Like a lot of the Hyundai/Kia vehicles that are coming out, they look nice and all, I just won't drive one. The problem with posting an article from a car magazine is that they get to test it out whenever everything is working properly and it is somewhat comparable to other new cars, wait a few years whenever things start breaking, rattling, and it's value is so low that the Honda dealership will actually laugh at you whenever you try to trade it in on a more reliable car. When comparing it to a Civic like the Motor Trend article did, I'd never choose the Kia.

For those that don't want me to elaborate, I don't like it.

your basing your judgement on the past not the present. Whos to say the civic wont be falling apart? only time will tell, and in most cases you can tell a poorly made car in a few hours from driving it. And really after a good year or so. They do long term test..and alot of the testers are just as un easy about kia's as anyone else would be. remember the great fall low period of the honda accord.. from 97-02 with those horrible transmissions....who saw that coming? the most reliable car ever!! turned into a nightmare!

I personally don't give 2 shits about Hyundai or Kia. They are all junk in my eyes. i've taken shit tons of them apart at the body shop. Production methods are cheap and cheesy. I've known a lot of people who have current date ones like the hyundai Tiburon, which luckily had a big ass warranty b/c he had 3 engines put in it, or the brand new Hyundai Veracruz which my secretary has that won't start sometimes, aka the ignition switch is going out, also the TPS has already failed, and the Kia Sorento's that people I know have. Btw they hate them b/c they have had them for 3 years and all the bugs are showing up. Like all the little pieces of plastic that the coolant run through are rotting, like they crumble in your fingers rotting.

I think Kia/Hyundai are the Rota's of the modern day car world.

Not many people like imitation when the real thing can be had for pennies more, and in 3 years you will be thanking yourself for not getting a plastic shitwad hyundai/Kia.

I wonder if Ferrari Forums have threads about Kias?

    just wondering...

    p.s
just saw the commercial, looks nice - Must be easy for them to come up with styling. We know their recipe.

I like the Forte Koup. It looks good. Not much power but honestly the Korean car scene is slowly growing. There will be a little bit of aftermarket support for it.

The commercial sort of motivates me. But it only motivates me to go buy an Si, not a Kia Forte Koup. Nah mean?

edit: Okay I lies. It does make me in a small way inside want a Koup, but in the end I know I would never sign for it. I would go buy an Si intead. I've owned two Hondas. Can't screw up perfection.

Went shopping around for a new car for my mother in law the other day, and decided to swing by kia to check out the borrego, which actually has a lot of nice features for the price... especially after the $3k kia is taking off right now.

anyway, checked out the forte koup, seemed okay - a couple things i didnt like was the silver portion of the rims are plastic, the brake callipers are painted with a chrome silver paint, and i dont think the intake manifold should be plastic, but those are all things you could change. not to sure how it actually performs though

I'm basing my opinions of both Honda and Kia/Hyundai on the past, because that's the best determining factor over what a car will look like in the future. I'd love to not hold a grudge over them making one crappy car that my girlfriend owned in the past, a 2001 Kia Sephia, but most of those and most of the older Kias were pieces of junk. Who is to say that the cars they are rolling out aren't going to be any different? You can't just start charging more for your cars and start telling the buyers that you are a better company without proof. Kia has been here for about ten years, Honda proved steadily from day one that they were a reliable/well built car, they didn't just decide to start charging as much as their competitors after pushing out a decade of crap.
I do understand where you're coming from with not knowing how a car is until it's been on the market for a while though, and I think that's one of several factors in me buying used cars, I can't afford to get one of the duds.

I guess I need to stop thread jacking though. Again, I think it's a rather attractive car, along with the Genesis.

Borrego is a very good SUV...I've driven them before.....they continue to make better vehicles each generation

And lol, you can get a V-8 in a Kia Borrego with a 6 speed auto but you can't in an Acura. Go Kia!!
