The only car (that tuners are interested in) that is eligable to legalize across all the country is the 95 GTR, because its the only one that has had sufficient crash test data and tests and what not. Dont believe me? ... ive got a link. All other cars usually just depend on how strict your state is. But once its been deemed a new VIN, then it can be retitled anywhere.

Wrong the people that did the crash test data never used a gtr they used the gtst with reinforcements(roll cage). wich is one of the many reasons motorex got fucked. Zoborax will fill in the blanks when he gets off work tonight since he called kendall for more information.

It is worth 25k mainly because it is an s15 which was not produced in the states and the chassis design is better than the s13 and s14 due to the rear subframe and more whp motor. PLUS THE HEADLIGHTS ARE HAWT!!!!!!!!!!! Does it have the HID system?

6speed in those are kind of lame imho. Its 6 gears slapped into a 5 speed tranny. Ever seen a fat girl in a elevator? Something is bound to break if there is any rough housing. Higher horsepower of course .

Skylines are crash tested. Reinforcements are still necessary for U.S. standards. This statement does not apply to the Silvia which are not crash tested.

I thought you ran a dealer tag on that car. I know if you have a car dealer liscense and have car dealer insurance you can run a dealer tag. I guess they changed the laws again. LOL

I've done extensive research on the whole "importation" thing. I've read all of the crash test data that JK Technologies did for Motorex, and there are some proprietary clauses in "Adendum A," which are unmentioned to protect the interest of JK and Motorex (now just JK, cause Motorex is Tits up). Those are related to various structural modifications performed on the R33 Test Craft, which enabled the craft to pass FMVSS 208 (occupant crash protection: I.e. Offset frontal crash test, sled test roof crush test, etc.). Unfortunately, now only 96 - 98 R33 skylines are allowed in the country via a registered importer, becuase the R33 was the only type ever tested, and 1996 was the first year that dual airbags became standard (mine only has one ). Back in the Mid-late 80's, the NHTSA made it mandatory that a certain percentage of cars produced had to have passive restraint systems (i.e. airbags or automatic seatbelts). But they say that any car imported as a grey market vehicle that was manufactured during those times up to 1996 MUST have a passive restraint system. Therefore, if the R32 skylines were tested for crash testing, and they had at least those cheesy automatic seatbelts and they passed the tests, then those cars would then be eligible for importation.

I know I am rambling on...To the point....It clearly says that the USDOT/NHTSA can only create the laws and regulate the importation of vehicles into the country (via US Customs and Border Protection); however, it is up to the STATEs to enforce the laws set forth by the US DOT. Theoretically, if a car slips by customs with no paper work, then the FEDS cannot do anything about it. Then if the car is titled and registered in a willing state, the FEDS can't do anything about it. All I can say is, "GOTTA LOVE STATE SOVEREIGNTY!"

PS. I think my buddy already has a buyer on the S15 (for the full $25k!). It's not in stone, yet, but apparently, the buyer has a signature loan from Capital One, and the vehicle is being titled right now as I type. I am still waiting on some pics of the GTSts and the GTR. He's kinda slow when it comes to little things like that. Sorry guys. I am just as disappointed as you are. Hopefully, someday soon, we'll get an S15 in the scene around here!

No dealer tag here. I own the Skylines and the S15 individually. Didn't want to risk them as colateral when we started the business.

The research by Zoborax is excellent and I applaud his deligence. Honestly, I paid a good bit more than $25,000.00 for mine when it was bone stock so the asking price is a deal if all "I's" have been dotted and all "T's" crossed. I can't buy one that cheap so props for the listing. It's one heck of a nice car and the new owner will be more than satisfied.
