Perpare to get schooled.
The qr25 motor is a very oversquare motor. Meaning it has long stroke and short rods. The piston speeds get insanely high at around 6500rpm on the stock rod length. This means volumetric efficiency falls way off, and the piston can't effectively draw enough air and fuel into the cylinder on the intake stroke. That is why the power drops off. Why waste your time turboing a 4 cyl if you can't rev it past 6500? You won't make any power.
Now if you could shorten the stroke of the motor and put in longer rods you could have yourself a decent motor. This has been attempted by putting an sr20de crank into the motor. It lowers the displacement however but it does allow it to rev higher and smoother. Making it a better overall motor.
well ok then

So lemme make this simpler.
qr25de = bad motor to turbo
sr20de = good motor to turbo

sr20 crank fit in one, just straight out or gotta be adapted to fit?
goddamn your a dickhead
well anyways i gotta get back to work lunch break over, i enjoyed arguing with u guys u dont find too many real grade a assholes, i like that its the type of people i usually hang out with i enjoyed it fellas, maybe we can do it again![]()

That being said, the QR25 is not a bad motor. Yes, it has its shortcomings. Can you run an insane amount of boost on a QR25, no. But i'm guessing its your daily driver anyway, no need for insane boost.
Finally, the actual reason this thread was started...
Sorry to hear about your header. Save some money and go with a Hotshot. BTW, I too have an '02 QR25. Its got 54,000ish miles on it and runs great. My dad's SR20 has nothing but problems. Hmm, think I would pick the QR.
Enjoy the car, they don't have to drive it.
umm, sweet.

I'm not sure if it was ever even finished.
