I owned the 2g 8gig, the 3g 16gig White and it messed up on me. Went to Apple, they gave me a brand new 3g 16gig White.
Tip, if you used a plastic phone protector, apply masking take to the back of your phone so it doesn't get scratched up. My 1st 16gig got knicked like crazy b/c of all the debry in my pockets.

Zagg.com has a great cover for it. the material they use is whats on top of the heli blades they make cover for phone laptops cameras nav headunits and so on

I know what you mean, But i really dont consider it a phone FIRST. Its more of a mobile multi-media communication device. Thats probably why people call it an iPhone and not just a phone. And truthfully, I use the ipod and internet MORE than I use the phone itself

Lol. The iPhone is the late 00's version of the RAZR in that it is very ubiquitous. It has its pluses and minuses. The new version is not quite groundbreaking...and neither was the 3G when it came out. Its a lot of money to pay for the addition a compass and a slightly faster phone (if you already have one).
The hardware as a phone platform probably has ~2 more years in it before it goes the way of the razr, and people start getting new phones.
Have you seen the numbers? The iPhone is the best selling phone or #2 and its not cheap like the Razr. Now with a $99 version, iPhone sales will only increase.
I've had dozens of phones and I was one that hated the iPhone at first. Its marvelous. I keep my BB for business but it just isn't the device the iPhone is.

So..? Its got a ton of features for the price, so what if other people have it? Everyone i know has a bathroom in their house.. that doesn't make me want to build a house without one. If you base every purchase in your life on whether someone else has it, youre not going to be a very happy person. By the time ANY product is on the market.. someone else already has it. Who cares?
The iPhone will never be like the razr. It was a piece when it came out and still is. And the way apple is going with a new handset every year, two years from now it can only get better

The iPhone in its current state (even the new one) isn't really pushing any boundaries. 1-2 years from now, phones with less rigid control over how to use the hardware will have eclipsed the iPhone in terms of versatility.
Example: You can't use whatever-mp3 you want as ring tone and apple is known for denying programs access to their marketplace.... I think there are like 3-4 android phones coming out this year. I don' think apple will be able to keep up.
For Pete's sake, you guys don't even have MMS picture messaging until June 17! The 'piece' RAZR could even do that.
I'm not knocking anyone for liking the iphone, it does have a pretty, easy-to-use interface.... but its not top dog anymore. The Palm Pre has been getting some good press lately.
With garage band I can take anything I want and make it a ringtone.
MMS, while a new feature now, us with iPhones have had it since the iPhone was born. It's called email which was just as easy, if not easier

There's nothing new about the Iphone 3g S. "It has a 3megapixel camera." This is PHONE, it's not a dedicated camera, so the difference in camera quality is not going to be noticeable. "It has a compass." Really....a compass...and how many of you are actually gonna use this? Not just that, this is a data-based compass, meaning you have to have a data connection for this thing to function properly. So when your in the middle of the ocean or in the wilderness when a compass is actually needed, you more than likely won't have a cellular connection which means your compass doesn't work. "It has voice controls." I bet you EVERYONE has had owned a phone with voice control and never once used it. It's just not convenient and it's time-consuming.
Your way better off buying a 3g now that they're $99 and wait for the 3.0 update. Of course, you can come to my store and pick up either a 3g or a 3g S and i'd be more than happy to sell you one

Not really. But I think in that case it was the same processor, the phone was just using less resources so it could move faster when you needed it to. In this case I think it's the unit out of the iPod touch

Update: AT&T confirms that most iPhone 3G owners will be eligible for the good upgrade price after 18 months.
