i know with a full out race car, the teams are gonna needs parts that are gonna have to go thru some extreme conditions, which, the reliability and perfomance of the parts, i'm sure can add up to be well over 15k, and like you said, even up to 50k+

but when i read the OP, i was thinking the person was trying to put parts like these onto your everyday car, which is not needed in any way, shape, or form of any sort. but more of mainly for some extremely high dollar, and outstanding perfomance machines, which are far from being made for the street.
The ironic part is you will rarely see a competitive S2000 on a track in the US, mainly because of the way they are classed.

The OP said, "but there is NO way you can justify FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for coilovers! Racing or not...." That's where he was incorrect. Granted that is a stretch for an S2k since they aren't a very competitive race car because of the classes they get put in here. Now a spec s2000 race would be an incredible event!!

it is very justifiable for 15k coilovers, but not for a street car.

i guess the OP didn't take into consideration what kind of money it takes to build a GT500 series or F1 race car.

i absolutely LOVE s2k's, one of my all time fave cars, i do whatever i could to go see a spec s2k race. but with the right setup and build of the car, it would be made into a very respectable race car, just not many people have done it.

All the races I've been to and all the TT's I've been in I haven't seen an S2k competitive past what could still be used as a street car. None of them need coilovers like these, there are a few JDM cars that would be able to use something like these but I haven't seen any running here in the states.
