Is your hatch swapped?
That's not the idea here, but if that's what you chose, so be it.
First of all: This is NOT "steve's thread." I'm the number one poster in here because I have no life... lol However, I'm friends with almost everybody that posts in here and socialize with them on a regular basis so i hear what just about everybody has to say about pretty much anything. I usually know who's got what planned before anybody else and if they need a favor, they know they can ask me.
But I havent been around forever. I was new to the group at one point in time and i have EARNED THE RESPECT of those here before me. Firby911, FlipA and Smokinfastlegend have all showed up after me. Guess what? They earned the respect of others here before them just as I have. Hell, even Bbuba has earned some degree of respect.
Ross and Ezone, you guys just showed up in here and your first impression wasn't a great one. But we try to look past that and not pass judgement right away. But it never got better.
I'll start with Ross:
You wanted help with lowering the car. You said you had Ebay springs. You had Ebay coilovers- HUGE difference. You bought something and didn't even know what it was! That's insane.
You wanted help with the swap and I was glad to help because your seemed eager to learn and I like that, but when I tried to help and offer advice you would get back to me and say that "your friend that has/had 11 civics said such-and-such..." Thats a slap in my face. If your gonna tell me that shit after I spend my time helping you and doing some of your homework, then dont ask me shit- ask your friend since he's had 11 civics/hondas. Just because he's had 11 doesn't give him much credibility. He couldn't have had any one of them for long enough to seriously BUILD, nevertheless build extensively and for a dedicated purpose.
Alot of the information you give/say is highly inacurate! and even though its not intentional, your lying to people by giving them bad info. You cant help people if you cant help yourself first...
Ezone:
Your guilty of the last bit as well, but not as bad. However, you bought wheels not knowing anything about offset or fitment. Why would you not research something like that first?! You have no clue the negative effects that come with those wheels, nor did you seem to care!!! You got rid of them because the tires would rub because they were too wide from what I understand.
This brings me to our last complaint... If a tire fails at any speed the potential for extensive damage is great! You could total the car, kill yourself, or kill somebody else. Why the fuck would you go 120mph knowing that the tires were dangerously close the fenders and would rub them on bumps and dips?!?! For cryin out loud- you claimed numerous times that you could smell the burnt rubber!!!! You keep it up son, and you'll earn the Darwin Award. We all drive a little crazy from time to time, but we put basic safety first- its only comon sense and you have yet to display any of that....
We keep telling you guys to search- use google, bing, whatever search engine you like. Honda Tech is loaded with info as is superhonda. Both have great FAQ sections and search functions- i would know since I've used them extensively over the last 8 and a half years... Despite this you usually laugh and act as though we're joking and refuse to take us seriously. We're all here to help each other, but I or anybody else is not gonna spoon feed you in this thread!!!!
I will not name the individuals that have complained, just know that there is more than one or two and that it has been going on for awhile now.
I hope i represented everybody that wanted something said, and I hope I covered all the bases....
Is there a clapping smiley? Would be useful right about now.

I don't post in here much at all and don't really ever come to meets. I don't know if I have any level of respect here or not but I have had many Honda's over the years and I am still learning. Some of these young guys are just not street smart and need to listen and learn. I have been in this game for 10 years and went from stock/slow to slammed/rollin out. Hanging with the right people and watching/doing it gets you there. There are a lot of Dumb ass people on here that act like they know a TON but have no clue, anyone can buy parts and slap them on a car. To the Newbs: Don't think that everyone here likes/hates you when you just got in, it takes a while to move up the ranks. Hell I used to race Tommy, Chant, Steve and a bunch of these guys back in the day when JDMm was unheard of. Get the chips off your shoulders and DO WORK!! Take all criticism lightly and roll with it. Most people on here try to see what your made of and test your limits, take it as a right of passage and move on. Learn what works and what doesn't and DIY is the best way. Peace
damn it got queit in here.... lol
To start "defending" myself:
