i didnt even think about slip but you need a new belt the stock one wont work unless you get 3 more idlers.

with 1 100mm idler you need one of these sizes
    2.76...............74.5"..................K080745. ...............4080745 (with 100mm Idler)

with 4 idlers you need these sizes or a stock belt
    2.76..............75.1".................K080751... ............4080750 (with 100mm Idler) (Stock Belt)

its over a half inch difference which isnt a ton but at 6k rpms it would make a difference

im just say it says strait off the billet flow website, that you need a different belt, my friend is using a stock belt but he has 4 idlers. i really think it may fix your problem, the recommended belt is over half an inch smaller for a reason (more belt wrap), plus a new belt is like 40 bucks and they grip better

I still don't know why the car would fall on it's face like a down shift if the belt was slipping...

it does sound like you're loosing boost....i've never owned a supercharged car, but the belt slipping theory makes sense to me. closest thing to that i've seen on a turbo car is the snorkel that connects the air filter to the turbo's compressor implodes/sucks itself together therefore the turbo can't suck in any more air and the car falls on it's face. if the engine quits all together then it's prolly got too much timing and it's detonating...i'm not a domestic guru however, gl man

Its not common on the 03-04 for the intake to suck its self closed, Now on the New 05-up Saleen cars it is, and its the same effect...

ditto.... sounds too me like belt slip... you need to check your tensioner aswell.....

i bought the belt from someone off svtperformance.com they all basically told me i need it to avoid belt slip unless i get the four piece idlers which adds like 22mm worth of idlers and would be equal to stock belt wrap.

i know the stock idlers are like 90mm and aftermarket are 3-100mm 1-92mm

I always have brand new belts and I also have custom gripper plate and '01 timing cover so that I can use the steel 3-bolt tensioner and I still have belt slip issues once that belt gets a few miles on it...

with a load on the engine it makes a difference. My car will not slip on the dyno but when the tensioner goes to bouncing around mad, then it will slip...

if it feels really tight i dont know what could be wrong, im sure tim will be able to tell you though, you could maybe go get a belt at autozonethen return it saying its the wrong size, not sure about their return policy though

"Tim" isn't god. The other 3 idlers are notorious for exploding, and kicking the belt off. That is why you get all 4.

Because it goes from 10+ lbs of boost, to nearly ZERO. You might as well be hitting the brakes. And the gas thing.....that was just simply the dumbest thing that I have ever heard! If he is feeding you full of all of that shit, you need to find someone else to work on your car!

I posted a vid of it idling.. The tensioner is fine.. Modular will check for free.. They usually stand by thier work.. That is if it's the tune...

And Christophe... It's gunna be funny when something goes on your car the way you drive it... Like a belt, is it like $500

    My fixes are cheap... usually

Well I have heard people talk about how they don't let their car get below 1/4 of a tank and I thought the same thing until Tim said somethign about it... I was just thinking the RPMs would go up but I guess your right about going from 13 or so to almost nothing... Tims a good guy and is the best tuner in the state from what I've heard..

I guess it is belt slip..

Thats funny because I had a Diablo programmer put a better tune on a car than the one he did. Spend your money however you wish! good luck!

well numbers are numbers but the tune he gave me was solid.. my numbers were low because of the heat and humidity...

    Hopefully it's just slip

Someone on another site said they had the exact same thing happening to them. They said it was their Fuel Rail Pressure sensor (FRPS).. I don't know how expensive that fix is though. Can't be to bad if it is justa sensor..

03 cobra's can only take 23* of timing max, so they will only make x amount of power period. There is no trick to making power with them, there is however a point at which they will pop if the timing isn't retarded enough based on inlet temps.

    Justin,
Its a fuel spike or a TQ spark retard. Either is an easy fix so don't sweat it.
My guess is its a tune issuse that needs to be tuned out or its a bad FRPS.

We can tell if its belt slip on the dyno,if it is then get the idlers, but lets make sure its not something else first.

I tuned your car? What is your name?
03-04 cobra's can only take so much spark to make power safely. You will only gain minimum power with these after 21*. From 21-23* is only about 5-8rwhp.

Mike Johnson tunes aren't bad, if you like to make alot of power, and money for a rebuild.
