still i wouldnt rev a 2.4l with a 99mm stroke much past 8000 or youre going to be rebuilding the motor quite often. Unless you dry sump it. (unless they have fixed something with the K motors and their oiling problems).

Its called using a a2 pump or moddified s2000 pump and 99+mm strokes can go 9-10000 all day! depending which pump u use:)


And its pretty evident based on your graph that you arent going to make much power past 8000 no matter what you do. you make peak power around 7500-7600 (unless my eyes are bad). Extending that power PAST 8000 is going to be hard and if you do it prob wont be significant. I bet youll end up making MORE POWER but prob around the same RPM. May peak around 8000 but even then , its not your whp thats dropping off a cliff its your TQ. It falls almost 50 ftlbs from 7000-8500. Your hp kinda plateaus meaning either you are holding it back (restriction somewhere) or thats all its gonna make.

I think you would be better served shifting earlier and getting a 5.0+ final drive. But you wanna run nitrous too so you dont wanna have it too short geared.

more power on the existing gearing wont necessarily make it much faster.

I always HEARD the oiling problems were never solved even with the A2 or S2000 pumps. It wasnt a pressure problem it was a lubrication problem. But i think that was more on the road race engines than the drag or street car stuff. Road race is much more harsh.

I dunno i would just be weary of 9000-10000 rpm 99mm strokes, thats a lot of piston speed and stress lol

Most racers do log at the track and make changes at the track. For the street car though, a good dyno tune is efficient enough, and changes are generally not required. Remember, the stock ECU works fine with a wide selection of engines - there is always a window where the engine likes to operate at.

problem with street tuning is its really hard to do a 4th gear pull to 140mph on the street safely, and you cant drive and tune at the same time. you can log and then make changes. Its best to have someone else drive it, while you tune it, etc. Plus its not a controlled environment.

Track is always good but even then , how do you get to the point of running your car all out, you have to have a workable tune first, and "trying it out" by running a track run is dangerous.

its usually best to go "tune it" on a dyno, then make tweaks at the track with data logging. but not everyone can invest in a personal tuner, or have the equipment to tune a car themselves.

lol thats how i feel about engine building. I was always like god damn thats a lot of work just to fuck up and ruin something.

But if you can build an engine, if you know how an engine works, then tuning is just something you gotta jump into but knowing how and why always helps.

Like i said the EFI 101 class is a great place to start, it teaches you a ton of info and really make you understand what dyno time is really all about. I honestly thought i KNEW more in 2 days than a lot of so called tuners know.

Anyone can turn sit behind a computer and hit numbers till the a/f "looks right". but understanding WHY a car makes power a certain way, and how to reach that point, is far more important.

IF something changes in the scene here and I feel that I need a K to keep up then I will build one.. No point just yet, No K cars here has run 11sec passes on motor.. I can add spray to so don't forget.. I'm not sold on the K swap yet, no one has impressed me with one YET!! Not here in Atlanta anyways.. I've never been one to set trends so my mind set stays on running what is out.. That wasn't a 40 roll, more like a 60 hit.. My 40 roll would be first gear, I started in 2nd at like 7 grand...LOL, sorry my speedo does not work so I stayed with him.. I ask for second race cause that was to fast but he never lined up, I left it be and said good race..

The only other than that changed for me was tire size, I run a DR which is 24in.. that night I was on a 14 which would be more like a 22in.. I told you guys I got caught slipping, I only knew RSX, I took it lightly.. I gave up my 40 hit and tires with not a care in the world.. Free race so no worries!!

Now I'd be willing to re run with my car still the same from a lower roll.. Cut-off being 120mph, You can see the difference in out-come!!
My power to weigh/gearing, traction would have more of an advantage from a dig/low roll.. after 120+ his power would be the winner, we seen that in the video!!

I think the real motor that has best Hp/dollar is h2b personally. Relatively stock motors making 240-250whp with the tq is awesome paired with b series gearing.

