I have a friend that is very interested in both these cars and I keep pushing the vette on him but I am just curious if you guys had to pick between these two cars which would it be![]()

I vote C6 because of two reasons.
1.) Since I know who you're talking about it would be awesome if both of us had one.
2.) I'm in the process of buying one
vette
I'm going with the Evo X. Both are good choices though.
Yeah both are great cars for different reasons![]()

The vette would be more fun.
Evo, just because it's the underdog. Also, as an every day driver, you can choose to paddle shift or run it like an automatic, makes it comfortable. Also, it is fast and has four doors with a back seat, it just makes a lot of sense. The Corvette is a great car that holds its resale value better than most anything else, it just isn't very practical.
Some say that his politics are terrifying, and that he once punched a horse to the ground...
The vette is nice, but the interior is kinda meh. If he's getting it as a DD he might be happier with the Evo in the long run. Then again he probably won't keep it for any length of time if he's debating this question and you're asking on IA like it may change his mind. He should probably keep whatever he has now.
Resale Value on Vettes is not nearly as high as people think it is, but if we're talking about resale value and that makes a difference to the guy, I even further stand by my opinion that he should keep whatever he has now.
if you want a practical car.. Evo,
if you want a fun car ALL the time.... vette.
If it is going to be his only car, go with the evo. If he has other modes of transportation, the I'd pick the vette
Vette...
Vette is like great passionate sex
EVO is like a quick Booty call
Both great cars..
But Vette all the
I may be a little Bias though... hmnm..
BTW..
Ive been Driving my Vette daily for 3 month now and really have no issues..
I actually parked my Solara and prolly drove it about 5 times in the last 3 month..
Vette is just to much fun to drive to keep it parked...

How is it that these are the only two cars that he has to choose? What about an M3 or NSX or an IS350 or the new WRX (which is a shade slower than the STI), it is interesting how these are the two cars that he is thinking about, a four door hooligan and a two door muscle car, interesting indeed.

You have to give us more information that "which is better?"
We cant tell you because they're both VERY different cars.
Is this a DD, mix, or track car? That is a very important question.
Purchase Cost
Insurance cost (dont guess - find out)
Driving Comfort
The way the car drives - engine characteristics
Build quality
Warranty
Passenger comfort (for the ladies)
Interior Noise
Mod availability and quality - if you're into mods
Resale
This is not a "Pick A or B" question.
I drive mine every day from winder to athens and have put 16k on it since i bought it early this year and still havent had a problem with it besides normal wear and tear (Belts, tires, bulbs, tires, brakes, tires etc..)Originally Posted by Julio

AMS's USCC winning EVO X on a Prototype 30R kit
Since we have won the Sport Compact Car - Ultimate Street Car Challenge, and it is now public knowledge, I thought I would post up the numbers that this beast was putting down for the duration of this grueling competition.
For more info on AMS's USCC win go Here
This Car had the following on it before it left for the challenge:
AMS EVO X Cold Air Intake
AMS Upper Intercooler Pipe
AMS Front Mount Intercooler
AMS Prototype O2 housing
AMS Manual Boost Controller
AMS Fuel Surge tank system
AMS Fuel Rail
AMS Exhaust System WITH 3" CATALYTIC CONVERTER
RC 780cc Injectors
The car ran flawlessly for the entire event at this same horsepower level the entire time, on the completely stock longblock! They dyno'd it on a Mustang dyno out there at the event too. Strangely, it put down 481whp...

TOO BIG
These are 2 totally different cars. Both make almost the same power to weight ratio.
Would you rather feel safe with the AWD system, large Brembo's all around and 4 doors for the lower insurance?
Or the RWD, 2 seater (that will prob get annoying) and not have the fun with the Turbo?
Both cars have lots of mod capability but I would get the EVO. it seems more fun, safer, and you dont see as many EVO's as you do Vettes.
-Ant.
Stock LS2: CAI + intake manif(?) + headers (stock mufflers)
Thats pretty impressive power on the EVO - I really want a subie or evo next.
for a DD though, look at the area below 4.5krpm.
That depends on the person. I'm not vette "fanboy". I'll jump ship the instant the numbers make sense to me! Also, I never give opinions that are not substantiated by facts.
Besides - if this person wants to buy a car based entirely on what we say - well that pretty much defines "FAIL".

evo x is a great car, but the trunk is ridiculously small.
then again, i didn't buy it for hauling stuff, there's enough space for the groceries- its just nice being able to scoot 4 people around when needed.
oh and my insurance went down by $75/month from switching from an evo ix to an evo x![]()
vette hands down
I vote Vette. Why? Because when I am with my wife and any of her friends and we are out somewhere, they always recognize corvettes. When they see an evo, an STI, or any other import, they call it a cereal box car... I don't know why...
Land Rover LR3 HSE
That's pretty tough. Obviously the cars are very different from each other, so it would all depend on his needs. I would probably go with the Vette personally, I drive a first gen mr2 so practicality really isn't an issue for me. If I was buying a DD and had a fun car, possibly the Evo. If the cars were more similar it would make for a better debate, but since we have no idea what this guy wants or needs out of the car it's not like I can help decide for him.
Vette - LS2 (a solid engine), proven chassis (C6 Z51 Vettes = C5 Z06), proven manual (Tremec T5050) or automatic (6L80E), a huge trunk (3 full sized golf bags or two bodies), stiff as hell structure, body panels are composite fiberglass (no dings and easy to swap cause all are screwed in), and obviously a Corvette (it's purpose built).
Keep in mind that mods for Vettes are crazy expensive. A Corsa system is $1200...yikes.
My wife said she'd buy me one...one day. LOL!

I take back the manual and auto statement...05-06 vettes came with the T56 from Tremec, an also proven manual (they're in Vipers, to Camaros, to TVRs), the 4L60E is a auto from yesteryear...though very reliable, they are ancient...so go manual only, though hard to find in the Atlanta market. The 4L60E can be traced back the the TR400 of the 80s.
Lastly...the Evo, even though it's a stout car and awesome performer...it's still has the bones of an econo...tall, narrow, like it's on its toes.
Umm you do know that the Evo is actualy quite a bit wider than a Lancer right?Originally Posted by Christopherr

evo x. I like having 4 doors and having turbo kick in.
i voted vette because they hold their value over time better than any other car as long as they are taken care of. i have a 93 vette that was recently appraised at 26k
Oh absolutely. Nothing that wider fenders and wheels can't accomplish...still the same chassis.Originally Posted by redGT
