I wouldnt say the ls1 is weak, only when in its in an overweight turd (gto, f body, ws6 etc) they roll out pretty well for a stock engine in the c5 vettes. But i do agree it would be a stout ass ls1 to get a full interior f body into the 10s...i forsee a stroke and bore and a massive cam if those are his goals plus the slicks and spray lol

Get a 351W, TW top end, pop a T-trim on it, feed it a lot of E-85, and put it on a foxbody - easy and cheap. Can run single digits.
You do know a WS6 is an F-body, right? It's a performance package for a Firebird. Same car, different intake, exhaust, and suspension (of course some apparence stuff).
My T/A with only exhaust was reeling in a C5 hard as hell at Twiggs. He got the hit from a dig and I spun 1st and 2nd, even let out because it was getting so squirrely, then had him reeled in by the 1/8th.

He has a lot of money in that setup - lots of porting on the heads (labor) and a custom grind cam. Then he has 28" slicks with 4.56 rear gear means that you will either have to run some huge wheels and tires on the street, or will have to cruise at 60mph on the interstate - not fun to drive daily if you get on the interstate.
He has QTP headers, and Stealth/BMR suspension - get ready to spend some money.
507hp 433Tq = 10.3 sec for him in the 1/4, and he had to switch over to a faceplated T-56 tranny. You will run 12's with that setup. You could have done the same with the GTO.
In the end, you will still get drug by a full weight, full interior, stock Mustang with a little blower on it. Or this will be car #5 that you back down with (that's more likely).

Honestly, you are going to need a turbo (or spray), and a set of good heads, if you are going with an LS1 in an F-body. All motor is not the way to go, it will cost you too much per cubic inch. If I was going all motor, it would be a BBC over a SBC. SBC, you need a power adder.
Do a turbo LS1 with a TH400, and that will be streetable with some good power.
But your racecar will still get drug by my daily driver.

Too much money for that kit. You can have a shop custom fab you a kit for that money. just go with a single, and keep the cost down.

I'm thinking that maybe I should pick up a 500 car, and just do the cheap junkyard mods on it. Those tend to be the most fun because you don't worry about trashing them.
