Another thing stretch, since you FINALLY reconized that "when in rome you have to do what the romans do", can u relay that to morris? cause he specifically said he will NEVER do roll races, but at the same time wants to "take out a few select cars". Well what if the "few select cars" want to do a roll race and not a dig on the streets with slicks?????

you seem like a pretty level headed guy. Again im sure your car or the car is fast, my only point (which you guys seem to agree with me) is taht it really hasnt done anything here in GA. Not yet at least.
And i REALLY HOPE IT DOES do well may 22. But thats not what my argument was about. my argument was the car has no credibility down here, in ga, yet and doesnt warrant people being scared to race it.
Thats it, thats all.

Listen this whole convo is pointless, you want proof, you will get proof.... End of story... I let the cars talk online debates are a waste of time.... We race, how we race in NY for a reason. If its not your thing then hey what can I say... But as for saying that nobody races like that in Ga, well I think the muscle guys will disagree... I dont care if you race me or not, when Im done with a select few cars I will be going for domestics not imports. So you guys can KEEP the roll racing cuz I will never do it..... Tell me morris, for as long as you and stretch been down here, how many races have you had ON THE STREET WITH FULL SLICKS????????????? Its not like u guys just got here yesterday. Shit u should've had at least 10-20 races on FULL SLICKS on the streets by now, but you havent so what does thast tell you?

Yea I will for fun but with people who arent gonna act like kids and go online after and talk shit about how they whooped me... Fun runs should be EXACTLY that fun... But people have fun runs and then go on the internet and talk shit and it starts huge arguments.. When its for money, you can say whatever you want after if i go home with your money its worth listening to BS. And I go alot harder when money is on the line...

And for everyone who says its stupid to come out and street race on slicks, thats your opinion and your welcome to it but remember us imports are new to this and the muscle guys that started this have been doing it for years and they have done slicks on the streets for yeeeeaaaarrrrrrsssss. And it doesnt matter what state, city or county you live in there are v8 muscle races takin place on the street on slicks any given night. Just cuz you dont know about it doesnt mean it doesnt happen. So you can write your own rules but you cant change the ones that have been here for years.

RWD on slicks is NOT the same as a FWD honda on slicks.
ever steered a HONDA with 24in on the front vs a Mustang with ET streets. yeah, totally unsafe in the honda. Your power wheels are also your TURNING wheels in a FWD car and a car with slicks, DOESNT TURN. So any roll racing is extremely dumb and dangerous.
Street Digs is fine, but cops are DEEP here, and if you get caught, its an automatic drag racing ticket with $1000+ fines, impounded car, you got to jail etc. And you cant run from a cop in FWD car on slicks. RWD car you can.
So yeah, totally not even close to being the same. But if you wanna do it, you got balls. Ill give you that.

im not saying it HASNT been done, but what im saying is i street raced here for close to 10 years, and ive NEVER seen anyone set up a STREET race on slicks. And the reasons were for what i said above. Why street race on slicks when you can just go to a track.
I mean ive seen the vids of PACMAN and all the cali racers, ive seen the 900whp EK civic from NY racing on the highway with full slicks blocking the entire interstate. Is it cool, yeah. Is it smart, not in my opinion. Its extremely dangerous to be doing those kind of speeds.
A track prepped surface is not the same as asphalt and i would advise against anyone doing it on the street from a pure safety standpoint. I had BFG Drag radials on my CRX, but i would NEVER EVER EVER agree to a dig run with slicks on the street.
but if you can find someone to do it, you got balls, and i hope you guys are safe

Roll racing is WAY safer than dig racing. Two cars on a highway doing 90-100mph arent automatically "racing". Two cars lined up on the street at 2am with slicks on , yeah try selling that one to the judge.
I still think if you go to BP, or barrett, or anywhere else with your All Motor honda, and try to get people to run you on SLICKS, you are going to get bored very fast. People just dont do it here. And youll have to go run the RWD guys.

