Default Integra problems still NEED HELP BAD!

I took my car to an import specialist and they charged me $260 to diagnose the car and "fix it"! I took it in thrursday and took it home at 6 today. I drove it around for a couplle of hours and the same problem came up. The check engine light came on and it started idling funny up and down. The code was the idle air controller and or some vacuum leaks. He took off the Iac and said it was clean as a whistle and thats cause I took it off and cleaned it myself. He replaced two hoses and the pcv valve and said it was fixed. Also said he took of the throttle body which I doubt. What the hell should I do? Has anyone else had this problem? He said that there was air bypassing the throttle body somewhere but he didnt know where. I am so pissed off that I had my car there 2 days and $260 later it's still doing the same shit! CAN SOMEONE WHO KNOWS ABOUT THIS SHIT GIVE ME SOME HELP?

sounds like this will fix it, and i also wrote about how you can kinda check for a vacuum leak.

umm... what code is it throwing? it's pretty easy to diagnose with the helms manual.

if you don't get it running right, let me take a look at it. i'll give you my opinion for free as a fellow dc2 owner.....

someone's teg was throwing the same code and asked the question on another forums and got this reply

Is your idle surging if so 1st just check your coolent level if low you will get this code. on the under side of the throttle body their is a idle air control valve some people call it the fast idle valve replace it. remove body- clamp off the coolent lines -unplug -remove screws and swap out for new. Hondadoc2112

but you don't need to replace the idle air control valve, go to the link i sent you and it shows you how to fix it.

look i had something like this in my civic. if you changed out the t/b then it can be the gasket..... you can have a leak in the t/b gasket making like you have a vacuum leak.. try that. its only like 5 dollars to do that, and it will take all of 20 min.... good luck man

    OK brake it down.

    you cleaned youR IAC.

you checked for vaccum leaks. ( the specialist SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT)

you checked for brakes in the IAC wiring/specs( AGAIN THE SPECIALIST SHOULD HAVE CHECK THAT).

you checked your TB and adjusting screw.

i guess i really does'nt hurt to check you FITV.

tkae it to VUONG's hes closest to you man .,

BTW: NEVER GO THAT SPECIALIST EVER AGAIN

Those are two different things. the FITV is on the throttle body. The IACV is on the intake manifold iteslf. depends on the engine, but on B series i think it is on the back of the intake manifold just where the throttle body bolts up. It has two wires coming from it and two hoses. The FITV is on the bottom of the throttle body. 75% of the time if you have an idle surge problem (not leak related) it is the FITV. There is a bronze colored plate on one side of it with two screws holding it in. take it off. Inside there are two pieces. One piece is a large cylinder that is threaded on the outside and screws in and out of the passageway inside the FITV. chances are that it has backed out. It has a notch on either side of it. Screw it all the way back in, then a half turn out or so. its summer, so you wont have a problem with cold idle, but when winter comes around, you may need to adjust.

Take it back to the mechanic that "fixed" it and tell him to remove the throttle body and adjust the FITV.... and that you want a partial refund for your trouble. You could have replaced two hoses and cleaned the IACV for about $20 and in about 15 minutes anyway.... I guess he charges $1000/hr for labor.. then never take anything back there again.

When it starts surging spray some carb cleaner around the intake manifold. Note where you spray, if the car dies all of sudden where you sprayed, the car is leaking air into the engine at that point.

i would bet $ that your throttle body gasket is leaking. get a cardboard milk carton and cut it out in that same shape and scrape off the old gasket and use that. problem solved and $ spend = free.

Really ? A milk carton? How bout I just order a new one?? The one on there looks new but It could be leaking. I will try replacing the throttle body gasket. My neighbor said something about an o2 sensor becuase of the aftermarket exhaust.

well it was bronze once upon a time... its probably corroded. anyway it is round in the middle with two screws holding it on. It will come off. take the screws out and use a flat head to get under it and pry it off.

Dude it's just not there. I took the throttle body off and looked at it for half an hour. There is something that resembles your bronze plate with 2 screws but this has 2 screws with no head. it's like they are rivits or how ever you spell that. There is nothing like you have described on my throttle body. I also went to the local auto zone and the tb gasket that is on my car matches that of a type-r gasket. I am wonderin if someone has upgraded my tb to a type-r tb???????? I asked for a gsr gasket and took it home and it wouldnt fit so I took my gasket up there and its the type-r tb gasket. Does any of this sound weird to you? Can any one show me the difference in the type-r Throttle body and the gsr??? Pics
