Yeah but the top-end stuff he has (I am unfamiliar w/ his head builder), I still would not spin this motor over 9400 tops, and that's with setting the shift light to 9k or 9100 (it's called "leading", I know you know that though, but not every1 reading this will) to enure I do not bust 9400. I am not talking PEAK HP, I am talking USABLE HP... that's all. I understand what you are saying though... his gains down low w/ a modded b16 I/M may be worth the tradeoff of the JG I/M up top... know what I mean? At any rate... SICK a$s build!!!

EDIT: outside if the Ferreras (I'ma Supertech fan...LOL) can you build a sicker head than that??? YIKES!!! Hotness!!! I like!!!

think about how often you are below 7k... I know its an ls motor but it has a BADASS head on it and he plans to rev it to 9k or so. after 1st gear on slicks, powerband is not near as big of a deal. Its an ls motor though, its going to make torque where the hp lacks.

That was my thought process... (where are you gonna spend more time, below 7k or at 10k). A quik-shift is gonna drop him right back in the sweet spot (circa 5k) and then the spool game (and traction search game) begins again. I see your logic --> w/ respect to traction it may be safer to move the torque curve somewhere (higher) in the band where he has traction. Gotcha. More HP down low = more traction issues from a dig or a low-speed downshift... I'm followin' ya. That is a good point. People ask why I run 17s (wheels) on my stroker EG and that's the same concept... yeah I could spin some 15s faster, but from a dig I get better 60fts on the 17s simply b/c the motor can't roast 'em as easily. I am following your logic. Is this gonna be a full weight car?

EDIT: if he had the time though I'd toss him my b16 I/M just for the dyno to see the graphs overlaid... I think it'd be an interesting comparison w/ the longer runners
