little cars with 6spd gear boxes and a great amount of torque!

Think of it like this, if you race a base dodge neon, as long as you are not riding a bike or running on foot, you will beat it. Well, if you are to race a dodge neon srt4, you are looking at a totally different automobile that when properly modded can be pretty fast (one hit mid 10's a few months back...)

So ya, I know what you mean though, everytime I see a base sentra, some old dude is driving it, but next time you see a spec v, look in and see who is, and see if he will run you, they are quicker than you are probably thinking.

I didn't realize that se-r's were all autos.

Well I'll be damned, I've learned something new. You probably could give me quite a run, I mean you have a 6speed, I have a 5speed.

Mapquest = YUCK!!! www.randmcnally.com FTW. I only stop for gas and food. I will look in my mapbook tonight and tell you the places I stopped. I suggest passing through West Kansas when it's dark, the corn-fields in the daytime will put you to sleep as there is NOTHING between Denver and Salinas.

While not SOOPER fast, I ran a 14.8x BONE STOCK in my Spec. Pretty respectable for a SEDAN... and I'd bet if it was a 5spd VS a 6 (1st gear is kinda short and useless, so u spend more time shifting than most guys) I coulda got another 2 tenths. It's a nice platform (AND AFFORDABLE) to build on and pulls nicely even in the higher gears.

My Spec V = over 230 WHP N/A. We'd be a good match. But I will tell you this... I usually toast boosted B13s that have 50/60 more whp. More than that and you will even the playing field. I remem when u were gonna sell that car, I was gonna buy it remem??? LOL

Yea, I remember. The fact that it had so much interest so fast is what made me reconsider selling it haha. That and my dad gave me the money to build it.

I don't see how you'd beat a car that is lighter and has more power...Besides the fact that my gearing blows. I need a b15 tranny badly.

Yeah!!!11 pretty much we would win, cuz that 6th gear in da spec v works a lot like NOS!!11 and adds 100 extra horsepower when you hit it!! Its kinda like feeling that mad vtec pull s0n...

No, what I meant by that was considering I paid $17G's for a new automobile, and getting one with a 6spd transmission is pretty cool, it is a great highway gear, and is nice to cruise in, and once the car has forced induction added, it really performs well up top.

And yes, the majority of Se-r are automatic (after I believe it was '03, if not than definitly '04 they were strictly auto, so there are some manual base se-r's around, they are rare though) So pretty much, anybody who is cruising typically has the automatic version which is fun for an auto, but it is still an auto, and I could never truly enjoy driving one.

Up top? Don't stock spec-vs redline at like 6500 or so? Where exactly is up top?

Also, you know they made SE-Rs since 91. Finding an automatic b13 se-r is rare.

Halfbaked vs. J would be a cool run, I would like to see that, and I feel special that you told me how much your car runs J, dont worry, its on the DL lol.

That would be awesome man! Dont trouble yourself though if you cant find your mapbook, and ya, I think I might try Randy's map site, mapquest pisses me off sometime.

Since you have lived in both CO, and in ATL, how do the cops compare? I assume GA police, especially ATL one's are more harsh on modified vehicles would you say?

And when I was talking about Auto vs. Manual se-r's I did not realize you had a B13, I was talking B15 Chasis only, not b13 or b14, since the original question was asked as B15 specific
