Like a lot of the Hyundai/Kia vehicles that are coming out, they look nice and all, I just won't drive one. The problem with posting an article from a car magazine is that they get to test it out whenever everything is working properly and it is somewhat comparable to other new cars, wait a few years whenever things start breaking, rattling, and it's value is so low that the Honda dealership will actually laugh at you whenever you try to trade it in on a more reliable car. When comparing it to a Civic like the Motor Trend article did, I'd never choose the Kia.

For those that don't want me to elaborate, I don't like it.

your basing your judgement on the past not the present. Whos to say the civic wont be falling apart? only time will tell, and in most cases you can tell a poorly made car in a few hours from driving it. And really after a good year or so. They do long term test..and alot of the testers are just as un easy about kia's as anyone else would be. remember the great fall low period of the honda accord.. from 97-02 with those horrible transmissions....who saw that coming? the most reliable car ever!! turned into a nightmare!

I'm basing my opinions of both Honda and Kia/Hyundai on the past, because that's the best determining factor over what a car will look like in the future. I'd love to not hold a grudge over them making one crappy car that my girlfriend owned in the past, a 2001 Kia Sephia, but most of those and most of the older Kias were pieces of junk. Who is to say that the cars they are rolling out aren't going to be any different? You can't just start charging more for your cars and start telling the buyers that you are a better company without proof. Kia has been here for about ten years, Honda proved steadily from day one that they were a reliable/well built car, they didn't just decide to start charging as much as their competitors after pushing out a decade of crap.
I do understand where you're coming from with not knowing how a car is until it's been on the market for a while though, and I think that's one of several factors in me buying used cars, I can't afford to get one of the duds.

I guess I need to stop thread jacking though. Again, I think it's a rather attractive car, along with the Genesis.
