hypothetically speaking, your driving down an empty highway, in an 03 evo, and you zip passed a cop at 140mph.
What do you do?

My car is factory....
Every single performance part and or modification it has was made in a factory somewhere.
keep fukin goin! by the time he even gets remotely close to catch you , you are a few exits down gettin off the hwy and chillin somewhere grabbin a bite to eat ,lol
i saw the youtube video, he stops and gets a ticket for doing like 90 or something like that and gets to drive home
might i also add that this evo just left the dragstrip
Back in the 70's, my dad did the same thing but in a real car, a 6-cylinder 914, and he jumped off at the next exit and hid for 30 minutes or so, then continued along.
i saw same one.Originally Posted by redrumracer

its really a judgment call. depends on the driver skill/awareness and ability to know how to make a good decision at the right moment. i've passed a cop going around that speed and i've taken off before... and got away.. another time, i was doing a little over a hundred, took my chances again and took off but got caught up into some traffic. instead of being a reckless careless ***** and overtaking on the shoulder, i opted to slow down and be safe.. at which time the cop finally caught up a minute or 2 later... and inevitably gave me a ticket. better to be safe than sorry.
all in all.. its all depends on the situation, the driver, and his ability to make the right decisions and be able to carry it out.
Agreeing with the above, also consider if it is day or night. If a cop is coming opposite direction as you, or sitting still radaring. If its night, and you pass him at 140, theres almost no way he knows what make/model you are in. He just knows that someone just passed him going balls fast. So, if he deciedes to chase you, and you're doing a mile in 25 seconds, then he has to go at least 160, and by my rough math, it'll take him 6 minutes to close a mile gap between you. Thats a long time. No to mention he won't be able to see your tailights by then. And thats assuming his car will go that fast and he has the balls to do it. (Cops are still people with families to go home to) I would either pull to the next exit, or if i passed a car, slow down and pace him. The cop probably won't know which of you was the one he radared. If he does guess right, then he deserves the 10 million dollars you're about to give the county. Give him congrats on a nice catch and enjoy your night in jail getting butt raped. But 140= stupid if not on a track somewhere. Plus with the drag created by sustaining 140 mph, you're probably going to run out of gas in the next 5 seconds.![]()
Depends on where you are at. Ive had a friend run from them coming home from AL on 20, he was screwed to begin with there is no where to hide.
Ive ran from a fe Ga police on my bike, but i was in ATL plenty of places to hide at, so just depends on surroundings!!!
on another note, there's a pretty good chance that most cop cars won't even do 140. A stock police interceptor crown vic tops out around 130. Considering the way most cops treat their cars, chances are that many of them won't do over 120. One of my friend's dad owns an oil change shop and changes the oil in all teh cop cars in our area. Even though all they have to do is bring the car in (on the clock I might add), most of them are 10-15k miles over each time. The engines tick and make noise, all the belts squeak...
Even the GSP charger would have a problem catching up to you if you pass them at 140.

I was talking to a guy at a meet once who blew past a cop on ronald reagan going about 125 in broad daylight. He pulled off two exits later and chilled at his friend's house until dark and then drove home.
So I would keep going.
"I get worried when it STOPS leaking."
^ If the PI Crown Vics only do 130, how come their speedometers are accurate to 140?
lol sh!t. I am on Ronald Regan right now. I work off of it and drive it daily.Originally Posted by itsnotarex

Maybe incase they are drafting the car they are chasing while driving downhill... A 99-04 mustang GT will barely do 140, and it has the engine the PI crown vic has. The crown vic is heavier and less aerodynamic I'm sure.Originally Posted by V_Eight
I searched a few vids on youtube of PI crown vics. There is one 2003 model trying to top out. After 120 it accelerates about like a civic. It took like 20 seconds to get from 125 to 130, which is where it sat. The person who posted the vid claimed that this was not the top speed. He's probably right... another 10 minutes or so and it may have got 135.

positive, my brother has one.

at 140 you can hold the pedal to the floor as long as you want, but it will take you atleast a mile to gain each additional mph. I would consider that to be topped out...