First of all most tracks are only concrete for the first 60 feet second of all most tracks are only really prepped for the first 60 feet. Third of all ive seen more accidents at the track than i have at any street races. But like you said you are entitled to your opinion, and im ok with that but you guys keep sayin "this is ATL" as if there is something special about it here... Its been done up north and out west for years, not because you dont get into the same trouble but because we realized that it can be done the right and you get into the same trouble no matter how you are doing it... So if you are gonna complain then just track race or dont race at all. Roll racin is just as dangerous and should not be taken lightly either.

Is it worth it??? at least with roll racing u can do ur thing right quick and get out of it. yeah u can STILL get caught, but its VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY different then just sitting somewhere, burning out to warm up tires etc etc, loads of ppl around etc etc. Maybe up in NY u guys had it down to a T, but for the BILLIONTH TIME YOU ARE IN ATL NOW!
Actually, I know several places where digs are still run. Slick cars run all the time on the street. You just have to know where to do it. Granted, you hardly ever see a Honda out, as most of the cars are trailers Mustangs or G-bodys.
Its not a big here as it used to be, because we have several grudge tracks close enough that it makes more sense to take it to the track.

Roll racing became popular like is said when about 5 years ago EVERYONE was turbo. Well the FWD cars didnt want to run digs because they either broke, or spun in place because most of the drivers couldnt...well......drive.
So people started doing roll racing.
And then , the "spots" got way too hot because it used to be 5-10 people showed up, we raced, we left. Then it became fast and furious and 50-75 people would show up, do burnouts, be obnoxious, so it got way too hard to keep it low key.
Honestly i think it just got to the point that people got too scared of getting caught, and roll racing is way easier. Like i said if youre doing 40-120 roll on the highway, as long as you get under 90mph when you see a cop youre usually fine. Worst thing youll get is a speeding ticket. If you do dig runs, you are stopped in the middle of an industrial area at 2am doing 50mph, they are gonna get you. Period.
It just became easier IMO and safer.
But in the 10 years i street raced, i NEVER EVER saw a FWD honda want to run with slicks on the street. Its too dangerous, and even if your car is sitting still its an automatic drag racing ticket

Digs dont HAVE to be on slicks. Thats just a "select few" guys tire of choice. And it doesnt just HAVE to be about roll races. you can actually have both, but both parties have to agree on both. But in MOST cases(not all) the dig guys will not consent to a roll race. See to them roll racing is stupid, dumb, boring and gay. to the guys that do roll racing BOTH ways are fun, hence guys who are all about digs runs are closed minded. Now of course you cant say ALL of them are. Take 1civic for example. He PERFERS dig runs BUT IN NO WAY are afraid or intimidated by a roll race and will do either race. So to guys like him, u have to give respect b/c they cover both areas.
Now others................................ well you know. Basically DIG=better driver, ROLLS=FASTER car. This is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY SIMPLE!
Why do u think u see more roll races? even against the v8's or the lambos or ferrari's etc etc? Sure the are plenty of dig video with lambos, vipers and such, but ARE WAAAAAYYYYY more vids of roll races. The proof is there. youtube, streetfire etc etc etc

Mike i've had a lot of luck with the ET street II's.. Now given I've never made BIG turbo power, I have spray'd.. Only in the 240 did I street race with a full slick, but the car was unloaded then loaded after the race.. Any advantage I'll take even with risk!! :)
With money on deck, well that's a no brain'er!! Why run with a handicap? If your car spins, then you could lose!!
AND yes we take risk each day getting out of bed, yes the track is safer, but we will always have street racing.. ;)

I should say im referring to FWD CARS ONLY. RWD is totally different. You can run ET streets on the back of a 240 and cut 1.5 60fts all day long and still be able to steer your car and drive it. But try rolling out on 24.5s in a FWD NA Honda with 5psi of pressure and see how fast that bad boy turns lol
With money on deck, well that's a no brain'er!! Why run with a handicap? If your car spins, then you could lose!!
I never raced for money, so i never saw the need to put myself in that position. I either raced from a dig and if i spun, oh well, if i lost, oh well. I tried to give myself the best advantage possible, but i never was hard up to win so bad id risk putting myself in a bad position. If i ever street raced a RWD car then i would have no problem running ET Streets.

exactly but does that mean their car is slower than the other guys....HELL NO! How does a 12.5 sec EVO gets his ass handed to him by a 13.9sec civic on the highway? Simple EVO=better driver, civic=FASTER car.
And then , the "spots" got way too hot because it used to be 5-10 people showed up, we raced, we left. Then it became fast and furious and 50-75 people would show up, do burnouts, be obnoxious, so it got way too hard to keep it low key.

