You can't tell me though that the block/headwork are too similar in those two motors though.

They share what the same iron block, other then that entirely different.

Don't get me started on rb20s and rb25s badass intake manifolds.

Once again...I never said anything about headwork. The RB20's head is pretty restrictive once you get higher hp numbers. That I will wholeheartidly agree with. My point was that they all utilize an iron block.

Not sure what your point is about the intake manifolds. They do look like pooh from the factory, but there are plenty of aftermarket options for them now.

And PLEASE...I am not comparing the different RB's to the SR. I am talking about the iron block used between all of the RB's. Forget about headwork, forget about displacement...I'm talking about the material used from the R31's to the R34 Skylines. Apparently Nissan did not think iron was too outdated. And yes the 2JZ > RB's...

I know there are a lot of aftermarket intake manifolds for the 20 and 25 motors, but don't they have issues with like the 5th or 6th cyl not getting enough air or fuel with some aftermarket manifolds which cause them to go boom?

I am 100% positive it will start. It always does. It is the most reliable vehicle I own, and the oldest.

I see another RB cheerleader looking at this thread.....lets hope he at least has some sense like RB240det does. I dunno though seeing as his name has xxxxx at the end of it.

Ok?? so what???? That doesnt mean that I cant read about them or know about them or anything is it??? Y put me in this??? I am just a newb trying to see why you guys diss RB20 S13s...Sure some ppl do them because they have less money and cant get a SR, but some ppl are fans of the motors from the start... I mean I think its good to have a swapped or KAT'ed car rather than stock....

Pleaseeee dont drag me in this....lol

    See thats where you're wrong.

If you don't have the money to afford a swap or a ka-t don't think you have to do it. You will end up just dumping money into a car that you'll never get back. If you do a ka-t you'll eventually need to replace your rings, pistons, and probably machine your block. Which isn't cheap.

A swap costs more then just the motor, there are lots of supplies you'd have to buy to do the swap, most likely you'll spend another $500+ putting the motor and stuff into the car.

I'm guessing if you have a car its an s13, you're obviously in high school, so my question is why do you want an rb20?

ok..dont hurt me...lmao...Ok here we go..I am in highschool, actually RB240DET is my friend....I have been wanting a S13 for a while believe it or not...But I had liked SRs alot..But stuff was alittle bit less expensive...I dont want to do a KAT, no diss respect to them, I love nissans in general, but I just always wanted to do a swap..TO ME...TO ME U GUYS...I like the both the SR20 and the RB20..Sure the SR is better overall, BUT I like the RB20DET because its less expensve and more in my price range, and I like the sound...Weight really doesnt matter to me, 60 pounds isnt alot to me...which it is to you guys, but that really doesnt matter to me...I just want a fun car to drive around while i am in school, and to have a turbo car to beat my friends in...I mean if i have more money and I feel i can get a SR and do some stuff sure I will do it...But with the goals i want, and the price the RB20 can do it for me...thats all man..NO beef, no dissing anyone, no arguing about nothing... Actually I did think of a SR20 swapped sentra...But i didnt know if SERs would be available at prices i can get S13s as...And thats alittle bit more expensive too....to me...

You can get an b13 se-r probably for less then an s13. You can find them all day long for around $1500, even less if you want just a shell to do a swap in. Check out

    www.sr20forum.com they have se-rs everywhere.

The sr20det for an se-r are pretty cheap too. You can get a bluebird for like $1400, or an avenir for around $1900-$2100 depending, which is same as a bluebird but newer and has a sidemount intercooler and ballbearing t25. Which is what I have in my car. Or get a gti-r motor for like $2500! Hell you could even keep it N/A and make over 200whp with an sr20ve.

The swap is insanely easy as well to do into an se-r.

As for a fun car, my se-r when it was stock was the most fun I've ever had in a car.

Anyways, I'm done at work so no more internet for me until tomorrow when I come back to work.

BTW, when I was in high school I wanted a sr20det se-r more then anything. So I can respect ya kid.