With the coilovers, I wanted to lower my car WITH them. When ever I looked up the word "coilovers" I always got the strut-spring combo. I was confused by that and refered to them as "lowering springs" due to their purpose in my situation. I recently purchased "coilovers" that ARE the strut-spring combo. Yes I did (and still do) want help with my swap. You were giving me the options of chipping my ecu and converting to OBD1, etc. I wanted to keep it OBD2 to save money for now. I'm not lookin' to kill in the 1/4, I just want to get it faster for me. You told me to get a full y8 engine harness because of the IACV on the intake mani. I researched it and it was really expensive. I asked you if there was any other option, and you said no. I went to that buddy of mine and he said he could splice wires from a harness into my existing one and make it work. This WASN'T dissing you or insulting you in anyway. You told me it was really difficult, yes, that is why I'm not doing that part. I took all of your advice and researched based on it. I am now at a completely different (and positive) point with my swap than I was before. He has bought and sold a lot of hondas and impresses me with his knowledge of them whenever I ask him questions, just like I am impressed with yours. He's done swaps, mini-mes, turbos, you name it, and that's why I referred to him. This does not make him better, this makes him knowleegeable, just like you Steve. I have bought and sold parts from all over Georgia, I have done my research, I have talked to people (outside of IA and my friend) and have learned a lot. I'm not an expert by any means and do not try to act like one in anyway. In this thread I have not once talked out of my ass and defended it till death. Recently, I remember a lot of you guys hatin' on Ezone and I's conversation about turbos. I just went back and the ONLY part that could make me a dumbass in anyway is when I talked about garrett turbos and their spool rates. I have no clue what that means. I talked to another guy in an autoparts store and he was talking about his turbo build and why he choose garrett over greddy (and that was his reason). I have recently discovered different sized turbos have different boost and spool rates. I still don't know shit about turbos. <---this is the only information I have offered, and I just admitted it wasn't "my" information. I'm not a liar, I don't lie. I am doing my research and ask as little questions as possible unless I cannot find a credible answer. Steve, I still want your help, advice, and brutal honesty. Most importantly, I want your respect, in time. As well as everyone else's. I've tried to talk to everyone at the meets so far and ask questions (not stupid ones) to make myself known and "earn" cred. I'm still a newb, but I am a man, I expect at least that much respect from you guys.
I hope I represented myself well with this, and I hope I covered all the bases.
*cough*
I just found out that, if you pack your kid's lunch for school, you still get billed for their lunch unless you notify the school.
What kind of fucked up shit is that? That means they just bill you for the day, no matter if the student is even at school or not?
from what I've heard from people that were there, this is HIGHLY debatable...
You can splice wires for the IACV: you made it sound like you wanted me to help you with the swap- i was game. But when I do something- I do it the right way, the professional way- ask those that were familiar with my previous car: zero corners get cut. An entire harness would be soo much easier and the correct way to do it.
As for cost, I tell everybody to take their time. Just because Steve's got a bigger turbo and a six speed swap doesn't mean that by next month I gotta be rockin an even bigger turbo and a seven speed. Anything worth having is worth sacraficing for- in your case time and money...
Your right, I was refering to your conversation about turbos.... You were WAY the fuck off with just about everything you said, but if you are going back and researching, Kudos: here's an interwebz cookie. For future reference: don't discuss technical info on a level higher than your knowledge base.
Suspension: You have ALOT (key word) to learn. I would advise finding a FAQ section on a major honda forum and read up.
We got a letter on the 10th saying we owe $4, so we paid that off, and started packing her lunch. Today, I get a letter saying we owe $12.
Hell no. I haven't been waking up at 6:30 in the morning to make a damn PB&J for no reason. Nor did I buy bananas, applesauce, and juiceboxes to still be charged $2 a day for a non-balanced lunch.
Don't you just love the Coweta Co school system. I have 1 more year left till my daughter hits Kindergarten then another 2 years and my son goes in. God bless us all.
What is highly debateable?
EDIT: If they're talking about the E85 shit, then yeah coming from them, people who know about it. I had no idea about its octane rating or use by the boosted community. I researched that when I got home, just like Robert told me to do. I did carry conversation about it, I didn't see anyone else jumping in lol.
He actually told me wrong, he's pulling an entire harness from an y8 ex to use in my car. My bad :/
I'm doing what I want to my car that makes me happy. Pushing ~135whp NA is what I had planned since I had the car. That's what I'll have roughly after my vtec swap etc.
I'm saving my money for bigger and better things, a rebuild, a turbo set up, idk what else. I'm not competing with size or whatever...I'd be really broke.
With the turbo thing, like I said, that's the only time I've given technical "advice" (stretching it there) and I won't unless I know exactly what I'm talking about...so don't expect much from me in that aspect lol.
