mods to evo without voiding the warranty!!!

thinking about getting an evo, but my concerns are getting some more power out of it and being able to sneak it through the dealership. so my thoughts were for basic bolt ons that wont void the warrany or things that can easily be removed like downpipe, exhaust, intake. but the real question is tuning. i have been looking at the cobb access port because you just plug it into the obd plug and if the car has to go in for work i can put all the factory settings back into the ecu. has anyone used the access port or recommend something else that can be easily removed without a trace. thanks

I have a friend that had to do the changing of his ECU before/after he goes to dealerships on his 07 GLI....have u checked any mitsu (other than ia) forums and see what they said about it?

Savannah Mitsubishi in savannah,ga is known to be mod friendly
Easley Mitsubishi in Upstate south carolina is great

even if you do say get a exhaust,mbc,intake,and say a flash or custom tune this could all be removed in about 2 hours. And to flash your car back to stock just get yourself a laptop and a tactrix cable download ecuflash. Then all you have to do is save your stock tune and your custom tune on your computer and flash it back to stock before you go to the dealership. But i dont know if a dealership would go that far to look into your ecu only if you blew the motor or something like that

I know how "hearsay" is, but word on da skreet is that if Mitsubishi findes out that your car has been involved in any kind of timed event (dragstrip, autoX, road course) your warranty will be void. Again, this is just something I have heard...

Subaru did the same thing, dealerships browsing the forums and websites finding the people making the claims were signed up on autocross and track events (and seeing the the results)...claiming to void the warranty.

Yeah, thats what I heard. Something about Suburu that I thought was pretty scandolus was that when you buy an STI, they give you a year membership to the SCCA to sucker you in. Do you know if thats true too?

Makes sense right, sell a track bred street car, essentially a streetable track car with performance tires and parts then void the warranty if it's used for what it was intended for, lol.

I think you'll still have a warranty if you just change the oil by yourself. Even then that might have some provisions...... like if you didn't tighten it down to 21 inch lbs, VOID! If you didn't use mitsubishi oil and filter, VOID! and such stuff like that. I could be slightly off....
