Im sure this process could be used with any kind of grill. I was just tired of the same ol' grill every other Accord has. Here is what i started with...
In the circle is where i started cutting on the middle bar. I only had a sawzall blade so the process took a while. a dremel tool would be great right about here..
After I got the bar out of the way, i sanded down the excess material with 60g sandpaper to make the whole thing flush..
Sanded that down with 100g to give the bondo something to stick to.
A drywallers trick: I used some painters tape to build the bondo on the holes and between painted part of the grill and the black part.
After the bondo was applied, i leveled it out w. 100 and test fitted it to make sure it fit and lined up.
I sanded the whole grill down with 240 and then primed it with a few coats of primer and adhesion promoter
After that I sanded the grill down with 400, sprayed about 3 coats of color, sanded that down with 600 and put another coat of color on. After that i shot about 3 coats of acryllic laquer clear.
Heres a couple pictures with the grill on after i sanded it down with 1000, 1500, 2000. Then polished and buffed to a nice finishNext step is to attach mesh on the back to protect the radiator