I've done my research for suspension after that and know a good amount of info on spring rates, coilovers, lowering springs, struts...I'm still no expert by ANY means.
I rape honda-tech and clubcivic forums with research...I got it lol.
Am I free from the firing squad?
Pushing ~135whp NA is what I had planned since I had the car. That's what I'll have roughly after my vtec swap etc.
Not gonna happen with SOHC bro unless you decide to build it. Stock is only 130bhp, whp is a lot lower. I have had many many SOHC's in my days they are fun and you can RAPE DOHC's with the right set up.
Not whp maybe like 110 at the most. It tales more than bolt on's and a chip to get that out of a SOHC. And please refer to it as a HEADER there is only 1. You will need a cam, catback, pistons, IM maybe even head work. look in allmotor section and see some of the builds in there.
Yes I did make a dumb or idiotic decision to have traded my wheels for those which I regret so much. But hey everyone makes mistakes I had no knowledge of how it would be to ride on a 0 offset I didn't even bother gathering information which was error number one on my part and never again will commit it again. My second error was filling this thread with questions when I could have used the internet. And my third error was driving at 120 on uneven roads with my tires rubbing I had no idea of how dangerous it could of been I just wanted to push my car to its limit which now I know was stupid of me
I know that respect is not given to you on a platter, its earned and ill do anything to earn respect on this thread..
If I missed any other errors please let me know

http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/...Allmotor-D16Z6, there are a ton of build threads to get ideas of power and even parts from.
Ez-ONe, did you install the new wheels? If so post up pics and change your SIG. Respect is earned not given/taken, do what you do and learn from it.
^^^^Man some people just have too much money!!
I just got my F&F coilovers!! I should be low by the meet friday
*crosses fingers, toes, arms, eyes....*
Whoa, this thread blew up.
O well, I'm pulling the GTI's tranny out tonight. Yay....
Edit: Honestly, right now...I'm way to lazy to criticize or praise in this thread at the moment.
We have a lot of smart, dumbass, and neutral people here....let's all just get along.
I've seen Bolt-on stock internal SOHC d16z6 motors make in excess of 120whp. I'm a big Z6 fan... (and a big non vtec fan- even with D series!)
Free from the firing squad? As far as I'm concerned, yeah.... But your on probation... I just stepped up and explained how the majority feel about the situation.
We cleared the air and everybody know knows what they did wrong and what they need to do in the future, right??????
kinda non related: some of the best builds will not be found on any forum, or any magazine, or any TV show. They will be found at track days and on the streets. Some of the best most intriguing builds I've ever seen on the web were built several years ago and have successfully flown under the radar. Why? Because the people that build them do it with their own money (most magazine cars if you notice they're budget free shop cars), time, blood and sweat. They don't do it for money, for fame, or for chicks. They do it for the reasons people like steve and I do it: they simply love it. They build to compete at whatever venue they so desire be it autoX, road course, or the the street and they learn on their own before and during the process.
I remember when adjustable FPR were considered "tuning." I remember when drifting first showed up. I remember when body kits and neons were cool. You can better see the road ahead if you can clearly see where we have come from. I was a newb ricer at one point in time, but i grew out of it before I ever legally drove thank God.
You can learn so much from these archives (i have the original magazines from when they were deliverd to my door years ago. I used to get Turbo, Import Racer, which was canceled as soon as it changed to "Drifting," SCC, Honda Tuning, and Super Street every month and read them cover to cover!!)
http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/tech/index.html

http://www.modified.com/tech/index.html
When I was done reading the magazines I went here and started reading:
http://vtec.net/articles/index?page_...te%5fsort=desc
These articles are dated 2002 but I think they were published on this site in 2002. The original articles and reviews were made in the 90's!! These were written by the pioneers of our industry. These are the og's that made it possible to further the sport and community we all enjoy today!!! I still go back and read some of these old articles. Why? Because they are direct and to the point. Unbiased. And written by true enthusiastits who did what was once considered crazy and retarded (we're talkin the early years from 1990-200) because they believed it could be done! They took a FWD car and ran 13's. Then 12's, 11's, 10's, and now they're daily driving FWD cars that can run 9's!!!!!
Like you guys seem to understand- respect is earned. I've earned mine from many. But more importantly- I give the credit and respect to these guys that I learned from because they made it possible!!!
^^^^Well said my friend well said, now where's my repps, lol catch yall later.
