I want Boost

I want to boost my ls. Ive done some reading and some of u guys said that this kit would be decent. I have an ls swapped into a 98 civic coupe... would thi kit really be worth my money and if I did get it what other parts would I need to purchase to complete the install and setup. Please keep in mind im not trying to have massive amounts of hp my goal is some where between 230-275. this is my dd so i kinda need to make sure it stays intact. all advice is greatly appreciated....O and im not the most car savy person so please break it down to me in third grade

It looks to be a pretty good kit, but I'm not so sure it would be worth your money. Reasons being that
1. That turbo is a little too big for the power you are wanting to make which means you will just have more lag.
2. Since the kit is made for an Integra, the intercooler piping is not going to match up with your civic.
3. You will still need to buy injectors and some kind of fuel management, of which i would recommend buying an obd1 ecu and conversion harness and running uberdata.

For a good turbo setup, i would recommend giving Mainstream a call. You can get a complete kit with EVERYTHING you need including installation for around $3500 or so. That may seem a little high, but everything will fit like it is suppose to, u will have your fuel management, u will have a turbo sized accordingly with your power goals, and almost any shop is gonna charge somewhere in the range of $1000 to install that Vecco turbo kit anyways so you're really not paying anymore money.

ok I understand about the size of the turbo being to big and the piping not fitting but could it be possible that I could sell those and purchase the ones that I need. with out putting to much more into it. also I plan on doing the setup my self with maybe a few other friends so Im not gonna pay as much for the install. also for the conversion harness would i need the entire engine harness or do they just sell the conversion...

Yea, you could always do that if you wanted to. You could try that turbo out and see if you like it and you might be able to just modify the piping it comes with to fit, not sure.

As for the conversion harness, you dont need the whole engine harness, just a conversion one that plugs into your stock ecu cables and into an obd1 ecu. The harness will probably run around $90 or so.

Just get a Rev Hard kit, 450cc inj from a DSM, also hondata and you'll be fine. It might cost about $2800 for all that.

2800 is a little more than i really want to pay I know that Cheap and fast is not always reliable or fast and reliable is not always cheap.I kinda want to stay somehwere in the middle of the two. but i also dont want to spend over my set budget just incase i run into any problems, like always expected....

or--

piece together a good kit, install it yourself and then bring it to mainstream for tuning. in the long run you're better off getting the mainstream kit installed and tuned there.

I definately plan on going to mainstream to have it tuned. but I really want the install to be done by me. It will be my first but Ive done alot of reading on it and feel pretty comfortable about it and have freinds who have done it so I should be fine but if I do run into any problems, im pretty sure ill call mainstream.

i am running on parts not as good quality as all my buddies parts... which means i am always fixing my car after every run...

I completely understand what u are saying and im not trying to buy extremely cheap parts I just dont see the reason to purchase a $3000 turbo kit when i can peice together a kit of my own for way less. basically im just trying to get the best understanding of what parts are better and what parts are decent enough to where i wont get shafted and have to constantly work on my care..i appreciate the advice hopefully i can get this soon enough..

vecco is a good company, I have bought a lot of stuff from them. however, stay away from turbonetic turbo..They dont' last as long as the Garrett or Precision.

so true. some people have had decent luck, but myself and everyone i know locally has blown up many turbonetics branded turbos. never ever had an issue with a real garrett or the innovative i have now, know plenty of folks with precision turbos that have been great as well.
