I dont understand going through a build and still using cast pistons, but GL with the build! D-series def. have alot of potential. I enjoyed mine for a long time.

Mike, hate to bust your bubble, but Your Vitara Piston's won't hold 350+ for long.

Should of just went ahead and got aftermarket pistons. Good thing is that the D-series sleeves are strong.

    I'd suggest a A6 bottom end and a Z6 head.

run 25psi through anything an it will make good power, but it wont last long. i call bullshit on that too, thats prob that 4 door civic that was for sale. it must have been on a dynapack. So your telling me with a 2.25in exhuast, 2.5in test pipe, an a 7psi wg spring he did 400whp it must have been 1 time an spiked like a motherfucker. i dont see how you get 25psi from a 7psi spring

i just dont see him making over 400whp with a STOCK head, im and cam. But hes got a BIG ASS TURBO, so im sure his powerband is a nice 500rpms.

peak numbers isnt everything. halfwits doesnt make as much power, but it hits full spool FAST an holds, making it a fun an fast car

    p.s.. I know a few D-series tricks myself. I could make some power with a A6/Z6 combo.

The pistons wont hold past 350whp from what i have seen, an from what we have learned on halfwits motor, you will not see much past 300whp without a ported cylinder head an oversized valves.

the D heads run out of steam at 300whp. I have seen guys making over 300whp on simple setups, but i dont believe it, the turbo D series world is weird.

guys with stock motors, or Vitara pistons an STOCK heads make 400whp, then the next guy with a fully built an sleeved motor, ported head, cam, only make 350whp.

but still, that kind of power is still fun cause they make so much torque.

400whp i think is seriously out of reach without a crazy head

Mr. KiDD, how much boost can a stock d15b7 take safely? i don't know if you work with these motors often.

1psi less than when it blows up.

ie if it pops at 19psi, turn it back to 18psi

any d series STOCK motor, no more than 10psi

thnx, cause i have recently been thinking about turboing my civic, but i had wanted to do a minime with a y8 head just so i can test out my new port and polishing abilities, but i don't know yet, i'm leaning a lil more on the minime side.
but sorry if i'm gettin off topic.

when you figure out how to run a CABLE tranny in a HYDRO car seeing as their are no conversion kits for it, let me know

There are hydro zc trannys, but Full-Race had to make custom axles from DSS to get it to work properly.

youll need the biggest ballin head to support 400+whp, and i would def do a 1.6L. displacement is king

Vitara pistons won't hold 350whp for long at all.. it's cast aluminum. Not forged.

Highest WHP out of any SOHC XXXX D-series was a guy from UTAH.. 611WHP, top mount, t4, 82mm D16Z6 with a 1.7L crank, and 34psi. Guy spend a SHIT-TON of money on it.
