    Default ZC bottom end and d16z6 head???

    First of all... I know VERY LITTLE about singlw cams. All my knowledge deals with DOHC motors.

    I am helping my friend put in his motor, and I was wondering if there are any little modifications I have to do for the d16z6 head to fit on the zc block???

    Bollocks! No help!

    Which head gasket should I get???

    Will the head go on without any drilling???

    Will all the mounts fit???

    I want to make sure this kids motor doesn't blow up...

    We got the head off of the z6, and we took out the oil plug in the ZC, now all I really need to know is which head studs should I use???

    Besides that, everything is going pretty smoothly...

    torque specs will be the same as a full Z6 with a lil higher cp than 9:6:1 .. with a mls headgasket u should hit maybe 10:1

    If you talking a SOHC ZC Block then its the same as a D16Z6... The SOHC ZC is a Jap version of the Z6, Just bolt the Head on it without changing anything... Use all the TQ Spec And Parts from a D16Z6... ..
    Just so you know The Compression will go up a Little but thats the only change you will see..

    Edit: Be sure to put the damn Oil Plug back in that block.. . The ZC block was Vtec so there is no need in pulling it...

    uhhh... this is the non-vtec sohc zc, so the oil plug in the block was pulled.

    Well, we torqued everything down, and put the engine and tranny back in the car and wired it up. Now the problem.................

    When I try and start the car, it turns over, but never starts. I think it might have to do with the spark or something because the car makes the same noise no matter if the spark plugs are in or out!

    If anyone can give me some advice or help, it would be greatly appreciated.

    pull the plug or no vtec ..... a z6 block has it removed and a ZC block is not vtec in anyway . ! by the way use a Z6 MLS headgasket ...... any more help let me know

    thats not the problem... the zc block was non-vtec. We pulled the plug. thats done. Heads torqued down and everything.

    What I need to know is why it wont fire up. It's getting gas, no oil leaks, gets a spark, but a weak one. The battery is fine... If someone is in gwinnett or ANYWHERE AROUND IT, I would love for them to stop by and help a brotha out!!!

    Ok, Let get something Clear.... 88-91 ZC Blocks where non Vtec. They made a SOHC and a DOHC.... 92-95 ZC Blocks Where VTEC... Go do your homework People...


    On your Problem... Be completely sure you are useing the z6 timing marks on the cam gear.. the Lines on the cam gear need to be level with the Head.. Use a Stright edge if need be... If your timing is right then you have a Weak Coil.. If you have another Dizzy than try it... If its got Fuel and spark it will run unless your timming is off... So try those things..

    i have a full running z6 dizzy with wires for 100 .... if it aint get a hot enuf spark its the igniter or coil .... and do u know the ecu was working b4 swap ?????

    and .. zc came in sohc an dohc ... but where is the solenoid on the DOHC zc ... there aint one cuz the head aint vtec and has a plug for it in the block .so wut makes a zc vtec??? a z6 head .. vtec block or not .. only difference is oil squirters .. whooopee ??? now do your homework my man ......

    i would say your timing is off,and yes there is a sohc zc vtec.

    i'm not really sure about the SOHC ZC's because sohc is just unless it's turbo'd lol j/k.

    but ik there's not dohc ZC vtec.

    Ok....From 88-91 they made a SOHC ZC Non Vtec...
    THEY ALSO MADE A DOHC ZC "NON VTEC" from 88-91... I never said they made a Fucking DOHC ZC VTEC.... ..

    From 92-95 the ZC was a SOHC VTEC Motor...

    Go look the shit up....

    Okay... we have checked everything, and I'm am positive it's the timing... shouldhave cheched that first, but this is what happens when your in a rush.

    Is there a write-up on how to set it, or can someone help me out on this one???

    take the timing belt off .... look at the back of the timing belt cover ( upper ). u should see arrows align them up with the cam gear ( UP ) u'll see that on the camgear itself . head is in time ...... now the block .... u should see 3 little divots on the top of the crank pulley .... allign with the center line to the arrow located on the OIL PUMP ,...... put timing belt on without moving either the camgear or the crank pulley .... set tensioner after the timing belt is on and push it up till its tight .. . put the lower timing bel cover back on screw it down ... put crank pulley back on and torque it down and put your alternator belt back on and A/C ..P/S where available .... good luck hope i could help . !

    Dude yo were a great help. I lined everything up, and with a little distributor manipulation, it started up. NOW... there is still one problem.

    When I built the motor I used the ZC belt, and it is too long. When the motor starts, the belt flops so much that I'm affraid to let my boy drive it, on a count that it might snap.

    Should I use the d16z6 belt??? We have one from his hydrolocked z6 block, so I was thinking of just throwing that one on. But her inlys the delima...........

    When I take the crank off so that I can get the belt off, how do I know where to put it back on so that the timing will be back where it needs to be??? Do you see what I'm trying to ask??? When we take off the crank, do I have to mark where the lines are and just put it back exactly, or will there be and iandicator or something???

    use a z6 timing belt ....... !!!!!!! either that or bend valves ... and redo the steps i gave u back up there too ensure proper timing an safety from engine dying and you having to sink more money to fix it ...... please take your time and take it all apart and redo the thing with the proper belt !!!! at least you know now it worksa .. now sinks some more time and happy motoring .,

    oh and the marking on the crank is just to show when its at top dead center so even if you don't like the crank pully again just set your motor to top dead center and time it from there and you should be good!

    JDM PM7 pistons
    shot pinged stock rods
    OEM head gasket
    ARP head and rod bolts
    ACL race bearings
    12:1 compression ratio...

    If I could remember...it was somewhere between $120 to $150...price might have change after a couple of years...
