Sever conditions clause makes sense. I guess they couldn't come out and say, "if you beat the living shit out of the car on a regular basis use this"

lol basically the way I understand it, clearences are kinda large in these motors and when combined with the high heat from "spirited" driving, the thining of most 5-30 oils (alledgedly, mobile1 thins a bit more/quicker than most) renders them inferior for engine protection. I agree with steve that I cannot prove the motor would've endured with a different oil, but I feel like it would've stood a better chance. I will know more upon teadrdown...

    There's a 50/50 chance I'll be out.

Bad day at work so some fresh air would be nice.

Here's the story on what's going on at work...

In the month of January 2012, we had a customer call in asking for an estimate to replace the front wheel bearings, front pads/rotors and rear shoes. I provided him with a quote and he scheduled an appointment to have the service performed. Keep in mind that I did not ask why he wanted the wheel bearings replaced. We perform said work late part of January.

Three weeks go by and we receive a certified letter from this customer requesting a refund for the labor and part costs associated with the wheel bearings plus a tow bill of $150. WTF? This was totally out of left field. I call the customer immediately inquiring about whats going on. He tells me that he was in Gay, GA one night when he started to hear a weird noise coming from the front end. He pulled over and had the vehicle towed to a motorcycle shop in Fayetteville. They supposedly found the wheel bearings to be 100% dry...impossible as the technician that worked on this vehicle packed the new bearings full of grease. I know because I remember seeing him doing it as I was asking him questions about another vehicle he was going to be working on. I asked for the information for the shop that supposedly fixed the car and gave them a ring. The lady informed me that they don't keep old parts so she had nothing for me to see. I called the customer back asking him why he didn't have the vehicle towed back to our shop since we're closer than Fayetteville and the fact that we were the ones who worked on it last. His response, "I didn't think about it". Ok, well we offer a 12k/12month warranty on both parts and labor but the warranty work must be performed in-house. No if, and or buts. I mention that without having these old parts to prove that they were in fact defective, I won't be able to issue a refund. We left it at that.

Another week goes by and I receive another certified letter stating that he wants us to issue a refund for the tow bill? WTF? No. I call him again inquiring about the second letter. He now states that the shop in Fayetteville has the old parts. I call the said shop again and the same lady I originally spoke too says she's had the parts the entire time? When I informed her that the first time we spoke, she said they don't keep them, she doesn't recall ever talking to me about it. Bullshit. I call the customer back informing him that if he can bring me the defective parts, I'll issue a refund. He tells me I have to go them. Nope. You're asking for the refund, you get the parts. He said he'll think about it and get back to me.

Today, we were served a notice from the magistrate court from this customer for negligence of warranty of the parts and improper repair work. He's also asking for the tow bill to be refunded as well. Good luck buddy.

My issue with this whole ordeal is the fact that instead of him calling us informing us of this issue, he immediately goes to Google reviews and writes a negative review (he's now deleted it if you wanted to read it) and sends us a certified letter asking for a refund. That's not the way this shit works. He never gave us the opportunity to make it right. I can honestly say we're one of the few honest shops that stands behind our work. It's not uncommon (not that we get them on a daily basis but it can/does happen) for us to receive defective parts and which we'll replace without any questions as long as it's within the warranty period; we'll cut the customer a break should they experience an issue just outside the warranty period.
