Ok, first, not ALL road racers think every other form of motorsport sucks. I used to be a HUGE drift fan, had my 240, all that, lol. Even when I got my Miata I wanted to drift. I have respect for it, it's cool, I go watch, etc. I don't really like the wannabe drift crowd with all the JDM crap and talk like they drift, and get out there and totally SUCK.
Road racers do buy engine mods too, suspension is big yes, but you have to have some power as well lol.
Some resources on why drifting would be slower, not sure about where to find a RESOURCE, but you think the cars running that section at drift Atlanta are faster sliding then regular driving? Ever noticed when a car loses his drift and drives normal on the sliding guys ass before initiating another drift? In say rally, small tight u-turns and such obviously would be quicker sliding, some tight mountain roads maybe.
If drifting was FASTER, why the hell do all race cars not drift? DRIFTING is more about style. Some road race cars do have four wheel drifts in many turns, not totally sideways d0rifto.
MskunkM no worries, I was just saying, i'm not mad or anything. I don't hate drifting like I said.
Now if someone wants to do an experiement, lets get a good drifter, and a good autocross driver at the next drift event. Time the drifter, then the autocrosser, I can bet some big money who will win.
Not trying to be a ****, just saying drifting is not FASTER. Stylish and all yes, good car control yes, but not the fastest way around a race track.