The dumbest spot i ever raced at was IIRC where 138 hits an intersection at the Ingles. We would line up on the red light and race on Green down 138. Usually on Sunday nights. Cops never bothered us because of that club down the street that people were jamming to get in.

I speak of both FWD and RWD since I've raced in both.. My 240 made some respectable power on the 150 pill, and the trans am, well it was never dyno'd and I never spray'd more than 100 on her.. To me there is much more sway in the RWD on full slicks, I'm not worried about driving FWD on slicks, nor do i make any big numbers so I would pick slicks if second party agree'd..
I see your point though Mike, but understand when money is only the line you want all odds in you favor, hints the reason people jump the start!! remember chase is a race!! LOL
But yes people I'm not trying to brag, but I've done both RWD, FWD, Digs, and Rolls on bikes and in cars.. For Money and for no money!!

I guess my overall point is the NY guys are in for some boring nights because
1) Almost none of the honda guys run for money
2) there are VERY FEW fast NA cars, most runs 14s at best. Especially ones that go out to the "spots".
3) Theres maybe 5 on here that are respectable and fast, or worth racing, and almost all of them will not run for money, they will run for fun
4) there only hope is running the domestic guys, and good luck with that.
5) there is prob some turbo cars, but they only run roll races, which NY said they dont like doing

Boatrock, buffington, bufford, south fulton, the docks, the lot, moreland, grant rd... O they joys all these names bring back!!
I could list some more, but all the real racers know anyways!! :)

But stretch man, why go threw all that and risk the trouble?
cause for them, its worth it.
They prob are used to racing for money. And an NA Honda racing for money WITHOUT slicks, is a 13-14 second car. So itll lose. So if you ONLY build NA Hondas, you HAVE to run with slicks, or your cars just not going to win or be at a serious disadvantage.
My 200whp ITR CRX was a low 13 second car on 24.5in clicks with crappy 60fts. Trapped 109mph. When i went to commerce on BFG Drag Radials, the FASTEST time i got was a 14.2@108. My car was a full second SLOWER on DRAG RADIALS vs full slicks. So imagine that in a street race. Now imagine a car making 240-250-275whp or even worse, more than 160TQ. Itll NEVER get traction. I bet you right now if i took someones 190whp CRX and ran the Midnight Auto hatch street tires for street tires, they would prob lose a street race. They would spin so bad on DOTs , and lets face it a REAL street race is NEVER 1/4 mile. So basically you have a car that prob cuts 2.4 60fts and by the time it gets traction in the 1/8 the race is over.
So if they are coming out racing for money, theyll want to be on slicks.
we always race for fun, so it was never worth the risk, and we usually did LOW roll races instead of digs, like 5-10mph roll then go.

yup with 205/15s BFG Drag Radials i ran 14.2 on a friday night with Chunky. Chunkys 240whp K Series ran 14.2s on street tires.
Either you made A LOT more power, or you were there on a track prepped night. I call bullshit on a low 13 second pass on straight up street tires unless you were making well over 200whp
Even the Import Xpert hatches were running 13.9-14.0 that night. Doesnt matter what you had , all i did was spin, i even let other people drive my car and we all got the same result. 2 months later i went back with 24.5in slicks, and they were way too big, i needed 22s cause i wasnt making enough power, and i was running 13.2-13.3 all day. Not bad for 200whp and a 4.4 FD. 22s i would have gotten into the high 12s which is what i was hoping for.
I never got to run it with the supercharger and 4.9, that would have been cool to see.

