Ok i just recently bought a b16a with Built Head. stage 2 comp cams, and all valvetrain done. Hytec rep header.
\How much more HP do you think the fully built head adds? thanks.

im not sure but i know you can get alot of power from a built headOriginally Posted by Black4DrEK
yea i hope. umm... anymore,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,??
maybe 10hp.. plus.. minus.. what kind of power you're looking for?
i atleast want to hang wit my boyz CTR.. probly 180-190 or sooo... i want to add CTR pistons as well
1.6L don't really make that much power unless you put a crap load $$$ into it which i see it's pointless but everyone have their own taste..it's hard to get 180-190 on a b16 but goodluck...

Sorry homie, but that's the truth. If you are building a motor for n/a, the worst motor (besides a d-series) is a b16. Fully built you "may" touch 180-190hp, but you're have about 115lbs of torque. If you were to put the same effort (if not less) into a 1.8 (or up), you would yield alot greater results.

You will better off getting a 1.8L or 2.0L block and using your head.![]()
don't get mad but i've told you..lol..jk.....

i know alot of b16 that make that + ..... but yea thankx,,, ANYONE POST UP your B16 HP.....!!!!
Lol yea its pretty expensive making that ,but what car is it going in? b16 work wonders trust me I kno. With the right stuff you can make that but its gone run you my friend has a stock b16 in a hatch. He eats type rs,and gsr,its weird that b16s and ls are under estimated
hey a fully built b20vtec only broke 200+ and thats with skunk2 pro3 cams so dont expext that much from a b16

Are you using a good header? What size exhaust are you running? Is you're motor high compression? Are you tuned? Those cams might not be the best for your setup, if you're not high compression.
Well thats not that low considering that most people who do built motors locally never even come close to 200whp , its a motor thats slapped together, cams are degreed, etc.Originally Posted by bigdare23

Well it may not happen much, but my dads buddy has a civic hatch with a b16a n/a... running right at 205whp on the dyno with 110oct gas
"Damn, Its Tyler"RaceReadyDevelopments
Since your pops needs 110oct, I'm guessing he's over 12.1 c/r. If so, that car isn't a DD.Originally Posted by prelude4life

Yeah, its not a DD.... but every once in a while, my dads buddy will take it out on the streets.

Stock, more like 130-140 WHP buddy.Originally Posted by -SkInNy-
Anywho back on subject, with that 'built head' and Hytech header you might make like 150-160 WHP.
B.S.- no "stock" b16 in a hatch(even gutted out) can pull a stock type-r
the only way the hatch would pull would be from a dig and it'll be in front for just a second or two cuz of the weight difference.
Someone lied to you my friend ran a type r .From a roll when ppl used to chill at Full throttle he walked on the type-r.The dude was mad as hell then he was like what ya got popped the hood and he saw a stock ass b16.Originally Posted by pxhoang0408
So what are you talking about
why not?:Originally Posted by pxhoang0408
ITRs are mid 14 second cars!~ Just cause its a ITR doesnt means its god gift to VTEC.
stop benchracing, its easily possible for any swapped hatch to beat an ITR, even a b16.

^^^ its so funny seeing ppl talk about their stories and they own all. there could have been something wrong with the type r, ****ty driver, etc etc. there are soooo many variables. just because you saw a type r lose to a b16 one time, doesnt mean if you have a b16 hatch, it will beat a type r. if you look at the numbers and math involved, typically a stock itr will make 175whp + -. a b16 makes 140whp + -. take into account the weight difference of say 300lbs or so and you still have the type r winning. so mathematicaly, the type r would win. like i said, there are a lot of variables that come into play when comparing two cars.
to the OP, i would buy a gsr shortblock and use your head on it, that will yield much better results. then boost it![]()

you are probably lookin at 155-165.I like tha b16.. im on my second one.they are deff. underestimated. Although they are quite torqueless.
97ek hatch
nah no one lied to me, i've had seat time with many type-r's, and if that was tru that the "stock" b16 hatch walked on a type-r, he had to have some internal work or prob just spray. So what are you talking about
No spray it was a rebuilt b16.Type-R had test pipe and cams I dont know what Type-Rs run in the quarter. But alot of people say they arent that fast. From the ones I have seenOriginally Posted by pxhoang0408
waste of money unless you just love tegs.I would just get a gsr and drop that money in it.
Im just sayin b16s have more potential then ppl assume.
so now the b16 was rebuilt, and the type-r had cams, testpipes, i love how storys change down the line. look bro b16's do have potential but pretty much all the b-series have potential, it's just that some ppl like to be different and i am just advising that you'd be spending too much money on a 1.6 to get power "There is no replacement for displacement"
----->>oh to the OP just put the head on whatever u want, LS, b16, GSR, if your going all-motor u might want to use some higher comp. pistons, valves, etc. to make that stage 2 cam get to work.
