    Default serious problem

.... was changing spark plugs.... couple were stuck.. my room mate was helping me... and one broke... the threads are left in the damn head.. and the rest of the plug is out...

is there anything i can do to get it out without disassembling the head?

i don't have the money to take it to a shop.. i don't get paid for eight more days.. and even if i could i can't crank the damn car.. so i'll have to get it towed at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there is just a hole left with the threads in it... the plug is actually stripped from the thread.. not just broken.

Its gonna make a mess in ur plug hole, but put some silicone in ur socket, and try that.

Or, find yourself some kind of lag bolt or screw. a magnet to hold it from falling, and get it to catch threads in whats left of the plug. Get the plug loose and spin it out, then get yourself some long dicked needle noses and reach in and grab the screw you just threaded into the plug.

First, try a peice of electrical tape. Put it across the end of the socket, and jam it down on the plug.

looks like a simple bolt extractor should work...but you will have to get an extension shaft to fit down the head to get to the plug...

Something like this if you can find one big enough...

    http://www.aldn.com/drillout/

...but it might be kinda hard to keep it centered while trying to drill into the remaining spark plug threads.

There should be a cone shaped tool that you can drop in the hole and lighly hammer it in to bite then turn counter clockwise...maybe something like a router bit? The only problem will be trying to grasp the shaft (that's what she said ) bc i'm pretty sure they are all rounded vs. being hex shaped.

well, i found out i've got a blown headgasket anyway... so i'm gonna take the head off and replace the gasket.. and still get an ez out to take the spark plug aids out...

is there anything tricky about taking the head off that i should know? timing belt problems??? anything... or does anyone have a guide i could check out? would a haynes manual do me any good?

do gasket sets come with intake mani gaskets?

i'm so in over my head with this crap.. and i don't want to put any money into fixing this considering i was gonna do a swap...

oh and any good places to get my head machined?

With an LS you always want a spare sitting on an engine stand...build it up and play with it in your spare time then when the other one goes you're all ready to swap. Maybe your car's paying you back for talking about putting in an automatic

I have a extra LS(b18b1) Long BLOCK you could use. the piston 1&3 are bad everything else is good. I need this thing gone asap $150 you can take the whole thing. I don't give damn what you do with it. If you just need the head then take the head and sell the block.

If you need a hand, i'm right in kennesaw. What motor is in your car? I'm more than happy to lend a hand. Get me outta the house, and help a fella out. You just need the basic tools more or less, and a torque wrench

If its just a head gasket, and the spark plug It could be done in a matter of hours I have a torque wrench, and I have a precision square i can use to make sure the heads flat still.

Get the car up in the air. There's a bracket that goes from the mani, to the block. like 4 12mm headed bolts.

I found it easier to take the mani on and off while the heads off the car.

Yes, leave the manifold on the head till the head is off, this is alot easier. There is one bolt under the manifold thats attaches it to a bracket on the motor, just remove it and then take the head off

liek he said lossen the T or honestly wait for some one to give you a hand if you cant take to a shop.

but if you insist on DIY, buy the manual. and dont warpt he head when your taking it off. carefull on setting the timing belt when your all done .(might as well replace it )

    and BUY the manual.

Or you can just take the all the bolts that hold the head down out then turn the head up on the back end and slide the belt off and replace head gasket then do reverse to put it all back together. thats what i did when i replaced my piston rings.
