Default I got a ticket.. what do you guys recommend

well im guessing most of you have tickets here.. lol

I got a ticket in Winder....
    on a backroad.. limit 35.
    i was doing "55"

cop came, took my license came back with ticket.

i was in a dodge van.. i remember looking down at dial and it was 40-45 at one point.. i really doubt i went 55 there..

someone recommended to check in Campus Lawyer...

do any of you have any other suggestions ?

also he said it was a local citation, and it won't go on the record or insurance ... anyone can confirm something like that ? or cop bs

what method did he use to get your speed? laser, radar, etc

if it was laser or radar did you ask a calibration test on the device being used? Check for what it says on the ticket exactly.

If it doesn't go on you're record just pay it.

he came took the license, and came back with ticket..

    says 55 on 35, speeding 19-23 over.

does anyone know of that whole "city citation" and ticket not going on record/insurance.
    thats what cop said..

doesnt go on your record? so the officer blatently admitted that his jurisdiction does not report to the georgia department of motor vehicle services... i'm pretty sure by law they're supposed to...

what i would do (and god knows i've got a lot of tickets in my day LOL) is go to court. alot of times, they'll reduce the speed you were "clocked at" by 10mph if you plead guilty IN THE COURTROOM. if you just "pay the fine" the speed will most def not be reduced and if it DOES go on your record, i'm pretty sure 20 over is a 3 point violation. anyway... sometimes, like your case, that puts you below the 14mph limit and THEN it doesnt give you any points.

either way, good luck with it.

This past August, I went to my court date for a ticket I received earlier in the year and the judge dropped it down to a "City Misdemeanor" and it does not go on my record at all. It's as if I never got it. I paid the fine on that day. Last week I had to get an MVR for the past seven years and sure enough, that ticket was nowhere to be found. Later, QD.

    First off.. Slow down

Second go to court and plea guilty. The judge will usually give you an opportunity to speak in front of him once they ask you to approach the bench to discuss. If he gives you this chance, simply tell him/her that you were in the wrong, apologize and will work to ensure it will not happen again.

Fighting a speeding ticket is useless.. You will lose unless you pay for a good lawyer. You have no proof of the speed you were traveling at the time of said ticket. Just saying you are pretty sure you weren't doing that speed won't do anything.

Also trying to fight a speeding ticket in court will often make the judge hit you with maximum fines and penalties for wasting his time. Just remember the judge HAS heard every excuse in the book.

If this is your first ticket, go to court. A lot of areas will offer you the chance to either A.) be on a probationary period, usually 6 months. If you don't get a ticket in the time allotted, you will not have a speeding charge on your record. B.) Offer you a chance to attend a safe driving course. There are areas that have contracts with other companies that offer services in order to "boost the economy" with the safe/defensive driving courses. C.) You may have the ticket completely dismissed in court with accepting to pay the "court fines." These fines are usually between $45-$80

Either way I know speeding tickets aren't fun but it doesn't have to be anymore than that.

sorry but you couldnt be more wrong.....i have fought all of my tickets except for one and it was because i knew i was guilty and he dropped it 10mph anyway....but if you have a good understanding of the law you can usually catch cops in their own mistakes, but understand if you dont do your homework and know it then you basically just shot yourself in the foot.

this sounds like your first one, just go to the court and plead Nolo/No contest and regardless of speed you wont get any points..

My first ticket was 85 in a 55, paid 70 bucks and was clean. They lower it when you go the arrainment

I plead guilty for doing donuts in a parking lot and the cop gave me a county ordinance violation, i guess cops are all about this because the money goes into the county's budget rather than the states. With the ordinance violation it doesnt go against your record because it isnt considered a traffic ticket, its considered to be just breaking the rules of the city/county you are in.

depending on the judge he can opt to not accept NO-LO plea because its not a right that is given to you by the constitution i found that out when talking to a lawyer that represents us at the dept of corrections when i got a ticket about 4 months ago so don't count on a NO-LO plea as a way to not pay the ticket the fine will not be over a hundred dollars and remember this ...

since we are ina slow economy and taxes revenues are not as high as counties and cities are used to the fines and frequency of tickets being issued are going to be higher

Let me tell ya'll somthing I am an Allstate agent and I can tell you that no matter what you want to call it municipal misdomeanor or a true speeding ticket, the only way it won't show up on your record to have the judge tear the ticket up. You may still have to pay the fine, but if that ticket makes it from the judges bench to the solicitors office it will be on your record, and insurance will find it if they run an MVR and if it is on there not even the judge can take it off and you will be stuck with it. Don't believe cops or judges they are all crooks when it comes to money. They tell you that B/S to get you to pay the ticket thats it. If you fight it tell the judge you were speeding and you "RESPECTFULLY REQUEST TO HAVE THE SPEED REDUCED TO 11-14MPH OVER POSTED SPEED AND TO HAVE THE CITATION REMOVED FROM COURT AND COUNTY RECORDS". That usually is your best action.

well, heres my advice. my dad is in the georgia state patrol and this is what he told me to do when i got my ticket. go to where you would pay the ticket, or to the police station and request that the ticket be reduced to where there wont be any points taken off your licence and your insurance wont go up. but tell them you will pay the original fine. worked for me.
