Yeah some of its legacy was pages and pages on forums of ppl going back and forth about it lol

You aren't too great at taking jokes are you? I knew exactly what the comment meant. Yeah, UGA is a wonderful school, top notch.
Also to comment I don't only like race cars, there are plenty of street cars I like, but a rusted out hunk of shit old BMW with some DUB wheels isn't one of them.
Ha! A Icon? Yea right, and I lol'ed again when someone in that thread said it should belong in a museum.

"He who judges a book by its cover will soon be staring at taillights."
yea but BBS > those (forgot the names of them...Works right?)
Yup they r works. Thats my personal favorite form of Rusty.
Why are people (that's not the owner) sad about this car? You knew it was about to crap out anytime by just looking at it.
it should be made into a art work like just sat there for people to inspire on

I would hate to drive that daily.
Sorry guys, but they're not Works. They're BBSs. A set of prototype wheels produced by BBS for work as the Equip prototype.
As for a piece of crap, it most certainly wasnt. I put over 100k miles on it in its life, the motor had ~400k miles on it, never rebuilt. Schrick cam, dinan software, SSK, intake/exhaust, etc... the car was not a slouch in the least.
I can understand thinking its ugly, and that's more than fair. I respect that. But let's not say its a hunk of shit. That car never let me down. I drove it all the way from here to Cali, up the coast, back down the coast, back to home...
then I turned around and drove it back to Dallas, TX.. then back home. And then to Florida, and back home. All within just a couple of months. It took it like a champ. Most cars wouldn't.
oh shoot! MR.B in the house!
Well those prototype wheels are not my taste, they look like cheap DUB wheels.
As for piece of crap, I don't mean unreliable, I mean rusted out and just nasty looking. My E30 has over 400k on the whole car and still runs great.
Just my opinion, obviously the car has lots of love.
I always liked this car because it was different from any other car I had ever seen before. It was a car that ALWAYS got people talking. Props to spasticdwarf for building a truly unique and influential car. You may not agree with me, and that's okay.
Unique? Nah. People have been doing this for a while now. Maybe unique for a BMW. Influential? Certainly not. I don't see any of his ideas being used on other people's cars. Iconic. Everyone is using some very undeserved adjectives for this car. I don't think it's a POS, but I don't think it looked all that great, either. The only thing I really liked was the body style (not condition) and the five star wheels. Later, QD.
Fake patina. Hahaha, that's cute.
Piece of shit. Good riddance.
I find it hilarious that it took 20 back and forth bickering girly replies to discover the owner posted in here...I was waiting for Mike to make an appearance lolol!
So... lemme get this right...
Its a rusty hunk of rust that someone invested time and effort on... and its cool because this rusty car makes people angry?
and ppl are sad that some rusty beemer died?...
wtf is wrong with you people?
Its just a fad anyways... the ppl who like the stance crap and hardparking are the same kind of ppl who rocked body kits and big stereos a decade ago. This fad will pass. A car being fast has/will ALWAYS be cool.
Mine really dosn't leave the garage. People across the street think it is a tool bench.
this vaguely reminds me of a certain bimmer forum......hmmm........
1) It was surface rust, most likely making fun of the rusted hood VW's...but why just the hood when you can do the whole car?
2) The car was "totaled" before it was even "rusted"...look at the smashed A-pillar on the drivers side.
At one time it looked like this, one of my favorite phases of it:
and it looked like this:
Then it looked like this:
Then this:
Then finished with the p51 paint scheme. I know I've missed several wheel changes in there. Mike should put a poster together with all the phases...or a calender lol!
the first 2 pics look really really great, 3rd gets a little euro-junkyard looking for me, 4th looks sad
I suppose i'm just an outsider looking in, i don't get or follow that stuff. *shrug* if the car has a 400k original motor and is such a great fast car... why let rust eat it?
Going back and reading what go-fast stuff the car had done to it i kinda cool though. and work/bbs/dub whatever-the-fuck the wheels are, look cool.

When I said unique I did have BMW's in mind. I know v dubs have been rocking the rust look for a while. BMW's are starting to pick it up. And it was DEFINITELY influential. This car was the inspiration behind stanceworks.com which is full of people with stanced cars, many of which I'm sure have been influenced by this e28. Now I'm sure you can argue your point all day. And I'm also sure all your nutswingers will back you up. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.![]()

I wasn't referring to BMWs or VWs as in "for a while." I was referring to old hot rods (rat rods and shit) doing this for a long time.
So it was ONLY influential in that the owner of the car started that site? How is that influential at all? And to who? I would say some cars may have been influenced, but I think that would be too much.
I can argue my point because I have a valid one, you know.
Damn and I thought you and I were cool. What's up with that? Later, QD.
About 350 individuals so far have said it was very influential to them. I'll leave these two links here.
