Why do CRX owners call their cars Rexs?

Alright, so I get why WRXs are called Rex's because the name obviously sounds like it if you try to pronounce it (and some brits actually even call them Werxs), but CRXs? I'd have to call those Cricks or Cracks, not Rex.

To the CRX owners on here, why do you call your car a Rex?

the same reason subie guys do it, when your pronounce CRX, You get seearrexx. and WRX, doubleyourrexx. same thing, and the CRX guys have done it longer than WRX guys have anyways. I dont own either one, but I remember CRX's getting called rex's in the mid-late 90's.....

Interesting, I'm sure subaru guys were call the older RXs rexs at the same time CRXs were selling brand new in dealerships, and mid-late 90s had WRXs all around the world being called such.

But like in the other thread, I hate getting on here and seeing a pic thread with a title like "check out my new rex" and then seeing some beat up POS honda with a D-series in it.

D series Honda motor can be built easily and be quick, my A6 in my CRX WALKED 5.0 Mustangs with mods, stock B series swapped Hondas, and a lot more all day.

aww, its the bugeye wrx owner mad because he thinks only his car should be called a rex.... dear god man, grow a set. WRX's didnt come here until 02, so before that RX-7's and CRX's had claim to the term, I'm a GC Subie guy myself, I hate seeing ads that say check out my OG impreza, and its a bugeye, the ugliest impreza in all creation, but you dont see me ranting about it..... jeez.

He was refering to sounding the WORD out. not the letters. Read wrx like a vanity plate, it'll sound like "Wrecks." Now do the same for CRX... doesn't work. I understand that Honda guys have been calling it Rex since the 90's but So have Subaru guys in Japan and Australia.

I've called Rx-7's "Rex's" too but no a Crx.
