since this is referring to me ill answer. i do not hate the car. i like the lines of the car etc. what i dislike is people telling me i am wrong when i KNOW i am not. here are some facts to prove this. the only well liked kit for the d17 is the stafford fabrications turbo kit. its a t3 turbo and sells for 3k with new fuel system etc. those numbers are between 150-170 whp. that is about the maximum for that engine without major work ie- sleeving, porting, polishing, balancing the crank, higher compression pistons etc. now, that gets expensive. the only proven "cheap" way to make power in a 7th gen is a k series swap. as i have proven before, the swap of a k20a3, no not the best but still better than a d17 in terms of tuning, will cost about 2k. that puts you at around 135whp with minor bolt ons puts you even with the turbo, and those add ons are included in that cost. so for around 2k you could have a complete smooth powerband for 2k. now, the fastest 7th gen i have ever found had 500+WHP. engine? k20a2 with a turbo. its not hating and its true for all d series honda engines. you will not make alot of power from the sohc without alot of money sunk into it.
the second reason i was flaming, is because this is the kid who was chirping his tires and driving like a bat out of hell in petsmart and claiming he will beat the celica driven by snapper in a highway pull. this is rediculous. he was called out and backed out. when looking at his friends car, he out of nowhere tells me he will race me when hes turboed in 4 months. i laughed and said you might not wanna do that, cuz here in a few weeks im picking up an sti. he said, no ill win. now, if he builds the engine yea he might have a chance, but a d17 with a turbo that is spooled from an all motor "header" leading into a pipe is not going to beat an sti. when trying to HELP AND SUGGEST better ways, i was greeted with hostility. i got a 2002 ex when they came out and made one quick for what it was. i researched this shit for 5 months straight day and night. i dont hate the car, just the attitude that seems to follow that one.
and one last note, when you are lining up to race a car from a dig, try not to back into another car, just fyi.
are u sure all u can get is 150 170whp ? and why in the hell would u put higher compression pistons in a turbo car ?
