question about mixing B16 and B18 parts
My buddy wanted to know if he could run a JDM B16A block with a B18 stroker kit. Hes not sure if the deck height of the B16 is tall enough to run the B18 bottom end. He will also be using a B16 head. Will this work or does he need a B18 Block? What combos can you run with these two blocks/heads? thanks for any info ahead of time
thats a big negative.
You hit ti right on the nail. The deck heigth on the b16 is smaller, if you wantd to run this set up so it looks like a b16 but is actualy a 1.8 ltr then you would ahve to Deck it to make the 1.8 stroker, Im assuming you mean using 89mm crank and 137 mm rod or basically b18 guts.
If you try it you piston and head will have contact and make babys
I think the cheapest route to go is just a the ls block.
And about combos with LS blocks and Vtec head. They are hundreds of set ups and possibilities. Basically your typical Ls-Vtec great potential if built right

now are the rods of a B16 and B18 the same size or are they different lenghts? And would it be ok to put a B16 head on a B18 block with B18 guts as long as the head had bigger valves and the size of where the piston dets is the same size as the piston head?

you can mate a vtec head with an Ls block. just buy the golden eagle kit to do the conversion. you dont need over sized valves. its basically a direct bolt on minus plgin up an oil gally