LOL ahhhh my feelings are hurt. youre right i could not get traction in first. Rest of my run(s) were clean. You cant fuck up a 1-3 gears and revving to 9900. I finished the quarter in 3rd gear.
My problem was the 2.3-2.4 60fts i could not overcome because the track wouldnt allow for it. I dropped my tired pressure down to 5psi and it still would not hook. Plus i was on BFGs, they are DOT tires so even though they are classified as "drag radials" then arent REALLY. I have several witnesses too, and several people who jumped in and drove after me. There were a bunch of NA cars there that night, no one was running a good time. Import Xpert left because the track was so bad.
So nice try. So a BONE STOCK MOTOR was running low 13s at commerce on street tires? Man that means there should be countless B16 swapped CRXs running low 13s then! (sarcasm) A bone stock motor means 170-200whp tops. even my Type-R motor with a header made 198whp.
I mean if you pulled it off good for you but ive been to commerce more than 50 times, and ive seen a ton of 180-200whp cars run, and the story is always the same. If you ahve street tires, you run really shitty times. period.
Tell you waht bring a STOCK moTOR car out on STREET TIRES to commerce and if you run faster than a 13.6 ill give you $100

I know EFilliated is telling the truth about the 13.4. It is not BS.
He lieing about something, cause ive seen my fair share of NA hondas up there, and no way is a BONE STOCK motor car running 13.4s, sorry. Define STOCK. What chassis? Does he mean BFG Drag Radials, or real street tires?
Im not even talking about myself cause ive already said im not the best track driver. But there are TONS of people (jenson, johnzm, chunky, Kevin, etc) who all have the same power i did or same setup and no one runs those times. This kid is not some super special driver.
Johnzms 180whp 1800lb CRX with 22in SLICKS RAN 13.4 with 1.6 60Fts. You CANNOT pull those 60fts on a Street tire, sorry.
You telling me a BONE STOCK motor car was running 13.2s (which was as fast as some of the SLICKED cars at last Import Faceoff????) Come on.
This sounds like the 12.2 Stock H22 motor guy in a CRX.
Efilliated what was your 60fts. NO Honda cuts 1.5-1.6 60fts on street tires. So you must have had A) A TON OF POWER on the top end or B) an extremely light car
If you did it congrats, but theres something you are leaving out.

UNLESS it was some "bone stock" K Series, then i would love to know more on the setup. I just dont see a bone stock B or H running those kind of times, on street tires. They dont make enough power to overcome the inevitable bad 60ft times.
For reference my CRX was 2350 with 198whp/139TQ. With BFGs at ANY RPM, the best 60 ft i cut was 2.2. I even rolled out on one, and spun through 2nd. I know my car, and i know there was nothing i could do to get it to hook. which is why i went back with slicks later

Ok exactly like i said, look at what you are saying:
Both chassis weigh the same (2400lbs)
Both cars make the same power (190-200whp)
Both cars had 2.X 60fts (2.2-2.4)
Both cars had the same tranny
Both Cars trapped over 100 (103mph vs 103mph)
And youre telling me you ran .8 faster? that has NOTHING to do with driver. You cut the same times as me. So either the time was WAY off when I ran, or when you ran. You cant escape physics and simple math.
EVERYTHING WAS EQUAL. At most you make 15ft/lbs more TQ. ANd that doesnt mean anything because you cut the same ET and 60 foot as my car.

Oh i personally think stretch is a cool guy. When i first met stretch he was funny to me. I was selling him a manifold and tried his best to talk me down on the price but in his NY way. LOL! shit was funny cause i never was approached like that b4. Even told a few ppl about it and said i hope to see him around again knowing he was from NY and i see the vids of how they get down up there. Dont know about morris yet. They just need to lighten up a bit. WE ALL welcome them and what they bring, they just need to realize SHIT TALKING WILL ALWAYS GO ON WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT. Shit talking is what fuel the races as it ALWAYS has. look at the kills forum right after showdown. SHIT WAS BORING AND DEAD AS FUCK!
Telling you now, win or lose, when i race the vids WILL be posted up with ALOT of shit talking going on, so fair warning. I think the longer stretch and morris are here, they will lighten up more..... "its just a matter of time":)

Only slicks I had access too and they were way too big. I dropped them down to 5psi and basically it would dead hook and bog. I should have aired them up to like 20psi to get them to spin but I didn't have time. Spoolin even ran my car that day too and we all know he can drive, and he ran same times as me.

