Beat an Evo

My buddy Jason has a stock EVO 8 and we and 5other cars were on our way back from HIN and JAson and I got into a highway race with an h23 accord(Jamie). I drive a 91 240sx with an sr20 with a t28 on 14psi and some other mods. i actually started a little behind them so they got the jump. BUt i quickkly relled them in and pass the both. NOt much to brag about since EVos suck on the highway stock being AWD. Still happy i beat the Evo though. If u wanna call bullshit go ahead. Jamie is a member on this forum and Marcus(MR.Big on here) was there also. I had got my car fixed just in time for the show.

I remember the days of SR highway runs................sniff sniff....

On a properly tuned SR with good power to weight a SR will pull ridiculous from 50mph to 150mph..........believe me I have been there many times! At 50mph I could drop the car into 2nd and it would spin my 255's with ease on a bone dry hwy 20!

I need to sell the Z and build another 400hp+ SR..............hmmmmmmmmmm......getting very tempting!!!!!!!!

This is my first 240 with an sr. I knew she pulled well but never reall had any highway races with her. Now i know i guess. I dont know about being like a Supra( at least not a large single one) but she holds it down.

good job there. evos don't exactly suck on the highway - but stock and in 5th gear, there's definitely a disadvantage to most cars. my car pulls nicely on the highway, but it's not stock, and the evo loses its awd advantage.

(insert classic spurned evo driver line here) Now race him from a light!! (<-- that's just a joke, but all awd drivers say that to any car, no matter what it is, hahaa)

Not hassle'n you 'bout your kill... but just letting ya know, stock evo's are slow. 13.3's avg ET stock... add a mbc and tbe ($750) and they do 12.9's avg ET or quicker.

Also, stock evo's hold about 16~17psi towards redline and carry a 10.5ish A/F @ WOT... Mitsu likes to play it on the safe side, I guess. This is why a boost controller is one of the first mods ppl don on their Evo's. ^.^

Um he drives a 240. They are REALLY slow stock compared to 13.3. They run high 15s stock. With his mods he should be right around that time in a 1/4 with a higher trap than an evo. PROPS.

Once you have a car that can run low 11s at 122+ 13s is dog slow. My talon runs 13.5s@101 ish and is slow as hell compared to when my mustang was running 11.3s@122 with the 150 shot.

i had a little hwy roll-on with a modded evo, good bit higher than stock boost on stock turbo, exhaust, AEM, etc... my car is stock T25 running 14psi, both of us hit 4th gear from ~60mph roll and it was dead even for about 4 full seconds and then he began to ever so slightly creep away, maybe 1ft every 3-4 seconds.

so you having a bigger turbo and it being a stock evo it doesn't suprise me at all.

ive tried keeping up to a stock evo but came up alil shy once the car got up to about 130 from a 60ish roll, but almost dead even up to that point. im sure my weight advantage and larger turbo really helped but im only pushing 8psi on a t03/t4h in a fwd protege making like 195 whp and 220 lbs, and my gearing sucks... i can see this happening very easily in a modded SR...nice kill

Ive never of an evos transfer case breaking from a turbo back. That just doesnt make sense.


I remember how it was in my 240 and pulling on evos on the highway. I had 325 to the wheels and busted some modded evos asses. I still pulled a 1.9 60ft too.
Its not like he couldnt go from a dig and keep up then pass him. Just needs an lsd some decent tires/clutch/driving abilility and he would be able to hang off the evos ass for a while then pull on him.
