    Default honda a/c help

    '00 civic d-series

charged/pressurized and clutch/compressor engages as well as fan kicks on.

still doesn't blow cold. could the compressor be bad and not compressing properly?

it's starting to get hot and i don't want to go through the summer w/o it.

What do you mean pressurized?? If I remember correctly AC is supposed to be a vacuum before its charged.

it was vacuumed before being charged and worked for a couple years then stopped blowing cold w/o any warning. i checked it thinking i may have a leak so i went to charge it and the system is still pressurized/charged and clutch is still engaging.

    tracy, where is autocool located?

Sound like it could be a leak somewhere. The reason i say that is because if it wasnt charged, it wouldn't allow the compressor to kick on. If it wasnt any Freion(sp) in the system.

Isn't there a dye of some sort in the system? I'd have to go against a leak just due to the simple fact he said the clutch is still engaging. Could be the pump itself is going bad. Not the clutch, but the internals.

theres a pressure switch that if the compressor has low pressure it releases the clutch, so id guess its compressing ok but htere may be a problem else where. you really need to have a set of gauges put on it to find out whats going on. also is htere any chance of your evaporator being clogged or the air door not working?

i had a mazda mx3 that the air never worked in and a guy put something on the line and blew some stuff out of it and it worked great. he said who ever charged it got trash in it and he cleared it. this may not be your problem but its a thought.