That's fast, but trap speed seems low but with 1.8 60 I can see that. Especially with the car weight.
Must have been really good tires. I tried everything from 2000-8000 rpms and it did not matter I couldn't cut anything faster than a 2.2 that night.

Since we're talking shit about track times... I think it is hilarious how people tried to say that when Luis owned the hatch before me that it wasn't very fast. When I bought it from him, I did nothing but bolt on some slicks. Then went to commerce and ran a 12.3 @ 111 on the very first pass.
The thing is the car has been nearly that fast all along. Just a few tweaks here and there. From day 1 (november '06) I bet it would have done a 12.5 or 12.6 on slicks.

Honestly slicks dont always get you half a second in the quarter. Ten years ago i ran 13.5 with street tires and 13.5 with slicks . Either way the same time. With street tires i had to role off the line . With slicks i launched real hard .The difference is in oreder to hook the slicks i had to let enough air out to kill my trap with a stock h22 plus stock h22 gearing .Sure my 60 foots were higher but i lost 4mph trap in the quarter. I ran 13.5 with slicks with th f20b stock in a stock si hatch back heavy as fuck. Everybody has always hated on h22s since the old days when in reality the have always been the best bang for the buck. I either out run or it was tit for tat with my friends turbo gsr and turbo b16 with my bone stock h22 . They are a beast and with the h2b kit they are capable of 12.9 stock. So a 13.5 on street tires is very beleiveable with dropping half a second with slicks.
On the other hand dont act like it was that easy and you could go to every track and run them times because you know your wrong . You had problems getting the same times with slicks . It all takes practice and ive seen some cars that hook well not benifit one bit from slicks because they arnt making enough power to need them . On the other hand you take me were i had the car set up pretty good running decent times and change one thing and cant get the 22s to hook .
Mike is right the track is a whole different cup of tea then the street . I have preached this to gregg alos. Dont think because you beat somebody that your car will runa number at the track if you have never been. Its no that easy lol.
Thats one thing i liked about our car. if we decided to street race the car had great gearing for that and as long as we run 22 inch slicks we could put down decent times at the track . When you let 22-9 inch slicks down to 7-8 pounds of air at the track and launch at 6,000 rpms and cant get traction you have a well built h22 lol simple as that . I wish we could run a 11 second pass before the new car but no need in changing the whole set up now when we have another car. Also the only tires i have hooked enough to break axles is a set of 23inch drag radials lol who would of thought.

I wouldn't say that was whooping your ass. I think I got a very slight jump on you on the first two runs. like .1 second maybe. but it made a difference. And whomever said 3 beeps is lame... its no different than watching hands drop or watching a tree. I didn't go before the beep so that is all that matters.
Too bad the video of the 3rd run turned out to be bad. It was recorded from behind, and the camera wasn't focused. We went about the same time on that one and I had what maybe a half car on you at 100mph?

In the end it all comes down to who has a perfect run and who doesn't. Just like any competition. I ran 14s at the track but beat other cars that ran 13.0. My 2.0l beat cars that ran 12s but doesn't mean my car was a 12 second car cause it never did it.
So it goes both ways.
In the end just have a goal, have fun, don't get caught up in whp and scenarios or coulda shoulda woulda.
I know we all have ego and personalities but at tue end of the day regardless of the shit talking I hope everyone runs fast and gets what they want. So I hope midnight runs fast, I hope Bobby gets his car together, I hope Greg gets his motor or car back on the road, and I hope Mosely gets motivated to bring the 2.o out.

