    With that fifth pick, San Diego chose LaDainian Tomlinson. Tay Cody of Florida State was the third-round pick, and Florida receiver Reche Caldwell the 2002 second-round choice.
    Tomlinson has become one of the game's best running backs ever.
    Cody started 11 times as a rookie, then played in five games the next two seasons. A little injury plagued, he was released early in the 2003 season, played nowhere in 2004 and has been in the Canadian Football League the past two seasons.
    Caldwell caught 76 passes in four seasons at San Diego, left as a free agent and has 61 receptions this year for New England.
    Dwight caught 91 passes in four seasons at San Diego and has 35 catches during the past two in New England and with the New York Jets. His season ended early last month with foot and thigh injuries."

    "Giving Vick every credit for a win and blaming the rest of the world for a loss.
    Some of what they ignore is that Vick:
    • was 18th out of 19 NFC quarterbacks in fourth-quarter productivity - including no TD passes in the final quarter - and 12th of 18 in third-down passing;
    • failed to complete 50 percent of his passes in five games this year.
    • was the quarterback of a team that scored 14 points or fewer in nine of 16 games;
    • has completed a lower percentage of passes each of the past three years;
    • was sacked 45 times in 2006, the second most of his career.
    So he was sacked and still rushed for 1,000 yards, and his passing numbers decreased and the Falcons missed the playoffs. Becoming less a "great athlete" and more "an efficient and winning quarterback" is pretty much the deal right now."
    thank you, for posting all the stats i didn't know, and continuing to prove the point, that vick is overrated.

    Because, you said that the facts posted above proved your point that vick is overrated. The facts are used in a fashion that tries to shine a negative light on vick. You can make anyone look bad by saying only negative things about them. Im not saying that im a blind follower of vick or anything, just it bothers me that you seem so confident and assured that Vick is overrated. I may have been a little rude with what i said and i apologize for coming off that way. This topic just irritates me. Ill explain further a little later, gotta get ready for work.

    oh, well i just don't like vick period. i think he is a good athlete, but that he is not fit to play a quarterback in the NFL. or ar at least be the highest paid. thats why i call him overrated, because he makes the most money and doesn't produce very well. if he wasn't paid that much, then i wouldnt call him overrated because he would be producing the numbers that he was paid for. but right now he is underproducing for what the falcons pay for him. i have always thought this, and everytime i watch them play i think this. i never had the exact stats in front of me, so i was thanking him for posting them.

    Ok heres my opinion on the subject.

    Quarterbacks are typically the "lead-man" of a football team. They take the wrap when things go wrong and when they win, they get the most glory. How if the team as a whole isnt playing to par, then its gonna make the quarterback stick out and he will be the one catching the most heat for it. This is not to say that the quarterback isnt in fault, just that he is the center of attention. With Vick this is extremely true. When people watch the falcons play, they pay the most attention to vick. So if his receivers arent catching the ball, and his lineman arent blockin like they should, Vick cannot perform to his best. Then you have the fact that he holds the record for the most rushing yard for a Quarterback in the NFL, the Defense for other teams are expecting him to run. So they are set-up for him to run. This automatically puts him in the situation where he almost has to run the ball. In an interview he said that he doesnt like running the ball all the time. He said he wanted to show that he is still a lethal quarterback when he is passing. He thanked his lineman for protecting him aswell. People get this mental image of him being a prick and an asshole, when infact he may be, but we as fans have alot to do with it. When your constantly under the magnifying glass it puts alot of pressure on you. Then to have your every mistake, whether your fault or not, criticised wouldnt make you very happy either. We as fans hype Vick up, then if he doesnt meet our expectations, we blame him and get dissappointed. So how is it his fault that we expect him to be perfect under any condition? We expect him to complete every pass, convert every 3rd and 4th down, and dodge every tackle and logically thats impossible. But ill quit, i got carried away. Thats just kinda how i see it.

    Yeah, but when you are playing quarterback, you know that all of the responsibility comes with the territory. If you can't handle it, then you don't need to be in that type of position. Good quarterbacks can make passes that are always there, Great quarterbacks can make passes that aren't there. You have to make plays happen, not just hope they go according to plan. Fact is, Vick is progressivly getting worse and worse each year he continues to play, when he "should be" improving after every year. Like I said, you know the pressure of the position when you sign up for it, if you can't handle it (like he has proved with the middle finger), then you don't need to be in that position.

    Brett, your my boy and all, but you always talk about Vick doing bad simply because of the West Coast Offence. If that is the case, lets look at it this way.

    A true West Coast offense doesn’t have that many quarterback keepers, sprints and rollouts that Vick was using. So therefore, you shut down his running ability, you shut down Vick. If it is that easy to shut down Vick, how great of a quarterback is he??? He might as well switch to a RB position where he has those running abilities. The WCO was just focusing on his arm and throwing ability, not his running ability. Last time I checked, the arm is what makes a quarterback, not the legs.

    Brett, this is just for you. Its pretty funny. http://www.sportsgoons.com/volume2/V...west_coast.htm

    We will see, we will see.... I think we may all be suprised, I mean look how well he was progressing under Reeves, then when Mora came in his style/skill fell apart. If he doesnt improve for '07 he will have no one to blame but himself and he WILL NOT BE HERE AT THE END OF NEXT YEAR IF HE DOESNT KICK SOME ASS THIS COMING SEASON, thats just fact. Blank has already said that, so Vick needs to pull his head outta his ass, and play as if his career depends on it, because in all reality, It does.

    True. Vick is now in Mora's position this upcoming year. Step up or step it out.
