hmm...well, its the shitty d17. but as any motor it can be modded for higher power. so i really don't know. i don't hate my car. its my project and no one elses, and i hate to see all these people be blind to how some d16s have been boosted to 400hp and up.
k-swap has been beaten to death IMO. and im not doubting the potency or not giving credit. cause they ARE the shit. but i don't feel like spending 8k to swap a k motor into my car. i could spend 3-4 and build a spare block and build my own turbo kit. i just wish people would respect other peoples decisions on what path they take to modding. my 2 cents.
U can swap a K for less than 8k. Its more like 6. Slap on a turbo kit (which are most likely cheaper than dezod's kit) and kpro then boost away. And u will have the same amount of horses as your d17. Its all preference
since this is referring to me ill answer. i do not hate the car. i like the lines of the car etc. what i dislike is people telling me i am wrong when i KNOW i am not. here are some facts to prove this. the only well liked kit for the d17 is the stafford fabrications turbo kit. its a t3 turbo and sells for 3k with new fuel system etc. those numbers are between 150-170 whp. that is about the maximum for that engine without major work ie- sleeving, porting, polishing, balancing the crank, higher compression pistons etc. now, that gets expensive. the only proven "cheap" way to make power in a 7th gen is a k series swap. as i have proven before, the swap of a k20a3, no not the best but still better than a d17 in terms of tuning, will cost about 2k. that puts you at around 135whp with minor bolt ons puts you even with the turbo, and those add ons are included in that cost. so for around 2k you could have a complete smooth powerband for 2k. now, the fastest 7th gen i have ever found had 500+WHP. engine? k20a2 with a turbo. its not hating and its true for all d series honda engines. you will not make alot of power from the sohc without alot of money sunk into it.
the second reason i was flaming, is because this is the kid who was chirping his tires and driving like a bat out of hell in petsmart and claiming he will beat the celica driven by snapper in a highway pull. this is rediculous. he was called out and backed out. when looking at his friends car, he out of nowhere tells me he will race me when hes turboed in 4 months. i laughed and said you might not wanna do that, cuz here in a few weeks im picking up an sti. he said, no ill win. now, if he builds the engine yea he might have a chance, but a d17 with a turbo that is spooled from an all motor "header" leading into a pipe is not going to beat an sti. when trying to HELP AND SUGGEST better ways, i was greeted with hostility. i got a 2002 ex when they came out and made one quick for what it was. i researched this shit for 5 months straight day and night. i dont hate the car, just the attitude that seems to follow that one.
and one last note, when you are lining up to race a car from a dig, try not to back into another car, just fyi.
and for the last fucking time, do the work and the fucking k20 swap is not 6k. yes, a k20a2 will run you that, but not a k20a3, which is still an improvement over the d series. and i know people running 500hp+ on d series, but you know what, they have TURBO manifolds and turbo exhausts. they didnt get there by slapping a turbo on, upping the boost, and ghetto fabbing some bullshit exhaust and manifold system. not to mention your d17 will hold maybe 17psi before some mods are needed to keep from blowing down the road. could you run more? yea, is it smart? prolly not.
I wasn't directing this towards anybody in particular, especially not u. U have done your research and know what u are talking about. But it seem to me like most people just hop on the "7thgen's are slow and shitty" bandwagon without knowing what they are talking about.

haha i feel ya and for your level head you get a plus one. its not that they are slow and shitty, its just up until recently swaps were out of the question so they seemed doomed forever with a d series, which means major work for major power. and if you decide to go the k series swap route. jump over to k20a.org and i promise you will get a full swap minus mounts for less than 1200 if you put in a k20a3. not the best but with bolt ons and a lil work, a hell of a better platform from the tuning point of view.
i will and try and find the video, its a k20a2 with a type r head and a turbo in a 7th gen and even with drag coilovers the bitch squats when shifting. he dynoed at 500+whp. hold up and ill find the video.

This is why i am on the band wagon. Most are rice with the ugly bodykit, euro lights, maybe an exhaust (no engine mods) . they are slow stock but then again so is a 240. in the end just about anything can be fast if you either have the cash or the knowhow.

Are you are getting the EL mani from Dezod? I mean its nice and all, but its 1000 dollars. IMO not worth it for a mild turbo setup. I say skip the EL, get an HKS log style off ebay, drop the E-Manage, and get an EMS and a good tune. Should put u around 200+ with the right sized turbo.wanna let me have about 1500 bucks? haha. if yes then ill be done in a week. if not then i need to work alot more...but believe me ill be trying.

And why are u going to run the return fuel setup? Andyman97 from 7th gen was putting down 250 without it. Also there are plenty of RSX's that are running WAAY more power than 250 with the returnless.
7th Gen Civics SUCK. YES I OWN ONE AND THEY SUCK.
Just have over 54k and both front struts are blown, body is weak in many places, the engine is even weaker, bout the only thing it has going for it is nice body lines and great gas mileage.

im getting the EL mani MADE by dezod from another 7thgenner on the site. for cheap. anyway, i got the emanage with the turbo stuff i got in TODAY!!! ya! i got the emanage with main harness, 450 CC injectors, warlbro(sp) 255 fuel pump, t3 turbo with .42 compressor trim and i think .48 on the other side. BOV wastegate and some other adapter shit hahaha. anyway, i need alot more but im glad i have some of it! i can't afford the EMS. thats why i jumped on this deal i just described. anyway, after i get all the shit and throw it on the car, i plan to have it as a Daily driver while i get an extra d17 block to play with in the garage. probably this winter. too far to tell. andyman97 also blew 4 motors, i don't want to blow one. why should i skip the EL if i can get it for hella cheap? lol. there are plenty of other 7thgenners puttin out good numbers. i hope to be one!!! damn im just excited now. that shit sitting in my garage is about 1500 bucks worth of stuff. and its useless right now! ahh! im done ranting

no fuck that. i don't mind used stuff at all as long as it works. most of the stuff i got in today is new, besides the 450 injectors though. i didn't want to risk all that money for a bad turbo
imo i dont like they way it looks not my cup of tea but if u like it thats all that matters

^^^ i agree with drmcivicsi. 7th gens are PoS's. They'are heavy as fuck, WEAK ASS engines, and not to mention the other 20 things wrong with them. In my dc2 LS with header/exhaust, intake and a short throw i pulled on a 7th gen EX with same mods. He even had a 1/2 car start and i beat him by like 1.5 or 2 cars. Not saying my shits fast or anything..but U cant even feel Vtec engage and they dont pull for SHIT. Swapping in a k20a3 is the only way those cars are even the least bit alright.