Gregg here is why dyno #s can be really misleading. A dyno measures whp by how quickly your car spins up a drum in that particular gear. It does math based upon the speed and acceleration of the drum. So based upon the drum spinning up at X rate, it can compute power, but if the dyno gave back the raw numbers it is reading, we'd all be doing dyno runs in 1st gear and making 2000+lbs of torque. So the dyno does some math to guestimate how much power is actually be produced, based on the speed of the drum. So if you do a pull in 2nd gear, in theory it should give the same power numbers as it does in 4th. But it doesn't. because you're hanging axles, wheels, and tires, off of the tranny and a lower ratio effectively increases the losses from that additional weight. That is why a dyno will typically show you lower numbers in 1st and 2nd gear.
I said all of that just to say... if you were to take both of our cars and strap them on the dyno in 2nd gear. it would still show that you have a power advantage, because the dyno tries to eliminate gearing from the equation. but if you could see the RAW numbers being put to the ground by each of our cars in 2nd gear you'd see that there was no 32whp advantage :)

Or in our race from 40-62mph u was +20%, then 62-73 u was @ 16%, then 73-87 u was +25%, then 87-106 we were even and 106+ u was +5%:)
LOL! I'm gonna get u back for that one:ninja::)

the problem with Dyno jets has always been that they TRY to really factor everything in but they cant. They are too easy to manipulate and arent really AS ACCURATE as you want them to be. They are an inertia Dyno not a load based dyno which ideally is what you want.
The way a dynojet works is it calculates how fast you turn the roller in a certain time frame and calculates your hp that way.
Force = Mass x Acceleration
Basically the dyno drum weighs a certain weight (usually 2500-3000 lbs) , it turns at a certain speed for a certain time, uses RPM, and then for lack of a super long explanation, it calculates hp and tq.
The problem with the Dynojets is it negates gearing, and gearing can really effect the TQ and powerband. A car with a 4.4 will dyno differently if you put a 4.9 in it. Tire pressure will effect HP, tire size will effect HP, etc. You wanna make 5 more whp, pump your tires up to 50PSI.
What Mose is talking about is taking the graph as a whole of his car versus gregs car, calculating the gearing differences and measuring HP that way. Basically Mosely in second gear at 5000 rpms makes XXXwhp versus greg at 5000RPMs makes XXXwhp.
Dynojets dont take into effect gear ratios, it tries to negate them or overcompensate for them.
"Area under the curve". Greg may have made 32whp more PEAK, but you can quickly make up for that difference with gearing with a much lower hp producing motor, which you wont see on a dynojet

Easiest way to explain this is think of a turbo car. When someone says "i make 500whp" the instant response is WOW THATS A LOT OF POWER.
Then someone says i make 300whp, people say "oh thats average"
Then when the 300whp car beats the 500whp car people go "WHY?"
If the 300whp car makes 300whp from 2500-7000rpms, and the 500whp car makes 200whp from 2500-6500, then from 6500-7000 makes 500whp, the 300whp car is MUCH FASTER. Its much faster all over the place, except for a VERY small part of the graph. the 300whp car makes 100whp more for 4000rpms, which is 90% of the graph and pull. Then you can factor in gearing, like where someone is at in their individual gear at what time and at what RPM, then it gets even more of an advantage.
Thats the easiest wat in my mind to explain it
(BTW i learned all this in EFI 101, so i recommend taking the class if you can when it comes here. Its pretty awesome)

Gregg I wouldn't say I had the faster car... from 40mph yes I did and probably from less than 40mph too. But beyond 40mph it would be a toss up, depending upon the starting speed... with higher speeds favoring your car more due to the raw power.

what we basically find out is 90% of all the shops have dynojets because they are FAR Cheaper than the dyno like Forged has. Dynojets are $30,000-40,000 for 2-4wd. The Forged Load Bearing dyno is $80,000-100,000 but you can do so much more with the Load bearing. Tuning on a dynojet is an educated guess in reality, where with a load based dyno you can calculate brake specific fuel consumption, injector duty cycle, etc PER RPM which you cant do with a dynojet