And i've had five, all modified. I know what these things are capable of.Originally Posted by allmotoronly
With 3.27's, it WILL exceed 140 and 150 easily. They top at 155ish from the factory.
who the **** said anything about modified. We're talking stock. Hell the NEW gt will only do around 155Originally Posted by V_Eight

My point is that you say all your's were modified. My brother in law has a modified cobra, and it will do 160. There's no way a stock GT will do anyhting close to that.Originally Posted by V_Eight

My brother's GT is completely stock, 2003 model. When he first got it (it had 15k miles on it), I drove it down I-75 south of forsyth. It is relatively flat through there. Getting to 125 or so was pretty quick. After that, it took a very long time to gain speed. At 140mph it was gaining 1mph every mile or so. Maybe if I would have stayed in it for another 10 minutes it may have gotten to 150, but I doubt it.

Who buys a Mustang and keeps it stock?Originally Posted by allmotoronly

Since he got it he's added a few things, (intake, headers, xpipe, exhaust, programmer, ring and pinion kit, and a few other things) and now it will run 165-170 completely topped out. I used to work at a car lot. The owner's son and I were good friends, and he had a thing for mustangs. He must have had 10 or more mustangs through highschool and early college before he outgrew cars. I have driven pretty much every mustang model worth driving, and the only one that could possibly do over 155 mechanically stock is a chipped 03-04 cobra with the speed limiter removed.

i went by one at 120, and i didnt stop....not that i could have anyway.. but i got off at the next exit, and was just happy that i didnt kill myself.
id hope a mustang GT would do 140 since my 3rd gen will do almost 140 with limiter taken off
remember you have a chevy and it is in every way superior to a ford.Originally Posted by HypnoToad

does it have a 350? The last of the 3rd gens with 350's had 245hp and 345 torque. 15 less hp than a 99-04 Mustang GT, but 45 more torque. The 99 GT weighs around 3700lbs with an automatic (3650 manual), where as the 3rd gen camaro Z28 weighs in around 3195lbs for the coupe. All in all, if you remove all the smog equipment from the 3rd gen F bodies, they will run with a 99-04 GT all day.Originally Posted by HypnoToad

I would say that ford does more cost cutting on the interiors. The interior's of the mustang was the same from 1994-2004, with minor changes in the seat patterns throughout the years. The interior is just as cheap and plasticy as and chevy.Originally Posted by V_Eight

Another thing that made me start to stay away from american brands is that american made cars have a relatively low power output to engine displacement ratio thancompared to most european and japanese brands. A mustang GT makes 300hp from 4.6L, where a G37 makes 330hp from 3.7L. A cobalt makes 145hp from a 2.2L, where as a Civic Si makes 200hp from a 2.0L. I mean yes there are a few exceptions, but most use forced induction to break the 100hp/liter mark (new ZR1, Cadillac STS-V, and Ford GT for example)

ok lets look at those 2, the base cobalt makes 145 yes, but the base civic has only 140 hp. ok now lets take the cobalt ss supercharged it makes 205 hp where as the civic si makes 197 so we will say 200 hp. if your going to compare cars compare apples to apples and dont apples to oranges.Originally Posted by allmotoronly
EDIT: also take a look at where in the power band those 2 cars make there power.
Vics are slow only problem is the GSP has srt8 not all of them but my friend has a 07 gsxr1000.He took off on GSP the charger was keeping up with him not on his tail but in seeing distance. My friend ran from Dekalb one night after coming from up north. Some ls hatch kept trying to race so he took off came by cops doing like 120.He kept going but then another car came off the next exit by then he was doing 145 .He said he could have got away but missed the exit to 75S so he just pulled over.As long as you know where you are and theres not much traffic I say hall a$$.But you cant outrun radiosOriginally Posted by allmotoronly
