your thoughts on Black History Month

i feel "black american history" is amercan history, plain and simple. this only seperates the races even more, just like BET and AOL's "Black Voices". MLK Jr would is crying in his grave watching the idea he had, being spun into a reversed sort of racism. Instead of coming together as AMERICANS, we are being spoon fed how much we are different.

How many whites in the south are TRULY interested in black history though? I dont want to come off hostile in any way but hell a lot of whites here dont even like being around black people let alone try and learn something about their heritage.

I dont see the problem with a month of recognition personally. I'm sorry but while economically I will say there is a level playing field, socially there is not and I'm not sure if there will ever be. Black history month isnt being forced on anyone, if you don't believe then don't celebrate.. pretty plain in simple.

I've always been interested in all facets of history. Having a black daughter and a couple of relationships doesn't make me a "know-anything" about black culture, but the fact that I was/am interested gave me my knowledge.