I believe you have to use the SER tranny but i dont know if the bluebird was a AWD though...I think so....but u use the Sentra tranny..beacuse they (the GTIRs and aveniers????? i dunno about the bluebirds) are AWDs..... ...but those have LSDs....the SERs...the SERs i always find are more expensive +2k...I love my B13 sentras and G20Ts man thats the 2nd option...I guess I just liked 240s for sooo long...but who knows...I dont even 100% know yet... Glad to see that I am not getting hurt yet....

Hmmm...I've heard of some of the cheap Ebay manifolds leaning out the last two due to poor flow design. But the Greddy (RB25) manifold is tried and true, and I know a few friends that have some manifolds from Australia for there RB20's with great results. I'm actually talking to a guy now about building one for me.

Yeah you can. We're also making adapter plates for an rb20 to be put in it and made FWD. We're expecting great results. Over 210 to the wheels.

    your all fucking nuts.

firstly, an s13 with an sr has no where near a 50/50 weight distribution, its more like 4x/5x. you put an rb in it, any rb, and it brings it closer to 50/50. the rb25/26 swap actually makes it closer as that swap uses a man sized transmission.

as for the iron block stuff, your arguing with a guy who sat down one day and said, "i think i'll buy a sentra and try to convince people its a good car. maybe i can pick up some highschool pussy crusin the walmart parking lot on tuesday night."

all I-6 lean out in the last 2 cylinders if they dont have ITBs, swap a greddy manifold on to a 26 and it'll lean out too. its physics man, theres no escape.

they should have made more power with their rb20 considering what they did. course they could have bumped the fuel pressure, changed plugs, and advandced the timing and they would have made more power, but im some dumb hick with no shop, what do i know.

i think thats all. i'll be back in a day or two, if i come up with anything else i'll let you know.

    Stock s13 suspension info:

    Base case specifications :

OE front spring rate : 112lbs/in

OE rear spring rate : 112lbs/in

    Car weight : 2850lbs

    Weight distribution : 53/47% (f/r)

    Unsprung weight : ~75lbs/corner

    Front sprung weight : 700lbs/corner

    Rear sprung weight : 600lbs/corner

    Wheel base : 2m

53/47 is damn near perfect for RWD since the transfer under accel makes it 50/50. And thats stock. With a KA. RB weighs more so it gets worse.

I'm trying to find that thread on NICO where a guy weighed his swapped S13 (RB20). I do not remember whether he used mounts or just the R32 crossmember, but the weight distribution was 48/52. Good enough for me...

Yeah the weight distribution isn't the problem, the problem is people swapping them, putting a bigger turbo on and putting down 250 whp. Thats lame.

I'm not sure if you are referring to my dyno results, but my plugs were changed the day of, fuel pressure was fine, and advance was set at 15 degrees. And timing is certainly something you don't want to play around with just to get a bit more hp. With 2 major boost leaks...my power was going to rather disappointing, but with any luck I'll have it swapped over by the end of September if all goes well. Once it's done I'll throw the results on here.

Apparently you did not read my previous posts. I had a couple boost leaks that I found later that day after pressurizing my IC piping. So with a MAF measuring XX amount of air entering, then dumping the amount of fuel needed to compensate, only to leak that air farther down the system = crappy dyno results.

Not to mention having to use an SAFC to tune with. 30% correction across the board isn't the greatest way to tune, but that has been corrected as well...

"Lame"...I can't help the fact I had a few issues with my car. Those have been corrected, so please don't judge me.

The stock se-r LSD tranny bolts right up to the fwd sr20det.

The sr20det never came in a fwd car, only awd.

You can put the sunny front end, as well as swap tsuru headlights (which is what I have.)

Actually I did think of a SR20 swapped sentra...But i didnt know if SERs would be available at prices i can get S13s as...And thats alittle bit more expensive too....to me...
Holy shit. A kid with respect. One more person that actually has some sense and is coming at this thread the correct way. Props to you, my friend.

Like I said, I can appreciate the reasons for someone like yourself wanting an RB20. That is cool with me.

And since I was about 10 I always wanted a fast Datsun 510. I now have the 510, next is to make it fast.

Didn't I already say I was done talking to you? We are having an intelligent discussion with the other two guys. We don't need your dumbassness bringing down the overall IQ of this discussion.