edit: variable cam timing of course is why that is all different. on a B it would make perfect sense to me to tune the shit out of a motor (not just ECU tuning, parts tuning) in search for peak torque. then once you find that you move on from that point. it doesnt ALWAYS change, but i have seen it change before. A lot of that comes down to just trying to find an extra 5whp and its almost impossible to get the exact number again and again back to back on a dyno. Like mosely said theres too many other factors. So at 30psi your engine oil was 5 degrees warmer than at 50psi, or your IATs were 5 degrees off, etc. Too many factors.
Dont quote me but
Work = Force x Distance
Power = Work / Time
hp = rpm x torque / 5252
However thats not exactly how a dynojet figures stuff out as it can calculate HP WITHOUT a tq reading (ever done a run where the tach signal doesnt work, it still displays a HP number)
Youre also not MOVING a dyno drum, your spinning it, so it has some sort of built in mass inertia calculation(moment of inertia something like that) that it uses to calculate hp instead of the normal way.

Tuning with either a DynoJet or a Dyno Dynamics is the same - you cannot hold a car in high rpm on the Dyno Dynamics anymore than on a DynoJet. When it comes to tuning at the high end of the scale, you will always be taking reading and extrapolating the data to make your map.

Well im also talking about on an engine dyno vs chassis dyno. Usually in Bs peak TQ is around VTEC or slightly after then it almost always falls (1.8 to 2.0 liter motors at least). Very rarely does a B motor make peak whp at peak TQ especially one revving to 9000+. But its like a slingshot, you keep increasing TQ you almost always increase peak hp, usually.
At if you reach the point of peak TQ, you have pretty much maxed out your cylinder pressure, which means the motor will not make any more power unless you change something. Ironically john from hytech and Don always said that the best motor (at the time) was a 2.0l (k20 or B20vtec) because it was very easy to get them to run over 100% VE. The 2.2 and 2.4s AT THE TIME didnt have the cams, headers, etc to get there. Obviously times have changed.

correct but the way i interpreted it (and i am NOT a tuner) is that on a dyno dynamics or load bearing it is MUCH easier to tune and predict the rest of the map, than it is on a Dynojet. Obviously you cant hold a car at redline and tune it (i mean you can but BOOM). But the dyno jet its much harder to keep things consistent vs the dyno dynamics.
But obviously people like Scotty, Morris , Dan Willie etc can figure out how to tune safely on a dynojet so im sure theres pros and cons

they both kinda go hand in hand, and theres other variables. HP usually effects TQ, and vice versa.
I mean if TQ didnt matter then 600CC motorcycles would rape everything. They make like 80Ft/lbs, but its actually not that hard to beat a 600cc bike, because why they accelerate fast, they dont have the force (tq) a car does.

I have not seen an issue of tire pressure affecting a dyno output, but I do know that Dynapaks readings are direct - and remove the tire from the equation. Matt (the HITman) recommended Dynopaks to me, as he believes that the tire can affect readings. His opinion definitely trumps mine.

Yes, that is the trick - the Dyno Dynamics makes it much easier to tune the lower rpms - and then with a couple of pulls, you can get a fairly close base map quickly, then all you have to do is look to tweak it a little.
With the DynoJet, my method is to work up in 500 rpm intervals, and build the bottom first. I learned it from Matt, and it keeps the risk of popping a motor down. I also keep a buffer to maximum cylinder pressure, so while it gives up a few hp, it keeps motors a little safer.
Right now, I am paying to have Bob Kurgan retune my car, just to get hold of one of his maps, to compare to my own tunes. He is the top AEM tuner in my opinion, so its always good to look for new methods and practices.

Greg, this is an example i found to make the most sense
Horsepower is what actually moves your car down the street or around the track, and Torque is what tows a car trailer. Someone with high torque at low rpm would be a weightlifter on a bicycle. Someone with relatively high horsepower would be Lance Armstrong. The weightlifter may be able to tow a heavy load slowly, but Lance can maintain a decent torque at a high rpm. Guess who wins a race?
Just some examples i found. You can always look at Diesel trucks too, they make 600ft lbs/tq at 2000rpms and redline at 3000.

