Another thing that made me start to stay away from american brands is that american made cars have a relatively low power output to engine displacement ratio thancompared to most european and japanese brands. A mustang GT makes 300hp from 4.6L, where a G37 makes 330hp from 3.7L. A cobalt makes 145hp from a 2.2L, where as a Civic Si makes 200hp from a 2.0L. I mean yes there are a few exceptions, but most use forced induction to break the 100hp/liter mark (new ZR1, Cadillac STS-V, and Ford GT for example)

ok lets look at those 2, the base cobalt makes 145 yes, but the base civic has only 140 hp. ok now lets take the cobalt ss supercharged it makes 205 hp where as the civic si makes 197 so we will say 200 hp. if your going to compare cars compare apples to apples and dont apples to oranges.

EDIT: also take a look at where in the power band those 2 cars make there power.

Are you agreeing with me or what? Yes the base cobalt makes 145hp out of 2.2L, and the non Si civic makes 140 out of a 1.8L, which is 20% less displacement than the cobalt with only about 3.5% less power. The SS is supercharged, which goes along with what I was saying about domestics needing forced induction to approach the 100hp/liter mark.