J32 is cheapest but then you're a 6 cylinder and can't compete against other 4s at the track

If a stock h22 with bolt ons makes 210hp with a h2b setup and a stock h series makes 185hp with a h tranny what would a 252hp h series motor make bolted to a b series tranny ? Ill be willing to bet i could bolt a b16 tranny to the 252hp motor in the si hatch with a 3 inch exhaust and hit well above 260 (thats being moddest )

When i decided to build my set up all this hype wasnt going on and hell i didnt even know gregg,bobby,or mosely now me and mike has been friends for years. So were a 252hp h series is respectable in georgia its not shit on the west coast. Even on the west coast i have only seen a hand full of 300hp motors and thats why 300hp was my goal . Hell i cant say nothing if i couldnt get traction with brand new 22-9 at the track what the hell you think im going to do on the street . The two times ive even got in the hatch on the street i either passed a sherrif running over a hundred (nemo had to point him out because i never saw him lol) or i almost got ion a fight with a guy because when i steppep in it it started pulling toward the oncoming lane and of course i didnt let out . For the record i never left my lane that guy was just a prick and i told him so lol.

One of the best dd ive ever seen was a si hatch with ac and a pro charger on it . Instant power ran 11s and real reliable . i agree over all turbos are better but for the average person that buys a turbo kit they would be happier with super charger . I can also take you for a ride in a 85 chevy truck ,tubbed, with a big block super charged ,probably over 1,200hp (never been dynoed to mu knowledge0. it gets no traction either and is very scary lol.

Car never seen a track but ran hard on the street, I think he sold it with a bent rod for cheap price.. It was electric blu I think, i almost bought it.. If only it was a coupe..LOL

Ive seen that little s10 win 10,000 dollars a few times. i dont think anybody ever saw what that truck could realy do . finally they just dismantled it and sold everythimg after they couldnt get a race any more. i figured he made a killing off that truck but when i asked him he said hell no he had over 80,000 dollars in that econo painted s10 lol. On my last dyno sheet, my car made 330 with the blower, before I sent it for a rebuild to freshen it up. That was a 10#s of boost. Its a small Vortech - entry model.
I have a low mileage stock, original block - not a 306.
I am stock suspension - although I did replace the rear lower control arms with weight jackers - needed to clear my new wheels - 18" AREs.
I have full interior, stereo, etc. Battery is even still up front. My car is not a drag car by any means.

The pressure is all on you.
You have a built motor, in a race car chassis.
I have a stock 90's model car with just a stock V8 and a entry level blower.

Surely, my heavy 3500# mostly stock 90's Mustang wouldn't be too hard for you to beat. You are the one trying to downplay your racecar now - you have already stated that you have a different DD, and this one is the one that you built a motor specifically for. That's a racecar.

My car is a true DD - still has A/C, PS, PB, battery is still up front, full interior, heavy 18" wheels on it, etc. True radials on it, not DRs even.

Surely, my heavy 3500# mostly stock 90's Mustang wouldn't be too hard for you to beat. You are the one trying to downplay your racecar now - you have already stated that you have a different DD, and this one is the one that you built a motor specifically for. That's a racecar.

My car is a true DD - still has A/C, PS, PB, battery is still up front, full interior, heavy 18" wheels on it, etc. True radials on it, not DRs even.

Yeah I've seen issues with the heat and yeah total power sucks for a supercharger. Plus it is $2500-3000 for maybe 60-70whp

Nitrous much cheaper. Good news is the motors are pretty much bullet proof from what I've seen.

I dont want to get too involved in it because if I wanna go "fast" id just do another eg or something.

I'm leaning towards supercharger because it's easier to sell then saying "had nitrous"

My engine has never been rebuilt. It is the same as when it came from the factory. It has an SC trim, which is Vortech base model supercharger. I have bumped it from 6#s to 10#s, so I am telling you up front what the car is.
You have talked of slicks and built motors for your car, etc. That's race parts, for a race car. You also showed your DD is another car.
I have other cars also, which get good mileage and are much more comfortable than Civics.
I also have a 4cyl Honda, and it is NA, but it is too fast for you to be even close to competing with it, so I didn't bother mentioning it earlier.
