I've heard at least 15 minutes if trying to recharge a dead battery by letting the car run...

i drove it home after it was on. does it have to be on idle?

i know alot of times i had problems with winter coming around my car would stop starting. most of the time because a sensor on the throttle was too cold or the starter was to cold, cant remember which one. but everytime it happen i would just warm it up and it would start fine.

you can find out if your alternator is holding capacity as well.. jump start it however you started it up and disconnect the battery! it should stay on ONLY if the alternator is holding power, if it dies after you disconnect the battery then .. it's a badd alternator! and the alternator is draining your brand new battery to it's last breath 8D
