I meant 'whatever you say' more in a "I'm not sure what you're talking about, but sure, whatever you say" kind of way.

I'm hoping to break 600whp and with a fat powerband. All I really want a fun, comfortable street car until I sell it.

Oh, and why would I 'punk out'? I'll run for fun whenever.

I won't be doing much drag racing until I'm done with the transmission and get some fat slicks.

    JDM Type R transmission
    Quaife LSD
DSS or maybe Gator Racing axles

That won't come for a while, though.

Axles were last on the list. Defintely need to get a Quaife though.

When are you headed back to Main Stream to turn up the boost?

Rest of the parts were ordered today.

    Competition Clutch, Stage 5
    Avid Racing motor mounts
    MSD 6al w/ Blaster coil
    TurboDave catch can
OEM timing belt, water pump, and oil pump
...and a few other misc. parts

I wish it were done before the Honda-Tech meet, but oh well.

I've still got to find some Crower 404s or 403s, though.

Is Scotty tuning with Crome Pro yet?

I agree, you snap an OEM axle, you can replace at the track if you break and still drive home. Although there are some stage 1s that will still have the factory hub. But I agree w/ spoolin... you want a fuse in the drivetrain... something that you WANT to give away 1st... I'd rather that be a 50$ OEM axle than the splines in the tranny.

Why the Victor X? If I am correct it only makes power from 7k - 10k. That's decent power but you'd have more USABLE power with the STOCK b16 manifold? They are hard to beat... maybe a pp but other than that you might not be doing yourself any favors w/ that I/M. What's ur take on it?

these motors make power 9000+ plus, with the size fo his turbo , hell need all the air he can cram in the head to make it spool.

any car over 300whp, you pretty much HAVE to have the JG manifold.

NA wise, they really arent needed unless your looking for 260-270whp. Even then, most guys go with ITBs

Yeah but the top-end stuff he has (I am unfamiliar w/ his head builder), I still would not spin this motor over 9400 tops, and that's with setting the shift light to 9k or 9100 (it's called "leading", I know you know that though, but not every1 reading this will) to enure I do not bust 9400. I am not talking PEAK HP, I am talking USABLE HP... that's all. I understand what you are saying though... his gains down low w/ a modded b16 I/M may be worth the tradeoff of the JG I/M up top... know what I mean? At any rate... SICK a$s build!!!

EDIT: outside if the Ferreras (I'ma Supertech fan...LOL) can you build a sicker head than that??? YIKES!!! Hotness!!! I like!!!

think about how often you are below 7k... I know its an ls motor but it has a BADASS head on it and he plans to rev it to 9k or so. after 1st gear on slicks, powerband is not near as big of a deal. Its an ls motor though, its going to make torque where the hp lacks.

That was my thought process... (where are you gonna spend more time, below 7k or at 10k). A quik-shift is gonna drop him right back in the sweet spot (circa 5k) and then the spool game (and traction search game) begins again. I see your logic --> w/ respect to traction it may be safer to move the torque curve somewhere (higher) in the band where he has traction. Gotcha. More HP down low = more traction issues from a dig or a low-speed downshift... I'm followin' ya. That is a good point. People ask why I run 17s (wheels) on my stroker EG and that's the same concept... yeah I could spin some 15s faster, but from a dig I get better 60fts on the 17s simply b/c the motor can't roast 'em as easily. I am following your logic. Is this gonna be a full weight car?

EDIT: if he had the time though I'd toss him my b16 I/M just for the dyno to see the graphs overlaid... I think it'd be an interesting comparison w/ the longer runners

i know from various dynos we have done that there is 50-60whp in a JG edelbrock manifold. it makes the turbo spool faster which means more midrange power.

the stock manifolds are too restrictive when your talking about this much power. also , like i said in Spoolins thread, there is NOBODY making 550whp+ with killer midrange an top end power, it cant be done, you must trade 1 for the other

Sorry for the lack of replies. Sort of forgot about this thread.

Yeah, as Mike said, it was replaced with a JG.

There will be videos to come of my tractionless wonder. Should hopefully be about another week until it's all said and done. Then the search (and saving) begins for the JDM Type R transmission or a nice GSR transmission with a Kaaz/Quaife.