Not if the car is strapped down properly. If you have enough traction not to slip, then the only other factor would be tire sizing. If you are on a negative camber, the edge of your tire would give you a very slight change in tire sizing - that;s the only other factor that I can think of, other than the obvious traction factor.

But I could imagine if you were building a road race engine or drag engine you'd want to maximize torque under WOT in a certain rpm range, and a dynapack is probably best for that?

based on your graph i would stop revving at 7800-8000 and get a better final drive and get different gears to cut down your RPM drop. Theres no reason to rev past 8000 as your tq drops off hard. all youre doing revving that high is compensating for the time it takes you to shift. But you can see you make peak TQ around 5000rpms, and then it rapidly falls off.
IMO youd be faster shifting at 8000 (falling back to 7500) then shifting at 8500 and falling back to 8000.
Thats assuming a 500 rpm drop (which its prob more than that)

With the DynoJet, my method is to work up in 500 rpm intervals, and build the bottom first. I learned it from Matt, and it keeps the risk of popping a motor down. I also keep a buffer to maximum cylinder pressure, so while it gives up a few hp, it keeps motors a little safer.
Right now, I am paying to have Bob Kurgan retune my car, just to get hold of one of his maps, to compare to my own tunes. He is the top AEM tuner in my opinion, so its always good to look for new methods and practices.
So david88vert i have a question. why is it the dyno dynamics usually reads what 5-7% lower than a dyno jet given at some point the have the same properties for measuring hp and tq???

actually usually the Dynapacs read HIGHER. Churchs Automotive out in cali routinely puts out retarded high cars. Like a stock K20 RSX type-S making 260whp, i mean go read what they turn out. But dynapacs IMO usually read more between flywheel hp, and whp. Somwhere in the middle.
Case in point Knowledge Performance had a dynapac and someone had a b16 with I/h/e and it put down 172whp. I was like "no way, no B16 has ever made over 160whp with just i/h/e" at mainstream. I invited the guy to come to mainstream, he did, it put down 153whp. Almost a 20whp difference.
As for dyno dynamics, i do not know why they read lower, david has more experience so ill let him chime in before i assume and look like a dumbass lol

based on your graph i would stop revving at 7800-8000 and get a better final drive and get different gears to cut down your RPM drop.
Thats assuming a 500 rpm drop (which its prob more than that)
That would be correct, but at the same time there was something else holding me back from making more power past 8000rpms. the culprit has been found:ninja:

Each dyno manufactuer has different ways of doing calculations - don't get caught up on that though. It doesn't matter if your number is higher or lower on different dynos - what matters is that you get maximum cylinder pressure across the entire rpm spread. A dyno is just a tuning device, and the best dyno is the one that helps you find the VE number that you make.
For that reason, I suggest that you chose one dyno for comparisons, and stick with it. For me, I like to use the DynoJet at Dynolab to make comparisons, as it has been around the longest, and has not changed in all these years. I can tune any car on any dyno, and then if I want to compare to a previous car or setting - I have it already logged at Dynolab as well.
BTW - Even different versions of DynoJets can give different numbers - the dyno operator can easily change the setup factors.
Now, in answer to your original question - here is where you can learn about the differences in the dynos:

still i wouldnt rev a 2.4l with a 99mm stroke much past 8000 or youre going to be rebuilding the motor quite often. Unless you dry sump it. (unless they have fixed something with the K motors and their oiling problems).
And its pretty evident based on your graph that you arent going to make much power past 8000 no matter what you do. you make peak power around 7500-7600 (unless my eyes are bad). Extending that power PAST 8000 is going to be hard and if you do it prob wont be significant. I bet youll end up making MORE POWER but prob around the same RPM. May peak around 8000 but even then , its not your whp thats dropping off a cliff its your TQ. It falls almost 50 ftlbs from 7000-8500. Your hp kinda plateaus meaning either you are holding it back (restriction somewhere) or thats all its gonna make.
I think you would be better served shifting earlier and getting a 5.0+ final drive. But you wanna run nitrous too so you dont wanna have it too short geared.
more power on the existing gearing wont necessarily make it much faster.
IMO of course
