Well you want your iso to be as low as possible. Next time try it at 50, but those numbers you are talking about (intervals of 1/5 1/20,30,40 up to 100 or so, then it went to 0"4 and up from there), that's your shutter speed. 1/5 means 1/5 of a second, then you have 1/20 of a second and so on. Once it gets to like "4, that means 4 seconds. You want to keep it open longer to compesate for the lower iso and lack of light.
So next time, lower your iso as far as you can, and try making the shutter speed longer and longer and that should really help you out.
