    Default So Im at a crossroads and would like some advice...

    At this point with my car Im having to make two big steps.


    1. Purchase wheels/tires: Running a 305 tire in the rear and 275 in the front. This wont be cheap at all, but its what I want.

    2. Purchase a Kenne Bell setup (or Whipple) for the car and run a safe boost. Only looking for low 500WHP / high 400WHP.

    The wheels and tires will end up costing me 2 G's, and the SC setup around 5G's. In total 7Gs together.

    Question is, a lot of people were telling me to go with the juice along with a cam and full exhaust. Itll save me a helluva lot of money in the end and give me the power when I want and only when I want. For daily driving my current 305/310RWHP is fine....

    Ive been an avid nitrous user for a long time with never any issues so, this whole " itll blow your motor" concept is stupid and ricey. Either way, I wanted some thoughts....

    if it was me,id mod it to run all motor......header back exhaust,cam,heads,intakeand maybe little 75 shot for when u need it,and burn custom chip,

    but i mean,the S/C works,everyone seems to be turboing and S/C new mustangs

    Obviously you have the $$ for the cam and full exhaust, go for it. Juice the mofo! If the current power level is fine, keep it simple. If you want more to turn some heads, go Kenne.

    And when you say "having", are you forced to make the steps, or is the mod bug bitting your ass really hard?

    What PSI would you consider running the KB if you went with that option?

    Yeah, I dont really use the power I have now going back and forth to work 10 miles, and when I do, Im practically endangering myself and others

    Oh, Im not forced to mod my car, but realistically the next mod I get will be a large one. Im not wasting any cash on dumb ****.

    Yep that would be the plan, I actually dont have to use a chip since I have a XCAL tuner that can reflash when needed. So I can use a nitrous map whenever and a regular 93 oct map when driving around.

The brake kit Id want is around another 2Gs. So in the mean time I would say all of this would be for a fun as hell weekend car to tool around in, since the Cougar is soon becoming my daily driver.

    I think most guys are running a 2.3 @ 8.5 lbs and getting around high 4s and low 5s. I wouldnt get the 2.8 though. I ran nitrous for two years with no issues, it was tuned however, and never once had low compression on any cylinders. The only thing that did suck was the 35 dollar per bottle fill every month heh or worse every two weeks.

    youve probably been asked it before but have you considered a turbo setup? might be cheaper if price is a concern.

    after having a supercharged car, I would have to vote for a twin screw setup. You wont be disappointed.

    get the tires I have.. trust me.. Im actually ordering a spare set this week. 295/30/19 in the rear with 255/35/19 in the front..

    to be honest you probably do not need a brake kit, try it with a good set of pads then go from there.

    i would go with the NNNAAAWWWWWSSSS lol, reason being is that you can have the power when you want (aka use it at the strip), its cheaper, and 300whp is more than enough to have fun with at track days.

    Im running Hawk HPs right now and love em. Noisy until warm, but overall really nice and responsive when hot or cold.

    Heh, my stock wheels will only support a 255, and honestly with that extra power, ill be spinning all day.

    I'd say turbo. Turbo stang=awesomeness. Gotta love the sound of a turbo'd v8. But a twin screw definitely won't let you down, and neither will a sprayed all motor set-up. You my friend have a tough decision on the horizon.

    Coming from someone who has owned a Kenne Bell Mustang, it has been the most fun car I've ever owned.

    Do not buy cams for your motor, you're waisting your money. They just don't respond that well as opposed to other modifications you can do.

    I would recommend the regular 10psi or whatever psi KB kit for your motor. You can make an even reliable 500rwhp with it with a safe tune, maybe a little less conservatively.

    You'll need Drag Radials with 500rwhp. I used the Nitto 555Dr's for daily usage.

    food for thought... and may not have any bearing on your situation.

    i used to run a 100 shot with bolt ons.. then i finally got all my parts together to go turbo. after spending many thousands.. and then going to the track, i wasn't any faster than when i had the bolts on with nitrous. not to say i couldn't make more power and be faster, but that first turbo setup wasn't worth it imo. i could have easily built my motor and ran nitrous and been a happy ass mofo.


    now im in so deep... theres no turning back. im sure some of you know what i mean. after spending soooo much and it not being right, how can i stop spending money until its right?

    TRUE STORY!

    as a wheel whore i'd say that you can always get wheels later. mustangs generally all look the same to me (not saying its a bad thing i just never check them out much not too much of a fan)

    having said that! the ones i do pay attn to are the ones with the 5 year old kid under the hood WHINING! KB georgie plain and simple! traction might be an issue but honestly man, you can get those later since you don't really have a "long" commute to work and what not, why not get something you can enjoy all the time. i've never been a N20 fan BUT when it comes to spraying or Boosting... i'd run boost all day over N20. so i'm voting boost

    Nothing scarier that pulling up to a light, looking over, and hearing a supercharger on a 05+ GT.
    Wheels aren't intimidating.

    I'd offer more of my worthless opinion, but I don't know much about the new stangs. I do know a guy in town is running high 12's with just a couple things done and slicks.

    1.) ET Streets, even the radials, should not *ever* be driven in the rain... not sure if you DD your Mustang, but its something to consider.

    2.) If you want an economical tire setup, wrap your stock wheels with the tallest ET street you can get.

    3.) If you want an economical and performance-minded wheel setup, get a set of Weld's in the smallest diameter you can and a set of the tallest ET streets you can.

    4.) Turbo > SC in every area possible except for initial costs.

    5.) Once you go FI and spend the initial costs for that low 500whp, what's to stop you for the extra few lbs of boost here and there for that 600whp - 700whp+?

    6.) Don't buy wheels if you really are intending to buy big brakes later... you'll hate yourself when you realize your wheels don't fit anymore afterwards.

    7.) Seeing a meaty tall set of tires is far more menacing than any sound any street car spits out.

    S/C hands down. Car looks good as it sits. Besides you dont need wheels to hook.
